On Sept 26, 2019 I purchased a shih tzu puppy from Robin Mayne with Mayne Haven Kennels. Robin provided documentation for health guarantee, NYS puppy lemon law, etc. The evening of Oct 4 2019, I noticed my puppy acting a little bit lethargic, and she began vomiting. By mid morning of October 6th 2019, the puppy was almost comatose. I informed the breeder, then rushed the puppy to an emergency vet. Now, I do have all conversations available in writing, as it took place via Facebook Messenger. I informed the breeder, Robin Mayne, my puppy was ill. She was lethargic, vomiting, and showed serious neurological problems. The puppy was rushed to an emergency vet, as it was a Sunday. The puppy was hospitalized, but euthanized later that evening as she was too far gone. The breeder insisted I have my vet send her vet all pertinent records for review, which was done. I VERY politely asked for my entitled by law refund for the cost of the puppy, as well as the $1000 vet bill. Robin REFUSES to acknowledge the puppy was ill or take any responsibility for selling a sick puppy. She proceeded to tell me to take her to court. As per NYS Puppy Lemon Law, Robin OWES me a full refund for the purchase price of the puppy AND my vet costs. ($702 for the puppy, $1000 in vet costs) Still she refuses to be reasonable. I have filed a complain with the NYS Attorney General.Desired Resolution: RefundDesired Outcome
Full refund of purchase price of puppy ($702) plus vet expenses ($1000) I do have ALL receipts, documents, messages, and the vet reports.

Well, Ms Robin Mayne, I will happily be posting ALL the vet documents I have (which your vet also received) including the letter from the vet stating your puppy died from CONGENITAL DEFECTS. Yep, distemper is mentioned, however, if she had distemper, ALL my dogs would be dead. Also, as per one of the recorded phone conversations with my vet, which I sent TO you, the vet stated it was HIGHLY UNLIKELY to be distemper due to the lab results finding a lack of inclusions in bloodwork. You are a large scale commercial puppy mill that turns over more puppies than you can even remember. You offer NO DNA or health testing on ANY of your dogs or puppies, thus increasing the likelihood of producing puppies with underlying congenital defects that no one knows about until it's too late. I produce 1 litter per year of DNA/HEALTH TESTED pups. MY 2 puppies became ill ONLY after YOUR puppy came here. They were in perfect health prior, and none of my other puppies or any of my 3 adult dogs became sick until YOUR pup arrived. YOUR puppy was sick before any of mine. MY puppies vomited for a couple days and made a very quickly full recovery. They are healthy and happy. YOUR puppy was (as per the vet) neurologically inappropriate and practically comatose, thus the need for her to be euthanized. Funny how SHE died yet mine are fine? There was NO mention of toxins by my vet. In fact, the vet paperwork, which readers can see for themselves, flat out states TOXINS: NONE KNOWN. There are NO toxins even IN my home, as I have full time indoor dogs and young children. (unlike your dogs living in gross, dirty cages...of which I have video YOU sent me!) Sadly, you refuse to stand by your own contract and by NYS law. A simple refund for her purchase cost would have sufficed and you know that. I didnt even get an apology. But no, you prefer to take this matter to court. This is what gives breeders such a bad rap. Sorry, but that's the truth whether you like it or not. Such a shame...

I would like to further advise that the dots all just connected. Robin chose to block me after I presented her with the following information and again requested we come to terms before heading to court. Clearly I will see her in court. Her choice.

Robins puppy was born defective. As per Robin's own veterinarian, the puppy I purchased had an open fontanel as of Sept 25 2019. Documentation was provided to me. While this isnt always life threatening or serious, it can also become deadly. I have attached screenshots of things that can happen to a puppy with an open fontanel. The puppy purchased did MANY of those exact things prior to her death. My own veterinarian report states they actually suspected hydrocephalus, which is a condition seen in puppies with an open fontanel. If you look at the bottom right corner of Robins own vet report, you will see the info about the open fontanel. Robin also provided me written information about this condition and told me not to worry. Clearly she was mistaken. If you look at the vet reports I previously provided, you can specifically see where congenital hydrocephalus was suspected. None of this matters to Robin though
She got her money, that's her only concern. Reputable breeders would NEVER behave this way.

Robin's own contract, which she REFUSES to abide by. Notice her own contract states "14 days"? My puppy died in only 9... the courts will LOVE seeing a broken contract!

Well Mrs. Shayla Cobb, nice review, would you like to inform everyone that is reading this that you in fact are a breeder and had puppies from your own home that were sick as well, which none of the puppies from here were sick. Would you like them to listen to the voice recording from your vet stating that they will never know what happened to the puppy, and the paperwork that you provided states that in fact could have been a toxin, which would have came from your home. Would you like me to put on a bad review for your breeding business stating how I told you a puppy that was vet checked the day before it went home and within 9 days my baby I raised for 8 weeks was dead because I allowed you to take her home? I would certainly hope you contain yourself in future reviews, because by all means, you will in deed only be hurting yourself when the truth comes out that you want me to pay you back for killing my puppy I sold to you.

I agree with these complaints. I purchased a pekingese male puppy three and a half years ago. According to the veterinarian report both testicles were decended. Upon my veterinarian's examination, tests, and during the neutering operation only one testicle decended and exploratory surgery was required to find the other. Although I never pursued compensation I'll never do business there again and will advise others not to go there.
