Metro Public Adjustment was hired to repersent us for an insurance claim it took Metro over 7 months to get our claim settled and along the way they just kept taking more money from us to hire an independent and then an umpire to try and settle the dispute with the insurance co and during the entire process we were being reassured by the adjuster and the rep from Metro is that once we get to the umpire stage that they never loose and it would be in my best intrest to proceed to that step. Well we did proceed and still lost... During the entire 7 months Metro would not return any of my phone calls and when they did it was always I don't know whats doing on. In one occurance I spoke to the Metro Rep and she advised us that we were awarded everything that was in dispute and that we are in good shape, an hour later get a phone call from the adjuster and we are being told that they need to go to the next step because nothing was awarded. It was a prime example that the left hand had no clue what the right was doing. When I questioned the metro rep I was given the response "you could have handled it yourself and have gotten nothing". I am kicking myself everyday for going with this company and I will express to everyone reading this to second guess yourself before using metro public adjustment.

First, let me address your comments. Yes. I do my taxes myself among other things. I can only talk about the issues that I have with that company! No, they don't return calls and every time I have a question, no one knows anything. I'm sure not all public adjusters are like this, but I can only go by my experience. I've been treated miserably. I can't get any satisfaction. I don't like to use the word hate, but I really hate this company. I can't in good faith or conscience recommend them to anyone. I've already told friends and family about the bad treatment I've received and warned them not to use this company or anyone associated with them. However, you are entitled to your own opinion, just don't tell me my experience is wrong! I forgot to mention that I did talk to my insurance company regarding this claim as my adjuster recommended since he couldn't figure things out.

We have had a terrible experience with Metro, even to the point where they did not pay a third party contractor, who then sued us, all the while Metro saying they were taking care of it. Turns out a judgement was entered, and appeared on our almost perfect credit report with Metro still saying they were taking care of it. Months later, when time came for my daughter to get a student loan for her final year in college, this nasty mark still showed up on our credit, student loan was denied and it took weeks to correct which subsequently added thousands of dollars in late fees for my daughter's tuition. Who, What is there to complain to about this company - insurance commission, state attorney general...? Anyone

I am so disappointed with METRO PUBLIC ADJUSTERS (Bensalem Office) and the VP of METRO of the (Cherry Hill Office) I was pretty much guaranteed that my claim would be settled in 6 weeks, it's been almost 4 months and I have not received my check yet. I had called Metro countless times, emailed, texted, left messages and not even a courtesy call. Many promises were made to me BY METRO, I was told that my entire house would be included in my claim, well only the kitchen and first floor was covered and the last I heard from Metro was that my claim had been settled FOR A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT! Did Metro cash the check and run off with my money! Well I will let you know as soon as I find out, because I am calling my attorney tomorrow and my my insurance company, and I am filing a legal complaint against Metro. I wish I would have done my homework first! This company does not return calls, and has poor bedside manner. I want out of this contract and will find a LEGAL PUBLIC ADJUSTER, that will get the job done! Now I understand why people are disgruntled, in fact pissed off. I will encourage anymore reading this to go with a reputable public adjuster, because Metro presents well, and delivers nothing in return. This is totally unacceptable, I still have fire damage and my house is a mess, they told me not to clean anything and that a restoration crew would clean my entire house, well the restoration crew came out and cleaned the first floor and refused to clean the rest until they received payment FROM METRO well their bill was outrageous. Grant it, they did a good job on what they cleaned, but the cleaning was not what METRO told me it would be! I still am haunted by the fire in my house and at least if my house was cleaned properly I wouldn't have to wake up looking at all the soot still in my kitchen and on the second floor of my house! I don't know if I should clean my house or not, because I am sick and tired of looking at this mess, and further more my kitchen is still a mess. I can't believe I got myself into this mess with Metro! So please don't be fooled by what they deem as sympathy, its not sympathy at all, its greed! Metro prayed on my tragedy and I really thought they cared!

Dis-satified with Meto - would you mind to share who you are using as an attorney? I would like to call them.
If anyone else out there knows who - what agency to file a complaint with, I would be appreciative of the information.

