Night nurse at Mercy Gilbert Hospital put an SED on my right leg where I had a partial knee replacement done and because of the compression and messaging it was doing it had forced my staples out of place and I was in severe burning aching pain. I had called the nurse (BEN) to please come and take this contraption off of me because I felt it was on fire. . Ben said that he could not take it off unless a doctor gave him permission to do so. I continued to call him because the burning pain was getting worse. It took more about 5 calls and 2 hours later for him to come in my room. He took the SED off and took the bandages off. I screamed at him because the incision was bleeding from the staples that were removed from the pressure of the SED.
The doctor, Steven Myerthall and his PA Michelle Barrett who preformed the surgery could not be found and never surfaced that night. That was on Tuesday night. On Thursday I developed DVTs in the right calf area, and Pulmonary Embolism's.
This surgery took place September 2010. I have been complaining that my knee felt worse than before the surgery. I was on blood thinners for eight months with complications. I would wake up in the middle of the night with blood and clots in my mouth. I have had to many CT Scans in the past two years and with the same complaint and Doctor Myerthall and his PA Michelle would say that there was nothing wrong! In June, Dr.Myerthall finally decides to order a bone scan. Well lo and behold ...it came back POSITIVE! The replacement was moved from it's original spot and is not lining up with the top part of the replacement and is causing pain when I try to kneel, walk, climb stairs, or walk for five minutes before it feels heavy. I have gone to counseling, I'm depressed and have gained 30 lbs since the surgery. I can't touch the area because it feels numb and always burning and tingling. I have back pain due to compensating for my knee. I am 60 yrs old and feel 90! I feel that the nursing staff at Mercy Gilbert hospital and Doctors Steven Myerthall and his PA Michelle Barrett are the ones that are responsible for keeping me from the truth which is that they knew about the dislocation of the replacement from the start, . Two yrs of wondering if I was going to die due to blood clots or that I would have to limp the rest of my life. The hospital nursing staff and the doctors have to be made RESPONSIBLE FOR MY PROBLEMS with not working, not having my freedom of walking, running, racquetball, dancing and of course working. PLEASE HELP ME! PLEASE.
