Hi, on 23rd june i called the tpy branch at 1.08pm to book an appointment for TWO but they booked me to the somerset branch since they are fully book. So at 5pm i called the tpy outlet to check if i can change my appointment to 5.30pm since im only at orchard otw down, they checked and ask me to go down asap since the closing time is 7pm. About 5 mins aft the call with tpy, somerset called to inform me that they only have ONE slot so either i take it or i came back another day, when i've alrdy reach 313 somerset!? THEY EXPECT ME TO BE FINE WITH IT AND JUZ GO HOME LIKE SERIOUSLY?! I'm totally fine if they inform me in advance, not when i'm alrdy at the place!I called to tpy to check what is going on and the lady on the line promise me to get back soon after which she never did. After waiting and walking from somerset to orchard and more waiting, i called back to tpy to complain about the service and the lady on the line juz laugh loudly for quite a few times which was very disrespectful ! With this type of attitude from your staff, I doubt i will ever dropby for any sort of treatment.

Lousy bookingsystem that does not allow people to book the timeslot
Example, Tampines oulet opens at 10 am. minimum must book 3 slots of half a hour each.
I saw the time slot available is 10am till 12 noon, so tried to book from 10.30 am to 12 noon (1/2 hour timeslit each), then it barred me from booking with message 'unable to book from 2nd period). if they do not want people to book from 10.30am and must book from 10 am, then why have the 4th timeslot at 11.30 opened for booking?
Frustrated with the service staff too. Everytime i use the service, always asking me to top up to another service. So are you tellinh me that the package i signed for is useless? might as well not sign for package. cant wait to complete the course and blackist this beauty centre.

I would like to caution all my fellow sisters of their cheating tactics. You all must always take note of the packages you have with them. Cos they will bluff you there is little left to trick you to buy.
When I went for a facial recently, they told me my facial balance was low and got me to buy, which I did. But when the customers statement was printed to me, it stated I have more than 40 facials?! Which means they tricked me into buying!
When I asked them about this but they ignored me totally.
I have since consulted my lawyer, who told me to lodge a police report as this amount to cheating. As I read all the threads here, I am also so angry that they have conned so many people as well! and for so many years! So, my fellow sisters, I appeal to all of you to do similar. Go to the police or CASE or Small Claims Tribunals and report about them!
We shouldn't let them off scot-free!

Today, the third times they missed my appointment. I adjusted my working schedule for the massage session due to their "peak" or always full appointment slots.
I rushed from Tampines to Raffles place to learn that my booking is not confirmed!
No one can answer me how they made appointment and how they made confirmation to customers . they manually marked my appointment date on papers, with no confirmation given. You have to try your luck if the session is reserved for you!

Since 2003 I have been a customer with them. The service is getting worse! Hard selling of facial packages and when you purchase the package, the next few sessions they would say the package doesn't suit you and then keep recommending other new facial package to try and hard sell. What blows me up today is they failed to contact me yesterday to remind me the appointment today. Then they called in the morning today and I said I cannot make it. Why didn't they call me yesterday? The usual practice is they called a day earlier to confirm the appt but they failed to contact me. So they are just going to count it as a session deducted. I told them unable to contact the customer successfully is a failed call, it should not be counted as one call made. Agood customer service should call later, after all they close late at night, they can always call again like what they have been doing. How can a failed call by the salon become a customer's fault and deduct one session. I will finish my package with them and say goodbye finally to them. What a way to treat a long term customer. So sad that they don't know how to value old time customers. Say NO to Modern Beauty Salon.
unethical sales tactic and service
I will advise everyone who read this - do not patronize with modern beauty salon. I have been their customer for many years and i have seen them going downhill after the management is changed to PRC. They have very unethical sale tactic and their service is extremely bad these days.