I am going through this right now! No one calls me back, and when I do get someone on the phone, they tell me the same thing...They don't know. What Metro did for me, I could have put the claim in myself. I was told they would get the MAX amount and negotiate the claim for me, and they have not. I was told that they would help me to the max. The actualy insurance adjuster came out, the next day a check was cut. I was told that Metro didn't even have my insurance companies estimate to review it. I was shocked when I saw how little the check was for. I said to myself, Geez, if I would have known I was gonna get nothing for the water damage, then I would have done it myself. I refuse to sign the check, cause I feel that Metro should not take 35% for doing nothing. I wish I would have done research first. I am beside myself...honestly I do not even know if it was worth this much aggrevation. I don't even know what I paid them for.
I do want to point out, that when the insurance adjuster from Metro was out here, his cell phone kept going off...and he just kept ignoring the calls...Now I know why no one can get in touch with them.
So now, I have to call my insurance company myself and negotiate with them on this claim. Does anyone know how to get Metro out of the picture? They basically are a scam and to take 35% on someones claim and really not help is disgusting!

I just attended an orientation and it seemed like it could be a scam to me after listening about half way into it.My theory on this is that if they want you to find people to file claims against they're insurance companies then they obviously don't already have the business that is needed to hire you as an adjuster.I thought maybe there was a demand for adjusters to get claims filed for people and there was a chance for me to make some $.I kinda had a bad feeling about this as I was driving almost 50 miles to get there.I guess when it sounds too good to be true then it is and every one would be jumping in on the chance.if they said I wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket and just pay them back what they spent in my training once I became established I probably would have gone through with it.Another thing that bothers me is all the complaints on this post.I'm afraid to look on Craig's list.

I had first hands with metro. our house caught on fire and the fire department captain gave me the information for metro and said this is wh you need. Jamal came to my home and I gave him my insurance information after we finish the inspection. out of the entire deal i think i came off good for a little wall fire in my basement metro sent a cleaning company to come take all of our clothes and linen out to be cleaned and the check went to out mortgage company then to us for short i got about 9, 000 and metro keep about 1500 and we paid about 8, 00 to the cleaning company total 17, 800. i purchaed a new deep freezer and repaired my basement of the smoke damage. I then used them for one rental home the main pike broke and after all estimates thet alone was 3000.00 metro got my monet for that and i then used them later on my parents home. you have to be patient and keep good paper work also learn this this is not a jog or skill for everyone so the reps who came to you may be the type who need to at a normal job not everyone can communicate and follow up on paper work. these reps sound like they were new and gave up fast.

First of all I have a question for the people who have complaints. If they do not make money unless you make money why would then not have your best interest at hand? Second you do know sometimes insurance companies will only pay out so much even if you think that they should pay more or your estimates are for more, you do realize insurance companies are the biggest scam of all. You pay your premiums and when you need them they do not want to pay out. Look at term life insurance what a joke unless you die before the term is up. We have a contracting business and do work for a fire damage company and let me tell you we are told what they tell us what is in the budget for our trade and then we have to make it work, there are plenty of time where we make nothing and are lucky if we break even. Yes in this day and age you have to be proactive for your self and sometimes you may feel as if you are doing their job. It is unfortunate that there seems to be some people in that company who do not care. But in all companies you have your bad apples. Unfortunately we live in a capitalist society and he who makes the most money wins even if it means stepping on the little person.

Other than going through my house with the adjuster from my insurance company, all Metro did for 5 months was forward my receipts and estimates to my insurance company. During that 5 months they treated me as if I didn't need to be communicated with. Metro's adjuster would not return my phone calls and on the 2 occasions I managed to contact him, he lied about what the status of the claim was. The only adjustment estimate Metro prepared was done after the 5 months when I informed them I was going to terminate the contract with them. I did terminate them any way and got another adjustment firm and what a tremendous difference!
In my opinion Metro is a scam outfit that stays just iside what they can legally get away with. They forward your estimates and receipts without doing anything else except taking their generous cut of any insurance payments. They were extremely unprofessional, non-communicative and very disrespectful.

