What’s really going on??
I saw an ad for a job on Monster as a public insurance adjuster through Metro. I have a background in this type of work so I clicked on the link, which took me to a video. In this video they tell you they have been in business for 28 years, they are an industry leader, with virtually no competition. There is no selling, or cold calling, no product to sell and they don’t even sell the service. Then said for about a hour or two they pay employees 20% of the company fee, (Company fee for a service you don’t sell) which equals $600 per claim in my pocket. He says, there are a lot of people that could use their services, It’s just not a lot of people know about them. How are you in business for 28 years and not a lot of people know about about you? That is red flag for me. They make it sound like you can make $30,000 A year by doing four claims a month. Full-time, on the low end would be 150,000 a year. It struck me as too good to be true. Hence why I’m on this site. He said nothing about having to pay anyone for training. In fact, he stated no overhead, nothing to get started. So as I’m reading these other reviews, I’m thinking to myself these people are misleading. Not only that, but the biggest complaint is pay and that’s the one thing they emphasized that you would get a lot of. I would’ve liked to try it however there are too many complaints on the same issues. These were already red flags in my head, before I even read the reviews, just based off watching the video. You know what they say if it’s too good to be true…
Recommendation: Don’t be fooled or misled.
Metro Public Adjustment Complaints 19
No service and no response for months
Worked with Paul Peck from Metro, his first adjuster came and investigated a claim, measured house for a rod, floor and window claim after my house was hit by a tornado. Claim agent leaves the company with no one knowing for months. Nothing done with my claim. Paul himself comes to my home, promises to fix this problem and send a letter from his lawyers to the insurance company, never heard from him again . Now 6 months or so from that date
Desired outcome: Claim to be reopened with insurance company and a lawyer letter
insurance adjustment
Terrible...This is the most awful unprofessional company I have ever dealt with in my life. I would never recommend them to handle anyone's claim.
instead of going through my insurance and paying a $500 deductible. a friend recommended Metro (Paul).
Almost 2 months. Paul got $600 my insurance got paid $500 and I am getting $1, 700 to repair a $2, 500 job. They bled me dry.
Its been almost 2 months and I still have nothing yet and whats worse is they are still sending me paper work to sign that was taken care of weeks ago.
misrepresentation of the process
This is a scam. I signed a contract with Metro on the basis that they would recover money for damages to my home, I could serve as my own contractor, and could use the surplus for other repairs. In the past, when I received a claim from my insurance company, I received so little that I was literally forced to do the work myself. So I contracted this company so I would get enough to cover the claim. The salesman assured me that I would receive such a large settlement that I could do other work to my home. Once they settled, I was told a) that the mortgage company would cut and release a check to me and b) by someone else that the work would be monitored requiring me to hire an external contractor (which means money out of pocket). In the first place, I was angry at having the results of this completely represented to me (I was lied to by the adjuster) and then having the office play hard ball with me and threaten me with collections when I threatened to refuse the settlement. They were not polite at all. The woman on the phone at the office was hostile and rude. The adjuster was a liar who misrepresented what would happen from day one. And the two employees I dealt with were telling me two different stories about what was happening. In fact, the person in the office said that the adjuster didn't know what he was talking about. Stay as far away from this company as you can get.

insurance
I have been a field adjuster for 3 big Insurance companies for 30 years. Unfortunately I have ripped off thousands of homeowners because at the time I was paid a salary from the insurance companies not pay the homeowner the amount they should have received to what i actually offered them. I even denied homeowners telling them their claim wasn't legit, when I knew in my heart it actually was. I would feel terrible inside... There are 2 reasons why I got away with it. 1. Homeowners never read their policies and don't understand their rights as a homeowner. 2. Homeowners never hired a public adjuster...
4 years ago I retired, I then had a claim at my house. I then called Metro Public Adjustment. They were fantastic the way they handled my claim and the professionalism they showed me. As a former field adjuster I know how the Insurance companies are and they don't like to pay, however Metro got my claim settled and I received every penny I deserved. Thank you Metro.
Prospective candidate and poor quality thereof
A few weeks ago I received an unusual email from someone with the first name Emmet but this person gave no identifying information on him/herself which I thought at first was not straightforward at all as the other 99% of emails, IMs or even calls that are remotely legitimate and not made for 'other reason's are.
This Emmet simply asked for the Website to my/our Metro Ad so I replied that like 100's if not 1000's of others in actually applying for the position provided as requested for in the Ad which this person ignored-I asked for a full name, cell number and email address.
After that I replied with all the offices' presentations and with my full signature which this person went to town on.
Emmet without asking me IM'd me that I was 88=*&^^^ countless expletives so I cannot reprint sames accusations and curses. Same said we were all snake oil salesmen and personally threatened and attacked me for no reason whatsoever.
After I received the first email to my C/L Ad I called at 6:30pm and there was no answer and got a simple question reply as to why I was calling Emmet at that time.
Are you kidding me? Most people to make ends meet work 60-80 hour weeks and several jobs as I do but I rarely call much later than 6pm but who knows what precipitated this emotional attack from this Emmet.
