I bought this Legacy home brand new in Late 2008 to replace the one destroyed by hurricane Ike. Almost immediately I discovered structural problems. The floors have humps, the walls are bowed, the siding is cracked, and now I have black mold growing in the cracks (see photos). The manufacturer has been ordered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) following each of three seperate inspections to make repairs and even fined them for failure to comply. Legacy has yet to resolve these problems. They have used an unlicensed contractor that TDHCA says made things worse. The factory crew they sent most recently tried some repairs, but they didn't last and the close up work they did was sloppier than the contractor's. I really don't believe Legacy has any intention of doing the right thing and I don't believe that TDHCA can enforce its orders. I' am currently seeking an attorney to sue Legacy, but consumer protections have been gutted so bad in Texas, that few attorneys care to tackle someone as big as Legacy, unless it's a million dollar case.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I bought a Legacy home in 2008 also. I absolutely LOVE my home. Even million dollar mansions aren't perfect. Lighten up!
Contact craig Packrick attorney at law I believe he can help you, his e-mail is craig patrick@att.net My name is martha hartfield. He said he's dealt with Legacy before. Good luck, Martha
Bought a 2010 legacy mobile home, hate it the floors are sagging in numerous spots, seling is wavy they come and cut a 2x2 square in our seling to fix a bad spot and its worse than it was before you can see where they fixed it.sewer smell coming out of the bathrooms because they did not put the vents on right, they put a shower spout on the garden tub and water runs on top of the tub. Been trying to get this fixed for over 7 months they dont care about fixing it, they sent out a crew they worked for 3 days and its still not fixed. they said the job was to big for them and they said they where going to make a trip to ft worth to the factory and that has been over a week ago and havent heard anything back from them. I am seeking legal action against them...STAY AWAY FROM A LEGACY MOBILE HOME!
I also was ripped off via Repo Depot/RD Homes in Pearland, Texas...I have to say as well, I would stay away from Legacy Homes. They are NOT built well, and if you buy one off their lot, you better inspect it really, really good, sit on the toilets, in fact, try sitting on the toilet seat lid...cheap, cheap, cheap, unless you order it special, and after reading all that I have been able to find NOW, and couldn't find BEFORE I got my home, I personally would not step into a Legacy home ever again, unless they make right what they have made wrong, and I would bet they don't intend that one, but I will contact the attorney listed on this site and see if he is still available or can refer someone.
Day one when I saw my home on the lot that it is now sitting on, the movers damaged it. All the floors squeaked and one still does. There is a soft spot that has now become a bump in my kitchen floor. When I first moved into my home, they had NOT removed any of the plastic coverings off the microwave or other appliances. The refrigerator, had wooden wedges under it, I am 62 years old. No Make ready AT ALL. Charged me an additional $300 for my so called deck/porch. Cracks in the ceilings the day I moved in, and much more.