Wow! Just unbelievable! To whom it may concern: I feel all your pain. I am an experienced, honest, competent, compassionate Public Adjuster. Just to prove my point, I will not reveal my name or contact information, as this post is NOT about my business, but the state of the Public Adjusting Industry.
I believe you and your stories about Metro! I have heard them for many years. I know the president and the person in charge of adjusting. Their business model is counter to my industry! We as an industry DO NOT hire people to go to their grandmother's house and look for covered losses!
We as an industry adjust losses for many people and businesses. Our standard fee structure is: $0 - $49, [protected]%, $50, 000-99, [protected]% over 100, 000 ---10% or less depending on the total claim. These numbers are etched in stone in the legitimate portion of my industry.
As far as cancelling the contract; this becomes more difficult. My suggestion is to pay Metro their fee as soon as possible and ask them to sign a release. With the release in hand you are free to either speak directly with the company adjuster(not reccommended) or consult with another Public Adjuster who might possibly work for a reduced fee once they understand your deliemna.Just remember, there are adjusters just like myself available...just do some homework first. I wish you all success in your claims!

I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE. I made phone call after phone call to my rep with no return call. Always got voice mail. We were promised more money than the insurance company would give us. What we got was an insurance check REDUCED by 35%. Can't get $3600 worth of damage fixed with a check for $2300. They did absolutely NOTHING in my opinion. Of excuse me, they took $1300 oy MY money. Will NEVER use again!

I have heard complaints about reps from Metro Public Adjustment not returning phone calls or, not doing their jobs right. I can't speak about anyone else but, Eddie Williams or, at least, someone from his North Jersey Point Guard team always called me back right away or the longest was first thing the next day. They didn't always know right off hand what was going on with my claim when I asked but, no longer than first thing the next day I was updated. I guess it's the same old thing, there's bad and good everywhere. So, maybe I got lucky because I live in Jersey but, I think he does Pa too. Anyway, I know one thing, whenever I have damage to my house again I'm calling Eddie. And, I would recommend him to anybody! And, I love the facebook page he set up for his team. It's educational and everything. Just like him to try and give something back. He comes across very well and so far, he's been true to his word.

I've been a licensed Public Adjuster in Illinois since they started licensing. Metro is a MLM and is more focused on their "Business Model" than on delivering quality adjusting services. The state licenses and regulates public adjusters (at least Illinois) and complaints can and should be made to the Illinois Dept. of Insurance. Actions that reflect poorly on the profession are not welcome. I have never had a complaint lodged against me and vigorously protect my reputation by under promising and over performing. My rate is 10%. Anything higher is usury and should be avoided. Anything lower is suspect as "you get what you pay for" applies. I am bonded and am required to participate in Continuing Education Classes and it should be noted, if your adjuster can't spell, type or punctuate, you have the wrong adjuster.

Every now and then one sees a paragraph or two from someone who is happy with Metro. Think about this. If you're pleased with the service, why are you visiting a complaint website? These are most assuredly submitted by Metro people. If you have a problem with Metro, contacting an attorney might not do much, but talking to your local congressman will. The very essence of Metro's business is to solicit claims; you know...make an insurance claim even if it's not particularly warranted. Sounds harmless enough? Well, think about this, folks... The more $$$ that insurance companies pay out, the higher the premiums become... FOR EVERYONE. I'll bet Metro is the main catalyst for premium increases across the midwest and on the east coast. Report them to your congressman, NOW. I know I will.
The Metro people that come your home or make annoying phone calls are NOT adjusters. They have NO adjusting experience. Yes, they studied and passed their exam. Big deal. Most don't know how to spell or do simple math. They work to earn a finder's fee. Only after you've signed the paperwork do they send out someone to estimate the potential claim. Keep in mind, there is a physical aspect to all claims. Claiming they can get 200% to 800% more is simply insane. Most oftem times, you'll actually get about half of what your insurance company would give you. How? First, you owe the deductible. Then, Metro takes 35% of the GROSS amount. Now comes the real kick in the a$$... Can an insurance company raise your rate for making a claim? In most cases, no; however, there's nothing to prevent them from dropping you altogether (it's practically a done deal if you've made three claims within a couple of years or so). AND, this information is available to ALL insurers. So, afterwards, it'll be a [censored] getting insurance for a decent rate. There's no silver lining here. Like I said, report Metro Public Adjusting to your congressman (reason, soliciting claims, causing premiums to go sky-high).

