Sounds like MyCleanPC pulled a fast one — advertising as free, only for you to end up with a charge. No mention of a monthly fee? That’s definitely sketchy. Hopefully, they take care of your refund quickly, or it looks like the BBB might be hearing from you soon!

MyCleanPC Unauthorized Credit Card Charge after cancellation and poor support.

MyCleanPC charged me $19.95 after I had cancelled. I cancelled because their service was very bad. Their online person (Tech?) rumbled through my computer and placed many emails and other documents into a vault. They told me these documents were unsafe. I tried to extract these documents from the vault but could not. I called back and even their 'person' (Tech?) couldn't help me. That person told me I had to PAY-MORE to talk to someone to extract the documents from my 'vault'. I paid more, but even the Tech(?) I paid more couldn't extract the documents from the vault. Thanks to MyCleanPC I lost a lot of very important documents.

Desired outcome: Refund all previous charges. $202.78 and the recent $19.95 that I did not approve.

MyCleanPC Canceled but was charged anyway

i canceled this program shortly after downloading it. Spoke to a rep asked him to cancel so i wont get charged, towards the end of the call he mentioned that he was going to add 60 days, without a mention of renewal or anything. So be very careful, DO NOT take anything these guys give you. Anything they "give" is a way of conning you. Can't be trusted.

Desired outcome: refund my sub

MyCleanPC Disk cleanup did not work at all. All it did was bombard me with popups.

On May 11, 2023, I signed up for a free trial version of MyCleanPC. The only difference I noticed was that I started receiving popups, which interrupted whatever I was doing at the time. I was inundated with the ads and came to the decision to cancel the service well before my free trial month was over. they reassured me that the cancellation would go through, and the annoying popups would stop. I continue to receive the popups several times a day, and noticed on my last bank statement that I had been charged $19.95 for membership. I have tried every way I can think of to delete the program, but the annoying ads keep coming.

Desired outcome: I would like a refund of the $19.95 i was charged for something i never received. Most of all, I would like the ads to stop!!

MyCleanPC unauthorized credit card charges

I signed up for a FREE month's trial period. Before the trial period ended, I called and canceled...i couldn't tolerate all their popup ads interrupting. The tech I talked to said it would be cancelled. BUT, on my next bank statement was charged $19.95! I called again and asked for a refund, and for all the popups to stop. The tech said he would take care of it. Fifteen minutes later, here come all the popups. I called again and was assured this time they would make sure to stop all the popups and to refund my account.

Which brings us to today when i called them for the 4th and 5th times. On the 4th call, all I could hear was loud voices in the background. The tech said they were having a 25th anniversary party there so i waited and called again. I was put on a long hold and then was told they had no information about me. I have given up!

Desired outcome: I would like a refund of $19.95....since i never used their service. AND, i'd appreciate it more than i can say if the popups stop!

MyCleanPC Bundled a service and started charging monthly without notification

I ordered the mycleanpc product two years ago. I let the subscription lapse. After a few days, I started to get pop ups EVERY day.

To just move on, I renewed the service. I got an activation code, put it in and moved on.

Somewhere in the process, they claimed I bundled LiveTech support. I started seeing charges of $19.95 a month. I saw the charge pending and immediately went to the company to get it off. They claimed I knew all about it (I didn't), that they email me about the renewal (nothing about LiveTech - I checked) and refused to remove the charge.

Just wrong. Deceptive and wrong.

Desired outcome: Remove the charges for LiveTech. It isn't what I paid for, never needed it, and never wanted it.

MyCleanPC MyCleanPC

MyCleanPC uses unethical marketing tactics. It advertises a program that is supposed to "clean" computers for $19.95/year. That sounds reasonable, but fine print on the order page, on a grey background says that afterh paying the $19.95, the buyer will be billed monthly for 24/7 live support, unless the buyer cancels.

All the large print and medium print only refer to the $19.95/year cleaning program. The fine print is hidden where most consumers won't notice it. The necessity to "cancel" something one did not order seems counter-intuitive at best and downright dishonest at worst.

I tried to get my money returned, and though I had never once used their 24/7 live support (if it exists) and this would have been easy for the company to check, they refused to return the money they charged my credit card for services I did not receive.

Because the ordering page actually mentions the monthly charge, even though in fine print on a gray background, their tactic is probably legal, if barely so. The company appears to be defrauding customers by design at the rate of $19.95/month. Most people are probably chagrined at themselves for not reading the fine print when they notice the unauthorized charges and they chalk it up to experience. I had not paid attention for a number of months before noticing the charges, and the total amount was significant. But the company basically says "Too bad for you. We got your money, and we aren't giving it back even though you received nothing for it.