Many outsiders are just looking to cause trouble for the sake of it and are jealous and base their attacks not on the facts that we work by the rule of law as we are licensed by the state and the ONLY NATIONAL PUBLIC ADJUSTING COMPANY IN THE USA and only try to get the maximum for our clients and all property owners from the most meager means to ones who own billions of dollars' worth of property.
This should serve as a warning to people like Emmet who use name calling, curses and outright lies to attack hard working honest people like myself and be careful should they they threaten you and keep your due diligence sharp as I would not hesitate for a second once they break the law and slander or libel you or come close which I am doing so to protect myself and thankfully we at Metro are well prepared for these attacks.
We are the best and people with emotional problems of their own aside from insults based on lies they themselves make up belittle them and not the person and or the company they attack.
Linkup77: There is absolutely zero punctuation in the paragraphs written by you. It’s very hard to understand any of it. Thanks anyway.
Initial employment question
I responded to an ad in Craigslist for a part time job. I received an email from a guy who signed his email, 'preachers son'. I reviewed his companies web site and real the abundance of complaints on this and many other sites. Then within 15 minutes I received a call, which I didn't answer at dinner time (6:15 PM) on Saturday night. I didn't answer and then googled the number. It was listed to Dave something and the listing said claims adjusting, just like Metro.
I texted the number back and requested he not call me at dinner time on Saturday night. I also emailed the other guy back and asked him why he gave my number out for somebody to call me at dinner time.
I then received profanity laced emails from him and texts from Dave calling me loser and hasicidic Jew (I'm Irish catholic, so I can't imagine what that was about). It was just unbelievable.
I told both of these characters to stop contacting me and that I will be reporting them to their company Monday morning.
These people are modern day snake oil salesmen. Nothing more than lying con artists offering a questionable product to unsuspecting home owners who are desperate.
Anyone who takes a job with these people will be very, very sorry. They are truly the #### of the earth!
Ripoff and poor service
I decided to use this company as they had told me that they will help me through. However, that is not what is going on right now. They let you sign the agreement with 35% for them to charge you on every check you get in top of that you pay extra at the end when i received our first check they send it for me to sign and my bank but belong with the check there are few papers that you have to sign 1st you have to pay thei attorney amount of 350, processing for amount of 600 and the check process for amount of 200. You would of think everything should be included from the 35% that taking out from you. So, we got $30k but total we will get was only $18k. I was even told by name if amy when i asked her that get all the cheap #### like laminate in my house. We just our furnace and insulation done we ended up putting out pocket for the amount of $1k additional ti finished up the job. Now our floor and kitchen needs to be done as well and i will be expecting just $6k well this check that i am receiving from insurance is totaled of $11k but of course they have to take their share their saying lol. However, if you are planning on filling claim i will tell you now that you can fule a claim within 1 yr of the damage i believe, the $1k deductible that insurance from you is not coming out you pocket they will take that out of your claim that your fillin. It is the best for you to do it yourself believe it or now because at least you will get your money and you have the rights on fighting it back if you think it is not enough. I full regret it hiring these people! J always that karma is a ##### and how can these people sleep at night knowing they are fooling their clients. Also, they can feed their family from dirty job.
Refund not paid
I was recruited by James Cash to possibly become ea Public Adjuster with Metro Public Adjusters, headquartered in Bensalem, PA. Shortly after the initial meeting, I decided not to pursue the position. At that time, Mr. Cash gave me his word, a personal promise, that he would refund the $40 I had already paid for training materials. He never sent me the refund, never responded to my calls or e-mails or texts. Ever
ripped off alot of money we did all the work they took a huge percentage which was 35% it was suppose to 25% phone calls not returned lie to about contract big rip off do not use this company
ou should direct your concerns to Larry Lowry, Chief Operating Officer. Call [protected] abd ask for him directly.
Insurance Claim
I hired Metro Public Adjustment to assist me in making sure that my fire claim paid me enough to cover the damages that were done to my property. My case was reassigned twice, slowing the process down immensely. I haven't heard from my adjuster from Metro in over a week, and today the adjuster from my insurance company sent Metro a check based on her own estimate. Basically, I am expected to pay 15% of what my insurance company would have paid me originally because I signed a contract, even though Metro did absolutely nothing for me. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.

Insurance collections
Jamal the public adjuster was called in to assist with a small electrical fire in the basement that resulted in some damage after the fire department was called in. Jamal informed my family that we had nothing to worry about and that everything would be handled by his company. He then proceeded to call a clean up company (CPR) to help with the issue that was left behind. We decided to let the public adjuster deal with the situation since my parents had a good experience with a different public adjustment company in the past. Everything he said was far from the truth. The company staged my home to get maximum insurance reimbursement, took their portion of it, left all of the trash and staging at my home, deferred the companies that they hired and were supposed to take of to me and disappeared. Now I was stuck with the trash that the cleaning agency piled in my backyard and the bill for work that wasn't even done. This is one of the worst experiences with a company I have ever had. I tried calling the company several time but they always defer me to Jamal who conveniently sent me to voicemail each time.
Poor service
I hired Metro Public Adjustment after an apartment fire left me and my son homeless. I did have renters insurance.
