Kijiji Canada review: Kijiji is a haven for scammers

1st Complaint:
On Sunday 2 February at 1830 hrs. I received a text response for an ad I placed looking for a cat.
To pay, I wanted to do an E transfer (of $100) in front of them on arrival with the cat.
They refused, saying they wanted $50 sent to them right now and then the other $50 when we met up.
I told them that ‘respectfully speaking I don’t want to get scammed out of half my money.’
They said then send $70 right now and then we’ll call it even.
I refused.
The person said to me they were trying to be reasonable, when obviously they were not, by wanting $50 right away and then 50 on delivery, which makes it sound like a contract killing.
The person then said that I was the scammer, not them.
That was the end of the conversation.

2nd Complaint:
I then removed my ad from kijiji because this is the second time in two years that I was almost scammed on your site.
The first time was when I was looking for a room to rent and then now looking for a cat.

It’s bad enough I am suffering and grieving over the loss of my cat of 14 years, which just passed away two days ago, but now while trying to get another cat asap to make the mourning process easier, these people try to take advantage of me.
In future, everybody I talk to about Kijiji is going to get a negative review!