Computer experts advise that "Temporary files are not slowing down your computer, and neither are browser history entries or cookies. Registry entries are generally not a problem — there’s a reason Microsoft once created a registry cleaner of their own before discontinuing it and advising people not to use registry cleaners." In other words, even the $19.95/year program (if it works) doesn't do anything useful. If your computer is running slow, run a disk fragmenter instead. The took is included with Windows.

MyCleanPC is a scam offering unneeded services and charging for undelivered services.

MyCleanPC is a version of CyberDefender that also sells as DoubleMySpeed.com and MaxMySpeed.com. All these programs are scams advertising unrealistic results and actually installing software that slows down computers. The "errors" they find on a free scan are also found on brand new clean computers, as testified by qualified tech experts. In other words, these are not genuine errors. The programs will not make your computer run faster, but they will take your money.

Don't believe the 5-star reviews. In all likelihood they are "reviews" paid for by the company and are actually used to advertise their products.

Desired outcome: Money back on charges for services not rendered.

MyCleanPC horrible customer service

My wife just got a call from USTechSupport. Seems, instead of calling me, they called my wife to tell on me. According to them, there were horrible notes concerning my treatment of their support technicians. Funny, nothing was said or no apology made for the five hours they gave me the run around telling me they were going to call me back and didn't. Nothing was mentioned about how they incorrectly labeled my ticket so I wasn't going to be helped. Nothing was said about their support technician laughing, disrespecting, and attempting to demean me. Nothing was said about how much of a coincidence it was for my computer to stop working five days after their live technician fixed my computer. It wasn't used in those five days other then for maybe an hour and a half and the startup took forever. They just called up to tell on me. Luckily this is Texas and I gave myself permission to record every call I made to them and was made from them.

MyCleanPC Failed To Make Repairs As Promised

In February 2013 they attempted 4 times to repair my wife’s computer by remote access. Each time they had control of her computer it appeared that it was fixed. However, the problems resurfaced each time the computer was rebooted. Later they claimed that the hard drive was causing the problems. I took the computer to a local computer service which made the repairs that U.S. Tech Support could not accomplish. The items they corrected were software related, simple repairs, that took only a few hours to diagnose and correct. I feel strongly that they misrepresented their ability to correct the problems by remote access and requested a full refund of the charges. They refused stating that the technicians had to be paid even if they failed. I expect to pay my doctors if they try to cure my illness and fail, but not a computer technician.

I been using this company for the last year or so.You would think they would get tired of me calling them all the time to fix my Pc Issues on a old pc lol. When ever I call them they always seem to get my problem resolved the first time .Of course their was a couple times I had to call them back but the problem was resolved then.My last call [protected] was fix by Mario tech 0135.A shout out to him because my Pc is running so much faster now.And he made a Comment that I need more ram which I will get to speed things up even more. Thanks Mario Tech 0135 for the fine repair job. I also considered this before I had USA tech support I would half to carry my Pc into the local repair shop and be with out it for several weeks. Then when I did get it back the bill was always over 100 compared to 19.95 I pay to USA tech support each month what a deal

I am glad I read your complaint. I, as well as you have been trying to get a refund because at this point I can't even use my computer. Before they even tried to clean my computer I was able to use it . It was just a hassle because it would freeze up on me randomly. I had the great idea to give US Tech a try, and yes they did try but it did not fix the problem, now I can't even get it to come up without freezing and I have to turn it off manually and start it up again. Just to have it freeze again. I am very disappointed and I thought there was a stamp that said "Guaranteed!".

MyCleanPC For $40 their software does nothing

Waste of money. For $40 their software does nothing. In order to activate the software you have to call them and they offer to send you to a "technician" for $199 additional and $14.95 a month for continued service. I ran the scan, paid the $40, refused the technician. Then clicked on fix problems when the software was activated. Took about 50 minutes to do what ever it did. As a test I let it restart the computer, I didn't start any other programs. Let it finish what ever it was doing. Then I said, well if it cleaned my PC I should run the scan again and get 0 errors. Ran the scan and in 2 seconds it found 222 problems. Shut off the program. Obviously it doesn't "clean my pc" it just installs some useless software so they can get you to call them so they can try to sell you a $200 technician. Sorry, there are free programs that scan your computer and even some free ones that will remove spyware etc. This is a scam.