Initially they were fine to deal with. As time went on, they were less and less responsive and actually ended up dropping my claim after Hurricane Sandy hit. I am now being sued by one of the vendors they recommended. I cannot get my Adjuster, Jamal Talib, a VP at the company, to return my calls or respond to my emails.
I would advise anyone to NOT use this company for any reason.

My aunt hired Metro Adjustment Inc. on Feb 8, 2023 to manage her claim. Metro agreed to manage my aunts water damage claim. From Feb 2023 my aunt couldn’t get any answers about her claim. Emails or phone calls were not responded to. I got involved in the claim because of my background in June 2023 and that’s when I told my aunt at some point she would need to cancel the contract because Metro adjusters (Bill and Katrina) was giving her the run around. They never produced any documents to support their work but took 35% of the first insurance settlement. They were to provide my aunt an estimate of damages compared against the insurance company’s estimate. That was promised July 10. It’s been 3 months and my aunt continues to be lied to and given the run around about the estimate. She’s out $32,000 which is 35% of the initial claims settlement but there’s been no services received from Metro to substantiate their 35% fee. Metro Adjustment Inc are not qualified to manage claims and I’m filing a complaint with my state’s insurance commissioner since the individuals are licensed to do business in my state of residence.
Crooks
Rotten crooks. Steve and his possie of thrives rake everyone over. Bill his ### assistant are out for themselves. They treat their adjusters like ### and always screw them. Men and women work very hard for this company only to be burned over and over. Work hard and expect them to screw you. If it means Bill or Steve can make more off of you. They will. Terrible business model and dishonesty will bring them down. No company can thrive with this going on. Stay away. Don't hire them. Don't work for them. They are awful. Inside out.

Waste of money
I recently used metro public adjusters at the suggestion of a friend. This friend was a employee of the company for about a month and recommended them to me. Of course for 30% of the fee of which he got a small percentage. And it goes up the chain just like the pyramid scheme that it is. Anyway it has taken over a year and 90% of the leg work on my part to get my check. The company and representitive are a rip off and you could do the same thing yourself. They pride themselves on getting you the most money and protecting you because you hire them. Beleive me nothing could be further from the truth. After numerous calls that never get returned. Lost paper work and blaming the problem on your insurance company. If it sounds to good to be true! Beleive me it is!

Should I or Shouldn't I
This is NOT a complaint but a polite suggestion to anyone reading the contents on this web site:
Firstly I am NOT a Metro Public Adjusters employee. I attended one introduction presentation.
There are both complaints and compliments about this company on this site.
By all means read them if you wish to but before you arrive at any definite conclusion, don't be swayed one way or the other by what you read here. Check them out (experience it ) for yourself and then arrive at your conclusion based about your subjective experience. A famous philosopher stated: What is TRUE for YOU is TRUE...and THAT"S what matters.
Personally I am still undecided about pursuing this income making opportunity. First impressions are very important (for me anyway) and the person who did the presentation which I attended spoke highly of himself and his achievements and not too modestly and the great income making potential that exists IF you really work at it ...yet what bothered me is that he was dressed slovenly
(suit jacket and pants did not match, pants were stained, shoes were dull and looked like cement droplets had splattered upon them.
The idea is somewhat like AMWAY in that you get others to work under you and get a percentage of what they bring in.
I'm NOT saying their is anything wrong with that if that's how you want to do it. It was stressed several times that there is no strict work schedule or pressure from management on employees. You put in to it only what you want...when you want.
It sounds really great for the homeowner IF indeed they get as much more money for their claim (as Metro's service implies they do) than if they just file the claim themselves. Good luck to you in your decision making. Maybe I'll see you there! LOL

This is a long drawn out scam. pitiful way of dealing with people who trusted you. John Mesco has personally lied, never called back and did absolutely nothing to help my elderly husband and I.
after an aggressive adjuster twisted the truth and Mr Mesco just dropped helping us. he gives no explanation- we were told to have the adjuster back and after that we have been given no help.
Mr Mesco said he would be here when the adjuster was here. instead he called. did nothing and never even listened to our side of what is happening.
Trudi,
Thank you for bring this to our attention. We take any accusation of insurance fraud very seriously. You can be assured that we will investigate your accusation and take the appropriate action against the individuals responsible.
This is not the standard of business that Metro stands for.
BTW, a cursory examination of Metro representatives does not reveal your name. Please message me privately so I can get all the details.
Thank you.
I answered an ad in the Coast Star Newspaper, Property Inspectors with Metro, I was being trained by John Mesko, who runs his Metro business out of his Avon NJ home, Metro was training me to take pre-existing damage to homes, damage that was months to years old, and put on the Insurance Claim From, a current date of loss, Insurance Fraud, that's how Metro made all its money that all the Metro employees brag about.
Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. At Metro Public Adjustment we take seriously all suggestions and complaints, whether good or bad, and rest assured we will look into this make sure that the situation is straightened out. Again, thank you for taking time to bring this to our attention.
