KIS Golf is a total rip-off. Please contact me if you have been ripped off by this company. We were told so many things that were all lies to get us to sign up for this golf club and academy.

They never came through on anything they promised. We received the so called custom clubs, which technically are not custom. They are only cut to your height; that is not custom. They never told us that you had to contact them first if you wanted to go golfing. We were told that KIS owned all the golf clubs listed. They don't. We tried to get lessons that were not given. I could go on with the list; there is so much more.

Please contact me. I am trying to find as many people as possible for a class action suit against KIS for their bad business practices and possibly fraud. Please tell me your story as best as you can recall. What you were charged and what you were promised with your membership.

My experience is similar in several ways. First off my wife signed up to win a golf cart, in doing so, we were told we won a cruise, and that we were in a final drawing for a golf cart. In order to claim the prize, we had to come in for a quick sales pitch, which we later found out was a scam. We took there little tour around the "country club" and watched the video, and putted for yet another cruise, which i made it and won another cruise. We sat down and I insisted with the lady that i was not really interested in the membership, and then they proceeded with a lifetime travel package. Still skeptical, but being young and looking at this as a chance to spend more time with my wife, we signed the contract. Well they offered financing, which was a simple credit card application and before i knew it, everything was completed. What turned out to be a hour long tour, ended up being a 3 hour nightmare. We walked out of the store around 10 pm. I thought about it all night long and had a terrible feeling about the decision i made, so i called them first thing in the morning when they opened and told them that i didnt think i made the right choice and i would like to cancel my membership. i was told it was to late and that the clubs were already being made. i offered to pay for just the clubs and was again told that that wasnt possible. From that moment on i knew i was taken to the cleaners. This happened a year ago almost to the day and i can say i never stepped foot into the store since the day we signed up because i felt i was scammed, and i have used the clubs once. My wife has never used hers. I found out today that Kis golf has gone bankrupt, (chapter 11) and in doing more research and making a few calls, they will actually be filing for (chapter 7)!
Now i am curious how the whole thing works with my credit card and what not. I dont want to pay for something that i dont or cant use! Before it was my choice to not go, now i have no choice and i feel i should be reimbursed the money i put into that scam!

My husband and I had thee EXACT same experience as the one above! We went in to take a "Tour" so we could get a golf cart, that ended three hours later! After being HEAVLY persuaded and being told that we could take a "one year test drive" risk free, we signed up. We were tring to be nice to the salesman for his effort but, said time and time again that we were deeply in debt (over 50k) and tring to get out and that this might be a good opportunity but to add 9k would be thee LAST thing we should or wanted to do. We went by the store yesterday only to find it locked and dark. What a surprise, now that another "Member" called us today and broke the bankruptcy news. She did though tell us that she was organizing a town hall meeting to try to resolve this mess. We never paid a dime (though we have accrued 21% interest), so so far we are not out much other than our futur credit score. I looked on the back on our GE Money statement and found the "special rule for credit purchases" section. This basically says that if you try in good faith to try and dispute with KIS that you may no be liable for anything! Oh by the way, we were told that we couse use the MAP program to pay for it all, since we could NOT afford this. we had to ask repeadly to sign up for gigs. The first gig was not until March, we signed up in Oct., there was no way this would even pay half. We found this out after we signed up and everyone ran out of course! I don't mind sending the clubs back at my own expense but, we never used anything, not the cruises, travel, clubs, nor the $25 gift card for dinner! We just want out. I am sure everyone else does too. How could the BBB endorse these crooks!

I have been trying for about 3 weeks to find a way to get the money back. We are in the same boat although I will say the golf instructor at the facility we used was amazing. I do not hold him responsible for anything. He actually got ripped off for his last three weeks salary. That is just wrong!

I have had the same experience KIS. I am suppose to start making payments this month and have never used one thing that we were told was available. What am I to do next?

We have also had the same experience. I have a 19 year old handicapped son who loves to golf. We stopped in the KIS store in Gurnee Mills, Gurnee, IL when he saw the "cool" golf carts they were raffling off. We filled out the raffle card and listened to the sales pitch. Sadly, we bought a membership for my son who enjoyed going and using the simulators. Obviously now, he is out a lot of money, but what hurts him most is that he can no longer go and golf in the winter or whenever he wanted. Maybe KIS can get a loan and repay all of those they stole money from!

This all sounds way to familiar has anyone found out anything we can do. I feel like I have been slame dunked. I never signed a contract with GM or was ever told anything about it. instead I was told that Kis was the lender and it would be a low intrest rate. By the time I recieved my first payment I had already built up 641.27 finance charge. Also in 5 days I have had 3 phone calls from GM money. Just a second ago I got off the phone with GM, they were wanting to know when they would get their money. When I told the man that I never entered a contract with them but with Kis and that after entering that contract two months later kis had filed chapter 11, that the goods and services which I was supposed to be paying for went chapter 11 with them and that untill I talked to a lawer or better buissness burea or some one they were not geting paid. They do not have my signature on any contract. Has anyone figured out what we can do. Mike

I fell for the scam also. My husband loves to golf so I thought this would be good for both of us. I could take lessons at their facility and we could receive discounts. The travel program was attractive also until I got the paperwork in the mail and found out what the bottom line was. We will have to make our first payment next month and I don't know what to do either. I did not know they had filed for bankruptcy until today when I received a letter in the mail. I was not aware of the meetings they held for the bankruptcy. Kis never notified me. I would even pay the $700 they say the clubs are worth if I had to but I don't feel I should have to pay for the perks/services that I will never receive. It was supposed to be a lifetime. Not months.