MyCleanPC I fell for this stupid gimmick

I fell for this stupid gimmick. I am not the most computer literate person in the world, and they had me thinking that my computer was totally screwed up. They talked me into getting the 1 year plan for 250 bucks. Making it sound like it was the best option ever. They were all Americans, and kept telling me things to keep thinking that, like talking about living in LA and the Lakers. If they were real Americans is anyone's guess. Anyway, I let the tech guy do his thing on my computer, I told him what was wrong with it so he could zero in on these issues. He called my phone about 2 hours later to tell me he was finished. It's Easter Sunday, and I was heading to the 'rents house for dinner. I came home, and it sucks I had to get so angry with the deepest pits of hell, and turn into Satan on the holiest day of the year. My computer was F'D up! It would not stop writing in CAPITAL letters! No matter what I did, it wouldn't stop. That was my biggest issue, not to mention how ridiculously slow it was running! I'm talking about 3 times slower then it was before, and before it was so ridiculous that I fell for the stupid scam that is mycleanpc.com. I called them, and seeing that it says 100% satisfaction guarantee, that it would be a snap to get my money back. Let me tell you how completely rude they get when you ask for a refund. Some chick named "Asia" was seriously the rudest customer service person I have ever spoke with. She talked to me like she didn't give a crap about her job, and being fired for talking to someone like how she did was not scary to her at all. She tells me that they can only refund 70 bucks out of the 280 I gave them (250 for year of tech support, 30 for the scam that they pull you in with). I flipped out. Let's say that F bombs and calling her a female dog was in my vocabulary, but hey, she was asking for it after all! She told me the only way to get a full refund is to let a "level 3" tech go on my computer and fix the problem. I refused! I said, "Why would I let another guy from your company get on my computer, when the first guy totally screwed it up worse!" As I am typing this, my computer is acting funny, like they are hacked in right now reading what I'm typing, not even kidding. The box I'm typing in writing this review keeps moving up and down, and I am not doing that. Anyway, I am just going to call Bank of America in the morning, and hopefully I can cancel those payments. If that doesn't work, does anyone out there have any advice what to do? Should I let them go back on to "correct" the problem? I really don't want to do that! HELP ME!

hello turintoss,
i can totally understand how you are feeling right now and sympathize with your situation. See, sometimes things go wrong even with the easiest of the tech issues. And i can say that because i, for one, am a technician with a leading computer company myself. All i can advise you here is that, if in case you do not want to contact the company in question, mycleanpc.com, there is really no need. all you can do is get in touch with your computer manufacturer (Dell or HP or Lennovo or whosoever it is), and ask them to do a system image restoration or a clean windows installation for you. Mind you, this will cause you to lose any data that is saved on the computer, like pictures, videos, music, software etc. but you can request them to back it up for you beforehand. Also, if in case you are using windows vista or windows 7, you can tell them that the data is important and you need to do a custom install thereby saving the data onto the computer. i can help you more about this if i know the exact nature of the problem, and the exact make and model and specifications of your computer. Looking forward to helping you.
Regards

MyCleanPC Stay away from these guys

Decided to check out mycleanpc.com after viewing a TV ad. The site advertised the service at $49, so I decided to pass. As I was closing the window, the site offered me a special of $20, which I accepted. A software utility was downloaded to my PC and I received a message that I had to call an 800 number to have the software activated.

The 800 number turned out to be a "support technician" who remoted into my PC, ran a CyberDefencer scorecard program, then proceeded to tell me that my computer was in desperate need of cleaning and tuning up by a professional technician and assured me that the only reasonable course of action would be to purchase their $389.97/2 yr service contract for remote support.

I decided to pass, refused to activate their registry cleaner software, then spent the next hour on the phone trying to cancel my subscription. While cancelling, the customer service rep tried several times to refuse to cancel me, stating that it was "too soon" and imploring me to just try the software for another week.

Finally convincer her to cancel me and got a confirmation #... no clue if she actually did cancel my purchase.

Stay away from these guys.

MyCleanPC Rip off

My experience with working with Cyberdefender was pleasant only in the sense of the technical support, in fact the techs there are awesome and many are skilled at what they do. I just can’t say the same for all departments. Trust me; I’m far for being a bitter terminated employee. I wouldn’t want to be part of a company that conducts their business in this manner in the first place.