Job Search Scam
Currently I am unemployed and I am seeking job. I respond to a Craig's List post about this job. After sending a resume, I got a swift response email that had time and directions and suite number for an "Orientation" . So I go there, there I asked one of the building workers were I could find the suite number I was given. he kind of half shook his head as he led me down to what seemed to be the basement of the building. I entered the suite and a women led me to a room for a presentation with about ten other people. We were all handed applications to fill out. We then were shown a video claiming insurance companies were these sick monsters out to rip you off. Then women came in and talked about wiping a sponge on the wall and if there's dirt on then there's smoke damage, now I get a little sketched out, Later on, the "Executive Vice President" entered the room. He talked more about how we can make all this money blah blah and it started to sound like what people used to say about Amway, I thought I might just be paranoid and I was really desperate for work so I stayed for the rest of this orientation and handed in my application. He then asked me if I can come in for training later on in the day I said "alright" but when I got home to check these guys out...Wow! I never have seen so many complaints reported online! I felt pretty awful about this and very angry. These worthless ### feast off of job seekers who are having a tough time as it is and wasting their time and trying to do what I now learned is a "MLM scheme" This is the most disgusting thing I have ever encountered. After doing my research, I am worried that they are going to lurking around my house and calling me up to sell me ###. I HOPE ALL OF THESE WALKING PIECES OF GARBAGE ROT IN HELL!

Scam
Metro Public Adjustment is one of the biggest scams going - not just for the homeowners they promise to " represent " and bilk out of millions in insurance money, but also the people they mislead with their recruitment rubbish. You are always much better off dealing with your insurance company on your own . You will get your money much faster and not be taken to the cleaners by these wolves in sheeps clothing. Do not let these con artists into your house - don't let them talk you into signing anything.
This company needs to be investigated by the Insurance Commission, and they should be shut down and made to repay all of the money they charged people for doing nothing !

My guess is that all the horrible bad reviews must come from home owners insurance providers. I'm in training and I'm very happy, I've been able to help two family members, my landlord and even my boss, who's a very successful Financial Adviser, he was happy to help me and accepted the free insurance review and asked all the questions to my trainer that I wouldn't have ever think about and totally approved Metro for me..He has even recommended me to clients and friends. I believe it's an honorable career. insurance companies, please just look at their adds, paying A lists Hollywood actors, wake up! It's crazy when I educate people how much they ignore about their policies and if you say the wrong word when making a claim, forget it, your claim gets denied, anyways, I'm learning so much.
Any company that will hire ANYONE who is willing to sign on, is not a company you want to work for.
I just finished my "interview", which was nothing more than a sales pitch. It was a Zoom meeting, understandable given the whole Covid situation. However, it was listed on Zip Recruiter as an "interview" for a job that paid 90k a year (no mention of commission whatsoever).
I log in for this "interview" in full business attire, given it claimed to pay 90k a year - who wouldn't? The answer: EVERYONE else. There were 30 people in this "interview", most of whom in sweats and looking like they just rolled out of bed.
I thought to myself, "I got this one"... Even though it quickly became apparent it was a commissioned position. I am in real estate now so I took that jab on the chin and pressed on, pay for production is not a bad gig if you have the right company behind you. However, low and behold, he wanted EVERY one of the misfits in this bunch. They don't care if you are blind, crippled, or crazy, they will sign you! Not only that, they will come off as desperate to land as many people as possible.
They don't care about YOU the salesperson, they want to cast a net to reel in as many people as they can in hopes that you "know a guy" who is in need of an adjuster. After that, you can starve to death for all they care.
MOVE ON TO THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY!
I just gotten done the same type of interview. We had 20 people but when i tried to start "training" it requires me to have a Facebook account. Why would i need one to watch a video that should be done professionally on their website?
Thank you for this info. I too am in Real Estate which as you know is slow right now, so I was looking for some side thing to make money to fill in my financial gap. My interview was scheduled for this morning but the more I thought about it the more I was like ya ok I don't need this kind of stress to go through more training and get licensed etc to struggle to make a commission check ugggggg. Finding a job today is a nightmare. I have cancelled my interview.
Hey Hunter, Facebook Group was created to centralize all the daily training into archived form, for your convenience. We do have a website called Metcore.com There are at least 6 hours of video training to pass the State test for your license. The owner spends a huge amount of money supporting us independent contractors. I love the company and have been paid very well. It is a career and I have been very successful just handing out business cards to people I meet in my daily travels around town. I have many police officer clients who refer me. Our biggest job is educating the homeowners about what a public adjuster does to help protect the homeowner. Believe it or not, a fire chief told me to tell my aunt to get a public adjuster, when her home burned to the ground. I was shocked and had no idea what he was talking about. But, he told me 3xs to tell my aunt to hire a public adjuster and then walked away. My uncle was a former volunteer, this is why he took the time to educate me. My aunt was out of town and I was asked to go check on her home, which was on fire when I arrived. Many wealthy people are public adjusters who only go to fires or work in there tight net community to help with 1 million to 10 million dollar claims. MetroPA specializes in small claims over $5,000. I have numerous clients who are very happy with the increased money they received with my teams help. The owner has a whole staff to support us. There are many moving parts the homeowner doesn't realize. We even have preferred vendor law firms that work closely with us, and fight for the homeowner for bad faith lawsuits against the homeowner's insurance provider. Bad faith is when the insurance company has a duty to pay and settle a claim and the Insurer refuses to pay out the money, after we built a forensic file for the client. There are 2 types of public adjusters with MetroPA: The Claim Representative and the Field Adjuster. The claim Rep. finds the clients and gets the contract signed. We also help get the client answers. The Field Adjuster actually uses an Xactimate builder assessment software, in which they have to pay for monthly out their pocket. It is very expensive. The Field Adjuster builds forensic file and does forensic accounting as I call it. In commerce, the bank and insurance system is built on valid assessments being presented when an accident happens. The owner of MetroPA has sent me to the Carribean on an all expenses paid trip last year. This year, I believe I qualified for the same type trip. I had a walk out pool from the back exit of my hotel room. Beach Fire luau. Rooftop endless pool. 5 Star restaurants inside the resort. We never had to leave. I can go on and on about Metro. The $90k is full-time representatives. About $40k part-time. But, there are Reps that make over $300k a year. We do not talk about this much, because Steve give us the opportunity to build a team, like a real estate office. Steve pays bonuses to the Public Adjuster Trainees. I have seen trainees get paid $200 to $500 a claim. Yes, we have some claims that are very hard, because the Insurance Company hires 3rd Party Independent Adjusters who the Insurer can fire for any undisclosed reason. Then my field adjuster and office staff have to start all over in the negotiation process. This is very frustrating for us and the homeowner. There are many moving parts, but my staff does an excellent job staying on top of the mortgage company who has the lien on many of our client's homes.