DixieChick, When are you haveing this town hall meeting. I and my husband fell for the whold nine yards in Ashland City, Tn and received the 2 sets of the golf clubs, free cruise and the works they promised and of course owing GM in July. What in the world are we going to do beside filing bankrupsy ourself to get out of it. Are there any Lawyers handling this case for us? Class action suit or whatever. i don't even feeling like going into our story, it is very similar to other except the travel club never worked for us and of course i guess it never will...i like the clubs but i bought the travel, practice faciltity and lessons.

I went into the store with the draw of a free cruise as well. I saw the red flags right from the start. I never made it through their sales pitch and walked out. Glad I did and I am VERY happy to see that they closed down, let them burn for it. Sorry for everyone that got screwed.

When a company files bankruptcy, creditors have a right to go to the proceeding and explain to the judge and the trustee why they should receive some if not all of what is owed them from whatever proceeds are left from liquid assets or the sale of any non liquid assets.

The judge and the trustee decide how any assets are distributed based on information gained not only from the creditors disclosed on the filing but also from any creditors choosing to appear during the hearing.

I think all the consumers who were ripped off should get an attorney and pay that attorney to go to the bankruptcy hearing and petition the court for reimbursement as a "creditor" since I think a strong case can be made that the consumers count as a creditor with a legal grievance.

This is horrible. Our story is the same as everyone else, but we live about 100 miles from the KIS Club at Opry Mills, just went up there last week and saw that they were closed. It is too late for us to get anything done?

We too went through the whole thing... signed up paid $8000, only to find out a few months later that they were going banckrupt. Please post it if anything does get done to repay even a portion of the money that each of us has put out for this golf nightmare.

My story is the same. I won a trip. Went to claim the prize, took the tour, won a cruise, signed the contract for a lifetime vacations that could be handed down for two generations. Me and my boyfriend bought our golf clubs and was pretty excited about the vacations. But we thought about it and called to cancel and they said the clubs were already made I could not cancel. We went to our first training lesson. Tried to call to set up another and never could get a hold of anyone. Just an answering machine. Then we heard they were bankrupt. Went to Opry Mills, but they were gone. We are ready to jump on board to get something done about these tycoons that think they can just take peoples money, and laugh all the way to bankruptsy. Has anyone had anything resolved? I am in the process of dealing with GE Money to try and eliminate any payments I should have to pay on what I DIDN'T receive. Please let me know if you have had any success in dealing with this.

I am also trying to find out if anyone had gotten any resolutionto this...KIS golf scam..My husband & I also bought a membership, in 2007, and though the store near us closed (Lawrenceville, GA ), we were told that another store would be opening soon, of course that never happened. We were told we'd receive info in the mail..and haven't received anything as of yet...We just became aware that they filed for bankrupcy last year, and now are trying to get our money back or get out of the finanace agreement with GE. ANy info you have would be much appreciated.

So as for my family...we were able to talk to ge and get some of the charges droped. They ended up taking our total down to $500. Which I still dont think is fair becasue I dont even want the golf clubs! I will gladly give them back for my $500. I dont know what else to do.

mandy i did same thing and am grateful ge money let me off just owing 500 which is all i should have to pay since clubs were all i got.kisgolf went ouit of buisness like 1 month after i signed up.i use the clubs and they work pretty well.500 is alot better than the 6500 i was going to have to pay over the years .

Similar story. Went in for the Golf Cart, met George and team at the Discover Mills Mall in Atlanta of the 95. Impressed with their plan and the club benefits. I filled out the financing and was rejected across the board. Dejected I left but continued in touch with George and his CFO and others in his team to see if we could strike a deal with my military digital learning project. Mysteriously I was contacted by George MacGill stating my credit had been approved and I had a full membership. I couldn't believe it as I knew my credit was horrible having shut down my company and eaten massive debt. I introduced George and Team to Motion Reality with the intent of bringing Motion Reality's world class digital golf system to the KiSGolf sites. This would have been great... I started receiving bills from the original creditor but then I started receiving bills from another company and then again from GE Money... all for the same loan. I figured out what they did and challenged the accounts. I went to confront George but he wasn't answering his phone or email. I went to Discover Mills and found the shop shut down. I demanded a copy of my contract and founds the loan documents had been adjusted to achieve the loans and sent to multiple creditors. They flipped the accounts taking the cash and then shut down. Not sure if I have this right but the result is the same. I got the first one closed. The second I had to settle for $1000 which ticks me off but I thought I was done. Later I returned from Iraq and saw a notice of Forsyth Courts showing GE Money vs Douglas Scott for $5500. I hit the roof since the court date had passed. I received notice of a ruling against me through the law firm. Mr. Taylor said the case had been removed from them once the courts decided against me since I was a no show. I told him what happened and he was sincerely angry but unable to do anything. I approached GE Money and am repeatedly sent to some Philippine Island call center. I demanded a US based Supervisor and they hung up. When I requested a reduced settlement they were incredibly rude and demanded full payment since they had a ruling from the courts. I am still in this. If there is a Class Action Suit I am all in. I am closing on a home in VA to live closer to Quantico where I work. Any solution or information would be helpful.
