REMOVALISTS TO AVOID:
Aliases used; Discountbackloading, MardiGras Furniture Removals, Moving Professionals, Surfers Paradise Removals, Mr Moving Man & All Australian Moving Company
BEWARE! DON'T FALL FOR THEIR TRICKS! Based on numerous bad web reviews of the MOVING PROFESSIONALS I specifically AVOIDED using this company for my recent move from Sydney to Melbourne. Instead I booked with via www.discountbackloading.com.au. To my dismay, once DISCOUNTBACKLOADING had my money (you have to pay their moving fee in full, in advance) they informed me that they contract their work out to MOVING PROFESSIONALS. OMG! I was stuck with the very company I was trying to avoid! They had tricked me by using another trading name, they had my money, would not refund it and I had no choice but to go with them. My experience was absolutely appalling. They are the rudest, most unhelpful and unprofessional company I have EVER encountered. Once they have your money, they couldn't care less about you or your belongings. They arrived 6 hours late on pick up day, meaning I missed my interstate connection and had to spend the night on my landlords’ couch. They never returned my numerous calls enquiring about when the overdue truck was going to arrive. I informed them via both email and phone several weeks prior to pick up that a large truck would not be able to access my home (I lived up a narrow, one way lane), and that a small van would be required. Despite being informed that a small vehicle would undertake my move, on pick up day a large semi with a shipping container arrived. It had to park several blocks away, and the removal men stated that head office never informed them of the access issue to my property. My belongings were jammed into a shipping container, together with other customers’ belongings, and were subsequently transported via train from Sydney to Melbourne. Numerous items arrived with scrapes, chips and dents, presumably from being thrown around in the shipping container whist being transferred from truck to train and back onto a truck again. My shipment took 14 days to get from Sydney to Melbourne. In spite of promising they would call in advance to confirm a delivery date/time in Melbourne, the delivery guys arrived unannounced on my doorstep when I wasn't home, and fortunately a neighbour noticed their truck in my driveway and called me! When I rang up to complain, an unpleasant and nasty ‘piece of work’ called Kelly informed me she wasn’t interested in listening to me, told me to have a nice day, then promptly hung up on me! Nice work Kelly! So - if you're happy to go 2 weeks without your bed, fridge, tv, clothes etc., want your belongings damaged and enjoy rude, unhelpful and unreliable service - then this is the company for you! Don’t believe a word when they tell you your goods will arrive in 3-5 days. Mine took 14 days to get from Sydney to Melbourne (Yes, that’s TWO WEEKS!), and they didn't even have the courtesy to return my numerous calls/emails when I tried to find out what was happening with my belongings. These people use a number of aliases including; Discountbackloading, MardiGras Furniture Removals, Moving Professionals, Surfers Paradise Removals, Mr Moving Man & All Australian Moving Company. No prizes for guessing why they need to use so many different names. If you are contemplating using any of the aforementioned companies - you have been warned! I will never, ever, EVER use a discount removalist again. In hindsight I would gladly have paid an extra $1000 to use a reliable carrier and avoid the stress, inconvenience, rudeness and damage caused by dodgy operators! Lesson learnt!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
As a result of lack of care, lack of competence, unprofessionalism and negligence, my total losses and damages caused by Moving Professionals (AUST) Pty Limited are estimated over $4, 000.
Please read my story below and stay away from Moving Professionals.
1. Failure to pick up on time
My move was booked on Saturday. Everything was arranged with Richard (sales person) in advance and he promised that drivers come on Saturday to pick up my goods.
On Saturday drivers arrived, they saw all my goods and told me that their van/truck is not big enough to pick up my goods and I have to wait until Sunday for other drivers to arrive with a bigger truck.
My final inventory list was provided to Moving Professionals 1 week before the pick up date. So, I find this absolutely ridiculous that they sent a driver with a small van/truck.
I tried to call your office on Saturday but no one was there.
Finally, one day later other drivers arrived and pick up my goods.