It's funny that you mention all of the possible good things, but a few major problems are NOT discussed. I was laid off by Nationwide as a property claims rep and adjuster, so this looked intriguing. Problem 1 - minimal to no help by my "mentor" - I set up meetings on my own, both in-house and zoom, but my mentor, who was supposed to show me how to set up and handle these client meetings, never followed through. You have to produce 3-4 "practice" claims from these meetings to be released on your own; the mentor is supposed to show you how to do that. Nope, I couldn't get a hold of him in the evenings when I was available, so I was told by corporate to send the info to him, and he ended up taking the credit for the claims. I worked for a year and never got credit for my 3-4 "practice" claims I produced, or the other two claims - both in the near 6 figures. I never received a check. Nothing. Another issue - the cost and time for their "adjuster classes" in Bensalem. 8 weekdays of training around a weekend, you're responsible for travel to and from, hotel accommodations, food, etc. And it costs, at the time of my involvement, $8000 for the same training I got as an employee and was licensed for at Nationwide...I still had an active license for every state. Nope, not good enough. Another problem - the state of Ohio had NO ACTIVE ADJUSTERS TO REACH OUT TO...you had to be waitlisted if you had a property for which you wrote up a claim! I was advised it could be 3-4 months for an adjuster to make it to me - uhhhh, are homeowners really going to wait that long for a settlement? Most insurance companies require a claim within 1 year of the damage. And finally, the 15% cut from the insurance settlement - funny how all of the folks that laud how great Metro is fail to mention the cost to the homeowner for our "services" - say State Farm's settlement is $50000, $7500 of that is payment to Metro, and it is going directly to the adjuster, and up through the multi levels of the organization BEFORE the claims rep gets his cut...Meanwhile, the homeowner is only getting $42500 of that...Metro negotiates the claim settlement UP so they get a bigger cut of the pie. Sorry, this is the way it worked during my year with the company. I left and never looked back...
It's going to cost me over $9000 and 18-24 months to get licensed with no time to work another job as the training itself is already full time. THEN it takes months got any income to start rolling in. Totally MLM too.
I have built a business with Metro. Training is free, and the trainees are paid a minimum of $600 and easily covered the expenses to get licensed. HOW did this guy conclude such a cost $9,000?
Interesting, you say the Insurance Commission should investigate. They are regulated by the Insurance Commission. They are one of the oldest Public Adjustment firms in the country and one of the largest. I have seen them work miracles many times. Interesting though, when I started reading your post, I thought you were ranting about Insurance Company agents.. (are you an Insurance company agent?)
...for sure
My 88 year old mother's steam heat malfunctioned causing water to damage her carpets, plaster ceilings walls and wood floors in several rooms. Her insurance company wrote her a letter after she put in the claim that they **suspected fraud** and would not pay. I helped her adjust the claim as a Metro rep. but we still had to bring them to mediation; after this legal proceeding they offered $2, 000 on damage that would cost more than $12, 000 to repair. So we went to court. After almost 2 years they paid $9K on the courthouse steps. The insurance company knows that most 88 year old women would not have the fortitude or desire to fight for what the policy they bought provided for and this is how a million dollars a year bottom lines boomed to billions in profits - one household at a time.
The government licenses public adjusters to represent the property owner. It is understood property owners need representation.
The industry changed their practices in 1992 so that all insurance contracts now require the Property Owner to Document their Damage.
Jay Feinman, Esq. documented this fact in his Book Delay Deny Defend "The change started when consulting giant McKinsey & Company sold Allstate and other leading insurance companies on a new system to boost the bottom line: Rather than adjusting claims the traditional way, which gave claims managers wide latitude to serve customers, insurers embraced a computer-driven method that produced purposefully low offers"
Today we remember superstorm Sandy the home pictured here is still waiting for the insurance company to pay so they can have it placed on a permanent foundation. Unfortunately most face Sandy recovery on their own, lost their homes to foreclosure due to insurance company payment delays to numerous to report here but well known by those impacted by it.