I have been with this beauty salon for a few years. My 2 sisters also with them and 3 of us are stuck with this salon. When we started signing package with them, they do provide us a satisfactory service. But after a year, you can see their standard of service dropping, especially you no more signing packages with them. Their hard sale is super irritating. Before signing the package, everything no problem, after signing you see problem lai liao...
Recently, we have this issue on booking appointment with this Ang Ko Kio branch. After each facial, the staff will ask when is our next booking? We had actually placed our booking on the same day when we have done our facial, but when it is near our appointment date, they will call and say branch will be closing, every staff need to go Somerset branch! Or will say not enough man power want us changed to another date but the issue is there isn't any slot available on the date we want, so ended up we have to wait for another new month and they will tell you this is not a confirmed appointment!
I have made my next appointment in April for May'16. 1 day before my appointment, I call and check my appointment timing and surprised me they said there isn't any appointment fixed for me and my sister. The staff said if they no call us means no appointment! WTH! What if i didn't call and check and i just appeared in the salon and come tell me no arrangement for me? They don't even bother to inform customer that there isn't any available slot on the date we want. They just replied.. no call you means no arrangement. What kind of service is this?!?! Sometimes they also didn't call me to remind me.
After few arguments, managed to fix another date in June'16. The staff told me will definitely give me a slot on the date I have requested. Guess what? I was informed branch closed again, all staff need to go Somerset branch again! WTF!
I am very furious and has requested to transfer to Kovan branch since it is nearer to my house. The manager (Liu Long) told me I need to call Customer Service myself for transferring! This isn't their job? We are consumer, we still need to do their jon? When want sell us package they can be super nice and sweet to you but after you have signed up their package it is totally different attitude. The manager said this is not her job, we bought package from her the money also not go into her pocket! WHOA!
Actually, all this years me and my sisters always had this unhappiness issue with them. You can google their comments and are from bad to worst. Even their Customer Service also the same. They can just hang up your call before you.
Ladies wanna step into Modern Beauty Salon, be sanctuary spa and Giman Beauty and Wellness.. BETTER think it again, again and again. Good luck to you if you decided to sign up any package with them.
What we want now is, we will just keep going frequently to finish up our package and say goodbye to them forever.

I am in disbelieve with Modern Beauty for their unprofessional ways of doing business. I have decided to refund all my monies through consumer tribunal because they wouldn't refund the monies to me (I have sent them a formal letter etc)
I have many unhappy incidents with Modern beauty and I can list them all here! I hope this article will bring more awareness to the public too!
I bought my first 10 session package in year 2012. At first i thought want to finish my package and stop going to modern beauty after that but i realise i will not able to finish my package with them because they will not "give up" on you if they realise your package is getting lesser. So In the end I have bought many more package from them.. It's so unbearable that i finally decided that I had enough this year.
1) I booked appointment 2 months in advance and was last minute canceled for no solid reason (many times already!)
2) Poor skills, painful extraction of blackheads and pimples causing redness / wound of skin for weeks (and there are 2 became dark spot scars now) I seldom encounter such incidents when I go to other salons such as herbaline etc.
3) I was doing facial halfway lying down, the sales person keep hard sales other products and ask me top up money to add on treatment. When I refuse, they wouldnt give up. usually 2 ppl will gang up to do talking. then i finally gave in to try the new treatment, the consultant tell me i have to pay the money first for them to do treatment on me. FYI i was lying down already doing my facial, so i tell them to forget about it . Magically, the consultant tells me that they manage to convince their "boss" to let me do facial first and pay after my facial. What the hell?! Dont make any sense to me at all.
4) I bought facial package with some add on on the treatment. when i make booking on the phone, I told them specifically i want to do facial + treatment. But when i go to do facial, the consultants will tell me that the time only enough for facial without treatment. (this happens few times already..)
5) there is no standard of facial pricing and all facial only sells in package of mininum 10 times with condition to finish all of them within one year (if time has lapse, u need to purchase something from their salon in order to retrieve the remaining faical u have bought! This sounds like a daylight robbery to me because i have paid money in full and in advance but still need to follow conditions like this?! they will only tell you after u have sign your credit card)
Been with them for about a year plus, my mum has been a customer with them for YEARS now.
At the start they'd allow her to bring me & my sis along to use her package. During that 1-2 times, I'd always here them pestering my mum to buy package during our facial. Which was already a super turn-off.
When I was older, I visited other salons with my own money and they were all so much better. However, they managed to psycho my mum to get an additional package for me (probably using the discounts tactic). So my mum got me a 10-sessions package for my birthday. While I appreciate it very much, I'd much rather she use that money for better things.
So ever since then, I'd have my facial appts with my mum, and almost all the time, I'd witness the hard-selling. Until recently they have stopped doing that and I thought it was getting better. NEVER HAVE I BEEN MORE WRONG.
While the hard-selling went down, their facial skills went down together. Blackheads (and mind you it's a whole scattering of it across my nose) were not removed, pimples that were not even ripe were squeezed, leaving holes, beautician was extremely rough with my face whereby I would have 2-3 of my eyelash extensions fall off, and to top it all off, I'd breakout right after the facial. It wasn't until I did another background check on them to realise that most of their staff have actually resigned, which probably explains why the skills have deteriorated (using junior staff instead) and the hard -selling have gone down.

