After entering an online competition by my son, he received a call that he did not win, but could join their membership at a lower fee.
He was attending to another matter at that point and did not really take note of what the call center agent was saying. They tried to take debits for r499& r200 that he did not authorize, after which he received a call today to force him to make payment and pay a cancellation fee totaling to almost r1200. When I tried to take over the conversation as a parent, I was told that they cannot talk to me because of the popi act. They entered into a contract with him, an unemployed student, and I was told it was none of their concern!
Asking for a copy of the recordings, we were sent the banking details to pay r250 in order to get a copy.
Being spoken to in a manner that I am not use to as a professional myself, I ended up loosing my cool, after which I was threatened with legal action for verbal abuse.
Still not answering any questions relating to registration numbers of the company, the compliance office ect.