They delay paying fire claims as well. A disaster for the families and to business but a windfall for the companies.
I was not an adjuster when my friend Debbie H. of Maplewood lost her home to foreclose due to insurance payment delays, she used up her credit to live and provide for her family while she tried to fight and had to drain her 401K to survive. She ended up in a shelter and called me. I was able to help her with free housing while she got back on her feet but she lost her home and her life savings.
Yes there is a reason the government licensed public adjusters. People do not know what is covered and sometimes feel they have 100% replacement only to learn their personal property may not be covered at all - after disaster hits. These are some reasons people are disappointed and feel they were not treated well.
We have a doublewide manufactured home. When Florence hit, it spawned a tornado which hit our house. It did $50, 000 worth of damage. Farm Bureau and North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association sent us checks totaling $24, 000 and said the claim was closed. We hired Metro Public Adjustment and 3 months later we received 2 checks from NC Ins. Underwriting 1 for $2, 085.90 and 1 for $32, 600.32. Their cut was $5, 800 which means we got an extra $28, 000.
Before becoming a licensed and bonded public adjuster for the state of NC (by the same government agency that oversees insurance companies - so those calling us scammers look rather [censored]ic), I worked for State Farm where I was encouraged and trained to get claims closed out as quickly as possible for as little money as possible. ALL insurance companies operate the same way. They're in the business of making money. Public Adjusting companies like Metro are in the business of making money, too. They just prefer to do it by making the insurance companies indemnify homeowners the way their policies promise to, and then taking a cut. I don't feel bad about that at all.
If you are an insurance company it's most profitable for you to collect premiums and pay out as little as possible to claimants. If the amount your insurance company quotes to you minus the settlement metro gets you minus 35% of that settlement leaves a balance, you've won. That's again, ins quote - (end settlement x .35) = cost benefit of settling through metro.
I am most of the way through a claim handled by Metro. They do not communicate as well as they could. A simple internal claims coordinator position might clear that up nicely. Or if my assigned adjuster would respond a bit better to emails. As to the results, so far three insurance checks have come through, made out jointly to my wife and I and to Metro PA. We cosigned and returned them to Metro the very next day. Within a week our share came back to us via check from Metro. They handled everything with the insurer. I really did not expect much from insurance. After the first check, then came another, and another. This was all over a roof failure that led to attic mold. Then during re-roof and re-sheath, it turned out more sheathing panels were bad than originally estimated. Then a mold remediation firm was needed to deal with mold on the gable walls. That was Green Home Solutions and I highly recommend them. That's how we got to three claims - original ($12000), more sheathing (another 4000) and then mold remediation (another $1600. . One reason my claims are moving along nicely is probably that I had the cash in the bank to fund these repairs without having to wait for insurance or Metro. The insurers need to see a signed contract for the repairs, a proof of loss form, and evidence the repair was done (photos). That allows Metro to get the insurance money moving.
I had a huge leak in my basement, and the insurance company said they don't cover any flood damage and an insurance adjuster came and said we can give you $800 and the suggested a horrible contractor ended up being way worse, i thought i was screwed and had to end up paying almost 7000 in repairs, my friend suggested a public adjuster i had never heard of them before. They explained everything they do and everything they help with including not having to talk to insurance anymore during that claim. It was a damn relief because they gave me so many issues, and my insurance company never called. Then i had another guy come and check more thoroughly and he said we can help. After they put in a claim, a little over 3 months i get a check for 11, 000 and then i send the check to them, they get there cut and eneded up with over $8000 i fixed everything using only $4800 and still $3200 to play with, another great thing i can use whatever contractor i chose. I was more than happy with my experience, and i wouldn't mind doing that for a side job, that is why i looked into it, and was surprised to find some of these comments.
I JUST walked out of meeting. Found this blog during meeting. It's a complete waste of time. Watched "60 minutes" for the first 20 min about how insurance companies rip off consumers, then some bozo gets up there. Didn't even let him get into it. I'm glad a saw this blog, and walked straight outa there. ###. Gosh.
The point made by the "60 Minutes" program was how people have been so defrauded by the Insurance Companies they were unable to repair their homes. The show can be watch in full on Youtube and the conclusion states nothing different. Its 5 years and people are still unable to move back into their homes. For you this was a waste of time. For people that are defrauded after a catastrophic loss, their lives are ruined unless the get help; if their case is large enough - an attorney will help themt but more often than not these cases are too small and only a public adjuster can help. Each week another house that was lifted falls into the ground due to the failure of the homeowner receiving enough money to install a new foundation. Helping people with these issues, I gather, was not appealing to you. I agree its not for everyone. I lost everything in Sandy and I know.
Wrongly Repersented
I implore everyone to reconsider using Metro Adjustment Inc for anything. I was wrongfully represented, bamboozled, while I was vulnerable and in a state of shock of the possibility of losing my home to fire. My insurance company awarded me $7779.00, when Metro and their cohorts got finished I received $714.00, I can not repair my property with what was left.