What I found disappointing was the tactics they instruct their salesmen/saleswomen to take when pitching. I say this because I find it unusual that a new sales person will come up with some of the unrealistic things I came across, and if a company knows they will be servicing computer illiterate people they can use it to their advantage. Their tools included a “scorecard” that rates the customer system on a scale. They exaggerate infections in order to hammer the customer into thinking their identity, credit card; bank information is compromised or will be. Using the event viewer that has errors that are over nine months old and telling the customer their system is going to crash any minute. I have gotten many systems that were labeled, “malware infection, severely infected” followed by the sale details when in fact, after the work I have done is complete, not one infection was found on their system. When calling to customer to follow up, they become puzzled when I tell them, “I’m calling to let you know I have completed my work, your system was free from infections.” Then they question me and ask me if I’m sure I cleaned the system properly because they were told it was infected with rogues, rogues and more rogues. Then ask why they have just spent $140-$500 on something they did not need. I know the answer to that but I refer them to call the customer service and ask for billing to further assist them. You are a gold mine if you have a home business and you’re calling in about your computer that you do business on. Not to make this longer than what it needs to be, ill elaborate and make this next example short.
A customer called in one day saying he had system issues; He was eventually transferred to sales. The free diagnostics and score card was ran on his system, the typical “possible malware” (the possible malware” indicator is a joke.) popped on the screen. This sent the salesmen into frenzy, the sales then pitched that his system was in grave danger, his system was compromised, his information was compromised and it needed to be worked on immediately. By then the customer was in a panic and did not want his system to be compromised, after all, he ran his business from that very same system. He agreed to pay the service fee. The sale was made and the system was transferred to a que for the next available technician to be work on. Due to the incompetence of management and sales, they forget that people like to watch most work being done. Needless to say this was one of those cases. A tech worked on the system, the customer was watching from his end of the system and seeing that all the scans was coming up clean. Eventually the technician was finish working on the system. Just then the customer spoke to the tech telling him he did not remove any infections, and he wondered why. The tech told him there was nothing to remove. The Customer got angry because he just paid a large sum of money due to the doomsday picture painted by the sales. The tech, put in a situation that he has no business being put in had nothing to say. Needless to say, the guy closed his account with the company and got a refund…rip off? Yes it is. This happens ALL the time, it just so happens the customer was lucky enough to catch this. The techs have no idea what goes on, they are not aware of some things. They simply get the tickets assigned to them and do what the tickets say

The promises
Selling their software as a miracle product is unrealistic, which is why the names were changed…along with the cheesy commercials with the cheap actors…The promises the sales make is completely unreal, and will tell customers anything they want to hear to make the sale.
I’ve gotten computers with 250 Mb of RAM a slow processor and the customer is promised that the techs will make it VERY fast like new. Now, let’s take a look at how impossible this is, the customer wants the software to run (the software at least takes 300 MB to run) on top of the system needing to run XP? The customer is expecting this. So after they wait on their system they see that after installing the software their system is even slower…They call back and tell the customer service its slow, we get the system and tell them, “You need more RAM’ they then get angry and say, “Well I just paid $140-$350 because I was told you could make my computer faster. To satisfy this we must turn off Another Early Detection Center for the sake of performance is to be turned OFF and disabled from start up….yes, now the customer computer is completely unsecured (not that it offers protection in the first place) on the internet. The customer is sometimes told that they must manually start their software. My other favorite is when I got the usual “major infections” and were working on the system, the customer is watching me work and watching all my scans come up clean…then the questions or statements begin, “the customer service tech said I had some infections, why aren’t you removing them?” It’s because he was lied to. A tech cannot remove something that does not exist…No matter how rigged the score card or “free diagnostics” is.

If the software is so good, why doesn’t the company employees use it on their own systems?
You would think a company’s employee would use their own software, especially if they can get it for free. I never worked for Norton but I’m sure they have great confidence with their product and I’m sure their own (most) employees use their products. This is not the case for Cyberdefender you will NOT find any employee with this software or any other software this company creates on their system, even if they may get the software for free, simply because they KNOW it does not work. Techs are not to down talk the software when the customer ask which is better, for example, if a customer ask, “Well, should I leave Norton installed or have your software put installed? I want the best security.” As a tech or a Cyberdefender employee or ex-employee we already know the customer is WAY better off with Norton; simply because, Early Detection Center detects almost nothing. I tested this out on my virtual pc, out of seventy-five infections Early Detection Center only detected four... In fact it’s tested on other system by other people and the results are the same, feel free to visit Youtube and type in Cyberdefender. One of the hardest things to do was removing a VERY good antivirus or any antivirus program that worked that had months to years of subscription time left to install Early Detection Center. EDC also blocks programs from functioning properly (such as Outlook). There were times when Early Detection Center detects itself as a virus/Trojan. It fails to run properly sixty five percent of the time (maybe a bit more), we cross our fingers when installing hoping it does not crash because that will lead to more work. Their registry cleaner detects errors on clean installation, damages other programs, removes files essential to the operating system (this is the case when customers call in and their problem is, “After I ran your registry cleaner my computer does not start anymore.”)