I also answered an ad threw craigslist, Nelson Santiago would not give me the name of the company he represented. Theirs a huge red flag. However I had the evening off, and their office was close by so I found out what the clompanies name was. Above all the other awful information here, they're BBB rating is a C-. Working for this company would now make me a C-

Metro says they will get you money to fix your damage but by time they take their share you are left with have to pay out of pocket to fix your claim. There is no training they hire anyone willing to take and pass the state exam. they also look for so called claims to file biggest joke is rubbing a sponge on the wall and saying you have smoke damage. They are a scam and not a real business try calling the corporate office no one answers the phone and there is no answering machine. There are real publict adjuster companies out there that do a great job and only charge 10-20%.
Insurance companies do pay out I was an insurance agent the biggest problem is that Metro makes the insurance compny make check out to both the insured and metro so you have to sign it and send it back to metro and hope you get your money in time to use it. If you have a car claim the check is made out to insured and then you pay the mechanic or body shop not the other way a round what a joke.

Name me one other Company that is an advocate for the Policyholer for small and large claims. Tell me of all these negative comments about time, How work did you actually do to get the money from your claim little to none. A scam takes people money how is Metro taking money when they get paid out of settlement and the homeowner writes no check to Metro. And Metro's Adjuster go to the same training as the Insurance Adjuster plus more. Check the facts.

After agreeing to help a friend who is looking to work for Metro, I had a vist from him last night, along with his 'trainer', a licensed claims rep for Metro, and it was not a good experience. A while ago I was told never to buy anything from a fast talker, and this guy was exactly that. Whenever I attempted to raise a concern, he cut me off and continued with his sales pitch. When I was told that the adjuster would get a cut from any profit my friend made, I immediately suspected a pyramid scheme. I was told that I'm underinsured and my deductible is too high, two adjustments that would make claims more worthwhile for them. They also expect a 35% commission, when the national average is 10 - 15%. He also said that you should file a claim every two years on average, something that's sure to drive up your rates or deny you renewal. A search on the internet revealed MANY complaints about this outfit, and everything I found from objective websites like consumer reports and bankrate conflicted with the advice I'd been given. The BBB site that I visited had a C- rating for Metro, which disagrees with another poster, so I suggest you confirm it for yourself. I'm now concerned about my friend's decision, but I'll NEVER consider doing business with this company.

Hello to all! I currently work for an independent insurance agency and saw an ad on Craigslist. My goal is to make $$$ with a reputable compay. But the reviews win and being offered a seminar visit this week in N.J. won't happen for me. The ad says nothing of how much I would have to pay, which is always a blast when you go to one of these seminars. Thank you for making this an easy decision.

I think most of your comments are insane. Most of you who have nothing but negative things to say about Metro have obviously never been involved in any business venture in your lives where you had employees work for you or as you say work under you. Corporate American is nothing but a scam. When will you wake up? Has anyone here ever been licensed in the insurance industry? What about securities? What about any outside sales profession? Well if you did you would probably say the same things about American Family Insurance or All State, or what about Charles Schwab or Merrill Lynch or what about ADT or Auto Sales. All of these professions require you to have training sales, talk to family and friends and even bring on new sales reps once you move up into some type of management. I am sure if you looked up each one of the companies that I named you would find equally negative things said about them from some unhappy customer or former employee. All of you need to grow up, stop your *itchin and find something to become successful at and stop trying to "warn" someone else that is looking to make a difference in their lives and the lives of the people they are serving.

Wow this company clearly is full of crap. I really would not of cared one bit except I answered a craigs list add for Metro. Next I did 5 minutes of due diligence. There Better Business rating C- with a litany of claims. There system for hiring sounds as B.S. as Aflac.
Any company that tries to sell to family and friends first -pretty sure to be a Pyramid.
I wish I had never sent my resume; they are probably stealing my identity and selling it to the former soviet bloc as I write this.
Yea.