I am a customer at one of the Modern Beauty outlet in Uptown, Damansara Utama since late 2013, reason being it was very close to my home and I could easily swing by for my appointments over the weekend, at the convenience of ample car park as Damansara Uptown is forever congested during weekdays. In July 2015, the sales person had introduced me to an attractive beauty package with great deal. Considering that my package was ending pretty soon, I had signed up for it and it was worth RM10, 000 via 12 months installment which comes with 80 sessions of facial or massage (RM125 per session so why not right?). In September 2015, I received a phone call from Modern Beauty that the outlet in Uptown was closed down and i will have to be transferred to another outlet in MidValley. It was very disappointing that the change in location was not brought up to my attention at the point that I sign up for the package in July. When I visited the outlet in Uptown on the same day that I received the call, to my surprise, the outlet was almost cleared and being touched up nicely. This cannot be a work that was done within a short period and I am pretty sure that the employees were well informed of the transfer way ahead. Nevertheless, I have informed the staff that it will be not possible for me to continuously follow up with my facial session in MidValley due to the location and my tight working schedule that requires me to travel outstation quite often. I specifically told them that it can be well proven through my record during my period with them since year 2013. Despite Damansara Uptown was very near to my house, i had to make time to come for the facial session. It was already a challenge for me to make it to Damansara Uptown and now that I will need to travel to Midvalley, i doubt that i will be able to utilise it. As much as I would love to continue coming to the beauty salon, I really was not able to make it to MidValley due to the inconvenience in location. Due to the above reasons, I have requested to terminate the RM10, 000 package that I have just signed up two months ago. This message was being conveyed to your staff and i was promised to receive an update on the procedure to terminating the package in the following week. I waited for three weeks and there was not a single follow up calls on this matter. When i finally managed to reach out to the company again, i was then told that there was no such thing as a refund policy and I will have to be forced to purchase their product. HELLO, it's RM10, 000 and how on earth that I will be able to purchase so much of your products?!?!?! It is totally unfair to us as a consumer when fault was not at our end. The staff literally kept silent on the closing down of the outlet upon the sales of package. I totally agree with another complaint on this board (on Modern Beauty) that the staffs are really "hungry" over sales. Once you have signed up anything with them, you are being neglected. Literally. To date, 2 months had passed and I have yet to hear anything from their management. It was very disappointing that they have such terrible service. I am writing this here to bring awareness to consumers who are keen to sign up for any package with Modern Beauty, do take note on the implications subsequently.
Oh ya! Not forgetting that they continued to charge the monthly installment payment to my credit card without coming back to me on the termination request. WELL DONE modern beauty for digging up your customer's money, in such an unethical manner!
I'm another victim of Modern Beauty. I signed up package since 2008, & since then they keep pushing for more new packages while u r still lying down having your facial done. Once my face was fully covered with mask & I could not respond, the beautician walked away muttering that I m being rude!
Till today I still have packages with them. I tried calling them in June 2020 to check what will happen o my packages with the MCO as I was earlier told mine would expire in Aug 2020. The lady on the other line was so rude, tod me don't know & bang down the phone.
I thought facial salons would hv been allowed to open by 1 July 2020, so I hv been trying to call them last 3 days but no one is picking up the calls! Are they closed for good, without informing customers, like they did when they wrapped up their branch in Damansara Uptown? Anybody knows?
I ask one of the victim here. Before sign package pretty story, after signed the packages another service n treatment. Beautician always ask you to buy new facial and told me my current facial is too old.
Yesterday did my facial complex, the electric tool really shocked on me and I complained too pain. And she just skip this process and apply facial mask only then done on whole process. I ask her why can’t use hand to replace the tool. And she said we can’t do other way and we only can follow the facial type u purchased. Beauticians still want to push me to buy the new facial and tell me other machine more kind and won’t get me pain. Sigh
me too I'm customer of modern beauty midvally...last time manager told me package with no expiry, on november 2018 force me sign the 6 mths extend if I not upgrade old package
now my package left 20 times and expire on 19/5/19, but manager Gigi and Vicky don't allow I make advance appointment from January, feb, March, April, may, every Monday 5pm

