MVQ Shop Essentials review: Buyer beware 1

I have had 3 charges of $19.95 applied to my bank account over the last few months. We noticed it for the first time in January '10 but monies had been taken in Nov and Dec 09 also.

I have found that this money was taken when I signed up online with Restaurants.com, I have spoken to them today and they are no longer dealing with MVQ shopsplus due to the high volume of complaints. I was informed that I had checked a box when I made a purchase allowing Restaurants.com to pass on my details to a 3rd party to save additional money. This is a complete fabrication, I would never allow my credit card to be passed onto an unknown 3rd party, to take money from my account for products or services without my so say. I advised them of this and they gave me a contact number for Shopping Essentials ( Shops Plus alter ego !).

I dialled [protected], the number asks for your membership number - hello I havent got one, I never joined your membership. I just pressed the pound key a couple of times and got through. I spoke with a very nice lady who said they would give me the last payment deducted from account in January back, I said I wanted all 3 as I had never authorized my card details to be given to them and this was fraud. She passed me to her manager who said no problem, we will refund in 2-3 days. There was no arguement which shows me this is a scam and they just give you money back straight away so you dont take it any further.I have given their deatils to my bank though to investigate how this is happening so frequently. Its time the banks earnt back our repects too !

It looks from other posts that the money is returned straight away which is a positive but its very concerning to see that reputable companies ie Target, Vistaprint and others are passing along our details so readily. I know for one that I would never have checked a box that said give the whole world my credit crad number so they can take money from my account at will !.

Shoppers please be aware in future of what info you check when shopping online, and please check previous bank statements to make sure you havent been scammed by this company. It will appear as MVQ Shoppesplus on your statement, based out of CT.