Metro has been in business since 1995, nothing illegal about it. Feel free to let the department of Justice know. Here's their link.
http://www.justice.gov/usao/contact.html I work for Metro in the midwest region, we are very comfortable with you contacting any enforcement agency you would like. Let me know if I can send you any other addresses.
This operation calls for a serious investigation...Why don't the FEDS and State fine then or close them down? Something dose not add up! They must have some political connections. This just can’t be legal? In my 50 years of business I have never seen anything operate like this without the FEDS eventually getting involved. What the hell are they doing? Exploiting nice honest hard working people.
Of the fees you are talking about, only $40 goes to Metro, the other fees go to the agency that runs the test for the state and the state itself Metro is charging you $40 for the training and reimbursing $450 once you finish training. Those fees are set by these outside agencies NOT by Metro.
It is not. Unfortunately, this is a question for your trainer, not the complaintboard.
i guess doing family and or friends is like part of training which is why they want you 100% licensed to do anyone else and then they reimburse you once completed it sounds like a scam
they said it was illegal to get anyone but family and or friends until we were 100% licensed i worded it wrong but as of 2011 the license fee dropped to $70 but this company still charging $170
You don't have to use your "3 friends and family." Any three claims will do! As you know, this is a state licensed profession, and they can not pay you until you have a license from the state..
i applied at metro public adjuster inc. they want me to pay out of pocket
$40 - intial cert
$47 - for exam
$71 - for finger printing
$100 - for bond for state department for insurance and banking
$170 - for license
equals around $450
and once completely licensed they claim they will reimburse you once you have 3 of your friends and family fill out a claim
is this a scam
In regards to Metro I was a customer and found them to do very well by me and some friends and family members. I know for a fact they will not take a fee if they cannot get you more money from your insurance company and it is right in the agreement you sign with them. The complaints where it states they took a fee from the same amount the insurance company already offer is an untrue statement, just read the paperwork you sign with them, they actually agree to not take a fee if they cannot get you more funds then you already received on your own. The lady with the fire, if you were already offered an amount and it was agreed upon by the insurance company then that is impossible to lose that much.
Remember some folks just like to complain even when they are given the best service possible, like a waitress who gives great service and cannot just cannot make everyone happy because some people just do not know how to be happy with good service. This applies to any industry, can't please them all.
A company with a 99.98% satisfaction rate is OK by me and should be by most standards, be reasonable, people even hate Donald Trump but the over all performance of his hotels is wonderful! You can't make everyone happy because some people are just unhappy people and never satisfied, but again Metro has done well by me, family members and friends of mine and I would recommend them over and over, how could you not with a 99.98% satisfaction rate?
Plus, the PA who is their competition and make his statements, hey it is the competition do you really expect him to play nice with a company who has taken business away from him, who would like a company like that? I dislike my competition in the construction field because they took business away some times, it is a free country but it happens. Cannot believe a person who tells you he/she is the competition.
Try giving Larry Lowry a call. You may be pleasently surprised.
Pyramid
I foolishly answered an employment ad on Craigslist for this company. More importantly, I foolishly ponied up $40 for training materials, but once I realized I was not able to take the job and had not been trained, I could not get a refund of the money.
How do I know that Metro Public Adustment is a pyramid scheme? Three reasons and shame on me for not figuring all this out earlier. 1) They were completely uninterested in my past work history, my suitability for the job, my education, or any other criteria that legitimate employers look at. 2) My "recruiter", James Cash, revealed that he received points for each person that attended the training. 3) Mr. Cash promised to return the money after I asked him several times, but never did and never responded to a single phone message I left him or e-mail that I sent him asking him to follow up on his promise.
Additionally, Mr. Cash took several potshots at me in his e-mail in which he promised to return my money - un-called for and unproffessional.
Do NOT accept employment with Metro Public Adjusters - it is a a pyramid their recruiters/representatives are unpleasant and not people of their word.

It is the same compensation as Keller Williams reality actually, one of top 3 realtors nationwide.
Poor Service
Metro Public Adjustment was hired to repersent us for an insurance claim it took Metro over 7 months to get our claim settled and along the way they just kept taking more money from us to hire an independent and then an umpire to try and settle the dispute with the insurance co and during the entire process we were being reassured by the adjuster and the rep from Metro is that once we get to the umpire stage that they never loose and it would be in my best intrest to proceed to that step. Well we did proceed and still lost... During the entire 7 months Metro would not return any of my phone calls and when they did it was always I don't know whats doing on. In one occurance I spoke to the Metro Rep and she advised us that we were awarded everything that was in dispute and that we are in good shape, an hour later get a phone call from the adjuster and we are being told that they need to go to the next step because nothing was awarded. It was a prime example that the left hand had no clue what the right was doing. When I questioned the metro rep I was given the response "you could have handled it yourself and have gotten nothing". I am kicking myself everyday for going with this company and I will express to everyone reading this to second guess yourself before using metro public adjustment.

We signed a contract after our Hurricane Florence claim came back from our insurance company only to realize after we went back to read the fine print that Metro would keep 10% of the original claim we were offered by our insurance company even if Metro was unable to get it increased. BS. Thankfully we were able to get out before our 3 day free look was up.