You may tell yourself “oh he’s just a bitter ex employee.” I promise you I’m not, I couldn’t be with a company that:
1. Lies to their customers in order to get them to shove up hundreds of dollars.
2. Brush off employee concerns.
3. Consist of arrogant sale managers/supervisors that belittle employees.
4. Tells their techs in so many words to ‘play along’.
5. Sells software products to customers that they know does not work.

Sorry, I need just a little bit more honesty, competence and integrity in my work environment. Maybe Cyberdefender should call up Jiffy and Easy Lube and ask how their business is; after all they have many things in common…

-Anonymous ex-employee

wow after the nasty email I got in response to my post..(see below) I am ever more sure that you are just a creepy ex employee looking to get back at an employer.
and yes I too can fix my own computer without yours or anyone else's help. Sorry darling it is a learned skill not a god given talent that only you have.

This is the email I received from Benedict:
And you will be one of the stupid ones to fall for their tricks and pay them $170-500.00 to fix your computer. I can fix my own computers, can you? I'm far from bitter I assure you, I'm just putting out the word, its up to the person to make their choice in the end.

I do not even have an account but you keep flashing my computer everyday to get this service which I D NOT WANT. Do I have to go to the BBB to get this taken care of which in minutes you can uninstall in minutes. Thank you very much.

This is nothing more than a cleverly designed trap to convince folks that their computer is so messed up that they have to pay their fee NOW to get help.

Read the reviews (including mine) on www.CCleaner.com

This is the only reliable and TOTALLY FREE registry cleaning software. I even included a link to a simple tutorial posted on YouTube on how to use it.

Check that out, and STAY AWAY from this new wave of 'registry' and 'PC' cleaning software websites and products!

To get rid of this load of C**P you will need Malwarebytes (free) and a good registry cleaner. Once you have run both of these then I would suggest running AVG (Again there is a free version) as MyCleanPC also installs CyberDefender which is known to install adware and at times trojans.

I'm amazed that after six months they are being allowed to advertise on TV as the FTC is currently investigating them. Their software is deliberately designed to find false positives to frighten you. If you use reputable and free software from AVG or Malewarebytes and the report no problems then this piece of C**P can't do anything other than add infections or report on non existent threats.

I am having the same problem with mycleanpc.com. I personally believe they r a big scam. My computer has not been the same since I downloaded it, and I CANNOT UNINSTALL THE PROGRAM AT ALL! I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING. I am computer knowledgable (not the greatest), but I can keep my pc up and running on my own, but I thought mycleanpc sounded like a good idea at the time. Anyway, I called the company, and they wanted to connect remotely to my computer, which I was very annoyed with, but I made them do it...They claimed they were not able to connect cause I dont have the proper connection (cable) WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THIS? I AM STUCK WITH THIS DAMB ANNOYING PROGRAM, THAT POPS UP EVERY MINUTE, NO MATTER WHAT IM DOING, AND INSISTSSSSS I PURCHASE! THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WE ALL CAN DO!

I agree with the original compaintant. THIS IS A SCAM They "scan your PC" and then ask for money to get rid of the supposed malware. There are many apps out there--some are even FREE. One of them is Superspyware free edition, and it gets rid of just about anything. The professional version (which I bought) was about $30, and includes PREVENTION. This version is a one time charge--you do not have to renew it yearly. Don't fall for free scans--they DO NOT remove them.

MyCleanPC wanted trial only i was charged for full subscription (didn't even get the service)i want to be credited thanx

I was sure i was only trying a sample of the service for a one time clean up of my system for a fee of a 1$ i was tricked into ordering a full package at a total cost of $72.10 it would be greatly appreciated to be recredited for this fee. as i have never had this service on my pc. and this fee is a great burden on our family budjet which is why i dont have any of these services. I thank you in advance for your concideration in this matter.

Thank you again
Dan Nickolai

PS. If i could have a phone no too allow me to speak to someone in person i would be greatful thanks again

Those "Fix It" programs are such snake oil. I ran it on my system just to see what it reports and the 403 so called errors it found have nothing to do with the speed of the computer or viruses, they are just registry entries that most systems have and are completely harmless. They're using scare tactics on people who don't know any better, total scam.
BTW, I'm a computer engineer and I edit the registry on my computer myself (not advised for beginners). I suggest anybody who got scammed into buying one of these Fit It programs asks for their money back or call your bank and do a chargeback.

I purchased an antivirus software from the site for $39.98 because I was having issues with my computer that their software claimed to fix. During the sale process, I read that I would receive an e-mail with pertainant loading information and a receipt. I bought a copy. I did not receive an e-mail and had problems downloading the software. I ended up...