METRO is the worst BETH WALT and LAURiE if that's how you spell her name can all jump off a bridge!.i am going thru a nightmare as we speak! I have the best policy Nationwide had to offer. The sad part is this is the second time I used metro. They didn't get what the scoped the first time and this time they got 10, 000 less then what was scoped. Nobody returns calls! What's funny is I have stood in my house with WALT an adjuster from metro and watched him repeatedly hit the ignore button on his cell phone. Yeah, you would think he was trying to give me his undivided attention but knowing what I know now, he could have taken a minute because that caller(s) are probably going thru what I am. He tells you to call BETH and when she does get around to calling you back she doesn't know ###! DON'T USE METRO! I was referred to them thru a contractor named DAVE and I'm not using him anymore either.. Even tho he does good work, I'm not dealing with him anymore for turning me on to such a poor set up. If u need an adjuster, surf the web and really study before you sign . My ceiling was on the floor so I had to act fast, but if I could do it all over again I would have let the mold grow! AT LEAST I COULD KILL ThE MOLD AND NOT GO TO JAIL

I was a operations project manager for a Architectural design build firm, AGC (Assassinated General contractors of America) certified master carpenter since 1995. I worked my way up hands on! Do to economy just like many others am trying to make ends meet. Insurance work will always be going because life goes on. I want to get into catastrophic claim support on home owners side! I called talked to ROB told him my desires! COME SIT IN WE LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE LIKE YOU ! I went and was hard to sit through the sales pitch! But I did listen to the whole thing! They are still in business because the insurance company has to pay and satisfy owners! This is why our rates are so high! The adjuster whom are trained in a room with slide show! Point out everything to max every claim> The insurance company has poorly trained reps just as well .. Know one knows why or what causes or if is truly from initial failure or event! Just that the no one wants to fight so it gets put on claim>> I have seen it all in the field and can fight the problem and its cause . Who pays the public adjuster? OWNER ! Every dollar to him is a dollar you dont have to fix problem ! So claim is inflated to cover ! most insurance KIDS dont know they just roll with it! As an owner if this is caught you get tied up and resolution is slow! Insurance will not cover public adjusters services ! This is never mentioned in class slide show training! The reason they have to be licensed is they get the check set to them if they can to control the money. Its not a big training thing its just what you need to pass the test . They want your family your friends your enemy ! Every one has a circle of contacts and they just want canvassers and to meet everyone you know as fast as possible to drum up work! This should be a noble trade and they are driving our rates to the moon. I blame the media ! Contractors are the crooks you hear it everyday! Find one you can trust and have him handle it! If its true he will tell you as he is there to make money and the company will pay for it and him>> The company give him 11% on material and 11% overhead and profit>> He will be just fine. You need zero skill or construction knowledge to be a public adjuster! Any house wife with average education and common sense of running a house hold would be a super star there! The class they had when I was there was sad! I swear was the homeless guy living under the bridge ! Thugs gangsters ! Normal looking ! All types they take anyones $40 bucks and contacts ! Thank GOD for this site. I thought this was a scam. I am a professional looking for a job right now. Not necessarily in what my profession was. This sounded too good to be true. But the more and more ads on Craigslist I saw about it, I thought why not, it is "Free" or so I thought, since it did not mention anything about a this "$40 fee", nor did it mention working for free until you make 3 sales, or so it sounds from the above 2-3yrs of postings. I did not send my Resume, thank GOD, to this guy. But, I did send an email expressing interest for more info, before I waste anyone's time. Especially, since no one lists the name of the company they are hiring for in any ads for employment, no matter where you look. It is a big secret as to who is hiring anymore. SO, Fast Forward to TODAY, 5/16/2012, and I get an "Invitation " to this seminar tomorrow night. STILL NO INFO ON WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS JOB AND HOW IT PAYS, OR WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO. SO, thank you all for posting your good and bad thoughts about this company. Now that I know what the name of it is, from today's INVITATION. I see a lot of bad reviews, and a lot of complaints about service. To me this sounds like AMWAY or MARY KAY sales... and people look again, I did attempt Mary Kay and AMWAY when I was young and naive, THIS IS A PYRAMID SCHEME that this company is hiring for. People stating this is not a pyramid scheme, apparently do not know what one is. People do your research, look up some of these other pyramid companies and see what they are about and compare to Metro.. It is the same deal. I beleive that some people can do it, but some just are not cut out for it. I personally am old enough now, that I do not feel it is appropriate to harass my friends and neighbors for Metro.