I hope that you would agree that 1 day delay is totally not acceptable for interstate removals from a customer point of view. When people move interstate, there is much move involved than just moving furniture and other goods.
It is absolutely obvious that it was their fault which caused a lot of troubles to us.
The resulting 1 day delay caused us a lot of stress and significant losses of money. See details below:
We had our flights booked on Saturday. We could not fly on Saturday and our airfares were forfeited. So, we had to purchase new air tickets.
Because we arrive 1 day later to our destination, we had to pay 1 day extra for parking at the airport.
On Saturday we supposed to vacate the rented property and return the keys to real-estate agent. We could not move out on Saturday and we had to pay rent for couple extra days.
I provided my final inventory list to Moving Professionals in advance and there were not extra items when drivers arrived. It was fully Moving Professionals responsibility to estimate how much space my items would take and how big truck you need based on my inventory list. If they did miscalculations, then it is solely their responsibility and not mine.
2. Goods Damage
Due lack of care and lack of competence of Moving Professionals removalists every single bulky items have been damaged. These include a fridge and all furniture.
As far as I know, the law requires removalists to carry out services with due care and skill. However, this was not the case.
I only witnessed lack of care, lack of skills, lack of competence, and negligence.
Furthermore, the removalists who arrived on Sunday were absolutely unprofessional and physically unfit to do their work. They sent some dodgy contractors to pick up my goods. There were a skinny guy, his wife, two skinny 13 years old sons and a baby (!). It would be absolutely ridiculous to call those people professional removalists.
Most work was performed by skinny 13 years old kids who were not fit enough to move heavy bulky items.
No protections blankets were used to wrap my items which could prevent most of damages. This is absolutely unacceptable for such items like furniture and fridge.
While moving bulky items, the removalists scratched most of them against walls, handrails and doorways. The removalists dropped several items on a concrete floor, dragged some items across asphalt driveway.
The following furniture has been damaged:
1. dining table,
2. queen size bed
3. TV table
4. coffee table
5. chair
6. drawer / bedside table
7. office desk
8. office chair
Fridge has also been damaged and I have contacted several companies that provide fridge repair services and all of them told me that it is economically unreasonable to repair the damages. I was told that it would be cheaper to buy a new fridge than fix the damages
3. Property Damage
When my goods have been delivered to the final destination, once again I witnessed lack of care, lack of competence, and negligence.
No protections blankets were used to wrap my items which could prevent most of damages. No care has been taken when moving my goods to the property. The removalists also dragged some heavy items across polished floor, several times hit a wall and doorway.
As a result of lack of care and negligence, a doorway, wall and floor have been damaged in a newly renovated property which was in immaculate condition.
4. Conclusion
Total losses and damages caused by Moving Professionals are estimated over $4, 000.
On December the third 2012 this same company, Discount Backloaders aka Mardi Gras Removals picked up our items from Hadspen Tasmania. They sent two old trucks to pick up things up using Moran Furniture Removals who were hardly professional.
They claimed the big truck our things were meant to go into was stuck on the mainland and this is why they used Moran''s.
We had a number of things broken. Boxes that were proper packing boxes broken and open.
My portable Electrolux Air Con is totally cracked and unusable. $1000 dollars gone there. Not to mention the other littler items.
Our 55 inch Sony Bravia Tv (new) is gone. That's 5 thousand. My backwards Playstation 3 which is extremely rare is also gone. A brand new PS3 that we also had is gone. Plus our brand new blu ray DVD player also gone.
I am so angry beyond words that this stuff we worked hard for is all gone. I cannot claim for it with NRMA as I let these bloody monkeys that I should have been able to trust take and ruin and steal my stuff.
This company can hide behind it's policy of no responsibility all it likes but we good people trusted you with our precious things. They are NOT yours to ruin and take, bugger it !
The police are involved and they have also said call Fair Trading about this shonky lot of tools.
Apparently we are meant to sign a contract too but none was offered. That is not legal !
I will make sure this lot get bad mouthed so no other poor person gets ripped off like us.
We and all the others burnt by this lot can NOT let them win.
Cheers
Laura