You don't need a public adjuster. Find yourself a good honest contractor whom you want to work with. Public Adjusters will claim they get you more money but think about it, do you think the insurance company is going to pay more because you hired a public adjuster? The public adjuster will take a portion of your money and they you left with having to find a contractor who will work for less than the insurance company estimate.
Your insurance company will work with your contractor to reach an agreement. If you honestly are looking to just have your covered damages repaired and try and pocket a bunch of money and upgrade your stuff, you will be fine with your insurance company. If the insurance company did not pay enough to fix your house the insurance system would fail. If your trying to get a free roof when you really don't have a real loss, you will have problems no matter what.
You will have problems with your repairs if you hire a public adjuster, unless of course your not really doing any repairs, then go ahead and give away your money.
Public adjusters should be illegal. They show up at your door when you have had a fire and try and fill your head with BS so they can take part of your settlement.
Be careful and stay away from Public Adjusters.
So there's the accusation that those who support Metro work for them and those who do not support Metro are the insurance companies trying to get people NOT to use a PA because then they can pay 25-40% (as claimed above) for what they should be paying to US, the people who buy their insurance. Okay people, think about it, do your homework and remember that everyone on here is just a name behind a computer and no one has to be telling the truth. Then look at the insurance companies and tell yourself, do you trust them? Then, IF you decide to call a PA (whether Metro or ANY PA company) read the damn contract, SEE what you are going to get and see what you will be paying for. IF you don't like what the contract says, then go elsewhere or go head to head with the insurance company (I loved the comparison above that you will on trial and you are using the prosecutor as an attorney because that is exactly what it is when you trust the insurance companies to get you the best deal). Is Metro awesome? I don't know. I think they could have good and bad people working for them. But I KNOW for a fact that the insurance companies will not give you what you deserve. And no where, NO WHERE does any public adjuster claim to be a building inspector. They are trained to look for certain damage that is covered by insurance companies - that is all. And while some are just starting out and are not real experienced, they do have claims adjusters who do have a certain amount MORE experience. If you don't like paying them, then by all means don't use a PA. But FACT: Insurance companies WILL rip you off. So, get smart and learn what they have to pay for and learn what's wrong or right. Or hire a PA. Or get ripped off.
Donot not use Metro Public Adjuster every, I went to work for them. they told me the training is free but it was not free and they told me they will help me to start the business but they did not they told me go fine us clint. the must important you should know if you call them and do your claim. they will get 35% from your check. that mean if your floor cost $9000 they will get $3000 and you will be short to fix your floor or you have to get cheap. when i ask this question they did not have any answer.
Please donot use they just google and get some information what the insurance is cover and you can call your insurance and safe that 35%.
Do not sign anything from these people. Do not believe anything they say. If you signed, you have 3 business days till midnight to get out! Forgot about the salesman or your representative. They will disappear, and they will do everything to keep you in the contract. Promptly fax the main headquarters your notice of termination. On the fax, ask for a confirmation in return. Fax them an additional typed letter saying who you are, and that you want out on such and such date and sign it. The headquarters will reply in the mail saying your off the hook. If you are having trouble, contact your state attorney general immediately.
If the complaints above are true then they should be reported to the Dept of Insurance and Banking Commission not to a 'complaint message board'. All public adjusters have to be licensed and bonded with their State of residency and could possibly lose their license if the actions noted above actually occurred. Why are you "talking to the Hand"? I can only close with a thought someone once shared with me..."Do you want to be heard (then scream and yell), or do you want to be listened to"? Share your concerns with the person(s) who can actually help you.
The "positive reviews" written in here clearly are employees of Metro. I am 9 months into a claim that would have been resolved much quicker had I handled it myself.
My claim is smoke damage from a home that burned down to the ground next door. That home? 10 months later is completely rebuilt. My home? I'm still currently being told to "hold off doing repairs or I could hurt my claim" - not to mention money being held up. But Metro takes their "percentage" right up front. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO START YOUR PROJECT WITHOUT GIVING METRO A PERCENTAGE OF EACH AND EVER CHECK, which obviously limits your repairs (unless you have a stock pile of money to grab from).
DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING METRO ASKS! YOU WILL BE SORRY. If you're unsure? I will gladly give anyone my address and paperwork to drive by and SEE the sign I put on my lawn with an arrow to my damage "used Metro Public Adjusters" and an arrow pointing to the beautiful new home next door "did not use any public adjuster, simply did claim themselves".
I am so sorry I am using Metro. They suck. They have the worst customer service ever! When you call your point of contact you get an attitude like you are bothering them. I thought it was there job. on top of it they lie. I caught them in many lies... please do not use them...
totally disagree ! first of all, u don't waste Ur money, because u don't pay anything upfront.seconD its so obivious that the insurance company don't want to pay u money if u do it urself OR hire a public adjuster indivisual or METRO PA, so its a insurance company that u have loyally paying all the premiums all these years, don't paying u back for Ur damages to get repaired.and u, we all know this fact, and that is the reason PUBLIC ADJUSTER exist ! Legally Licensed and Bonded by State Goverment.
They took me to court because I refused to pay because this poor excuse of a company is incompetent. They did nothing and expected to get paid. I fought back and won half the money back. Their attorney is the biggest Piece so ### you will ever see. Fight back! You will at least win back some of your money.