I am a person who was offered employment from them. I consider myself an honest person who would have a hard time sleeping at night if I "stole" other peoples money to make a living. So which is why I found this blog. Before I work for a company now I like to research it. My last company expected me to lie to customers for business. And I will not do it.
I have seen/read most of the comments here. Some made comments about "employees" going on and making good comments about the company they work for. I am not denying that is possible. But also, with that being said keep this in mind. How do we not know that the bad comments here were not made via insurance company employees trying to sway public opinion about Metro because they get more money out of the company they work for. Because they expose the fraud in insurance companies. Just keep that in mind, thank you so much everyone.

I can produce documentation of plenty of satisfied customers. I have been with metro two years and the training is second to none. There are people who don't run their buisness properly in all industries. As far as your rates going up simply for using a public adjuster...do your homework. Insurance rates go up every year due to rising costs of materials to re-build your home regardless if you put a claim in or not.

I have carefully read the majority of these comments. I 'd like to make a couple points. First, the casual use of vulgarity in a critique of a professional business not only reflects poorly upon the author but negates any validity in point. I'd like to hear your views but the moment that you can't control written expletives, I must dismiss the remainder of the complaint as the groanings and rants of a madman. Secondly, at the conclusion of this text you will find my signiture (of sorts) and an E-mail address as well. I definitely will stand by and claim anything I have penned. An unsigned complaint bears no authority nor credence. When I take the time to compose a lucid well expressed complaint, I most certainly want the reader to know exactly who wrote it and a contact point should there be question or rebuttal. A statement made without authority can easily be dismissed as the retribution of a disgruntled employee or a dishonest tactic from a business competitor. I thank you all for your input and influence as they will certainly be calculated in as I examine Metro Public Adjustments with increased intensity. -Ken U. lancelot714@yahoo.com

This has to be a scam! This place has been running a help wanted ad in our local small paper for months now and I pass the place where they "train" you all the time and there are several cars parked there every Mon and Thurs without fail...these people are getting scammed to spend their money to learn a job that as far as I'm concerned doesn't exist. You don't need a 'public adjuster' to handle an insurance claim...if you don't think the quote an insurance company is giving you for your claim, you don't need an 'adjuster' to do research that you can do yourself to validate a higher claim payment! The first time the ad ran, I called, looking for employment myself and having worked as a p&c insurance underwriter. I knew immediately this was one of those employment scams. As desperate as you may be to find work, and as good as the guy makes it sound when you call, don't waste your time and money! I have no proof, but common sense tells me something fishy is going on with this place!

It doesn't surprise me one bit some peoples claims took many months to over a year once a "public adjuster" got involved. Do you think your insurance company wants to pay out MORE or LESS on your claim? Sounds to me like Metro is actually offering a service in the public interest. Yes, no doubt it benefits them to what may be higher than average cut, but I know this outfit has been around for awhile, and if they were doing something truly shady they would've been long gone a few years ago. Chalk up the 35% fee to likely being the big player in the industry. Ask yourself who else you know of that does this? I can't name anybody. It's also likely people get into this gig who aren't cut out for it and disappear, which explains the un-returned phone calls. Likely an overworked higher up has to pick up the slack for yet another new recruit gone AWOL. I don't work for Metro, but years ago I sat through the sales pitch. And I am desparate for work at this point and my aunt said she saw this ad in a local newspaper and forwarded me the info. I didn't recognize "Property Adjustment 717", but after I forwarded my resume to them and received a reply from Mike Swartzer at Metro Property Adjustment, and started looking into the name and found this message board, it started coming back to me. It doesn't seem at all like a scam, but it doesn't seem like the easiest way to make a buck. I already do real estate and property inspections for a living and have many connections in the insurance industry. So I suppose when I find out whether or not this is not a conflict of interest I may just take advantage of this opportunity. I didn't have all the connections years ago I have now. My advice to anybody thinking of signing on with a public adjuster (a contract) would be KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING! If it states you may not receive settlement for up to X amount of years or months and half your house is missing from storm damage, you better be able to make other arrangements in the meantime. Don't be stupid about it. The insurance company wants to pay you as little as possible, and you want your moneys worth for all those years of premiums you've paid.

How can they be a waste of money when dealing with damage claims if you don't ever pay them..You all are not informing the public about that you didn't pay for Metro service and those that wanted to join didn't bother to even try to help others you were just interested in a company giving you money instead of earning your pay. Metro may not be the best company but it is one of the largest and is working on issues it has but this does not hamper getting our clients more than they could on their own.