by month end, month end say no slot! ..she say appoitment only reserve for customer come once a month, they all choose customer to make appointment! one month come 3 times cant !

I am another victim, i also asked to purchase new treatment in july Without telling about their plan to close the Damansara Utama salon. There is no calls from the salon to inform on their closure until i dropped by the salon after several phone calls in no avail.
I am helpless and asked to write to their customer service email but no representative from the company care to reply or call me to discuss on the matter. I have few thousands balance of treatments to claim from them...
You go lodge a claim to get back the unused portion of RM10, 000 via consumer tribunal. Pretty easy, cheap and efficient.

I have subscribed a package in Modern Beauty Salon in Mid Valley in Dec 2014. I was trying to call for appointment few times, yet none of the appointment be made successfully. I was really frustrated and upset with this service. Everytime I want to make appointment I heard the excuse of "full appointment" "massage therapist not available" "message therapist off on that day". Is this the way of giving service to customers? Customers pay the beauty salon to get the service but it always have no massage therapist available? I really hope the company look into this matters. With this kind of service, none of the customers would continue to subscribe the service with it. Opportunities are only deserved for those are ready to give customers the better service. It has been 8 months after my package subscription, but I don't get the service ONCE! When i used up my trial voucher in the branch, I saw there are sufficiency of rooms, also have a number of therapist hanged out around. I thought this would give me the time flexibility to make the appointment to pamper myself once awhile. I was trying to make appointment on any Saturday before evening session, but I didn't get it even I called the branch one month before that. The one who was talking on phone with me, was asking me to go on weekday. Well i take the advice. Since I am going to have off day on 8th Oct, I called to make appointment. Unfortunately, I was informed that no available therapist until 6pm. Does that mean the company actually is the customer, I am the one providing service? Why do I need to call so many times to get disappointment of no available slot for me while I need to pay for service and phone bill?! If the company is really doing so well, could the company plan to get more qualified therapist to serve the customers or get a website so that the customers could make a reservation through website whenever the customers notice that there is available slot for them? I feel the suggestion of website would be more sufficient than i call to the branch from time to time and get disappointment again and again. Seriously this is the worst service I got ever! Appreciate it so much if any action is taken to solve this.
massage package
In 2011 I purchased a Massage Package of 10 session & was given 4 sessions free, I managed to use about 4 sessions in their Ang Mo Kio branch, however, the branch, due to some management issue or internal problem, cannot carry out any more massage sessions, and I was advised to go to other branches which can do massage. I went to Somerset branch once, and that's the last time I'm going back there, the masseur assigned was a PRC and very strong with her hands, I was bruise all over the next day, when she was massaging me, I told her her strength is too much, and she told me, pain is effective!
After which, I tried calling Ang Mo Kio branch and ask when can they do massage again, but was told still cannot. I totally forgotten about this, and in Nov 2013 I had a new baby, today, 22 Dec 2014., I received a call from their call centre, asking me when I am going to use my package of 9 sessions, as they have actually expired and Modern Beauty Salon is extending a few months. I told the lady, I have a 1 year old, how can I leave her at home, and go for massage?
I asked her if her management can extend it further or refund me, she asked and told me not refund allowed, she kept asking me to leave my baby with my husband and go for massage, or transfer to my mother or someone else to use, and when I asked her to help me ask her management to call me about extending the deadline, she hung up my phone!
For the few years after I bought the package, it was due to the company that they cannot provide the massage service (I bought at GIMAN Beauty at Ang Mo Kio), and not my fault for not using the sessions, and now they are forcing me to quickly use my package, when I already explain I cannot do it in the next few months( My baby not one to take care).

As I knew that I will be out station for many years, and will not use the package bought.
