NECC is a telecom company having many of us as their long-distance plan customers. Unfortunatley, NECC is a big fraud! If you are one of their customers, they are scamming you so neatly that you won’t suspect a thing. I noticed this by pure coincidence:

In every bill there are phone calls that were also charged in the previous bill! For example, if your bill is for the period of say 23rd of June to 23rd of July, there are also some calls from the previous bill (typically the calls from the last three days of your previous bill) that are repeated. Calls that you have already paid for. So, you pay for those calls twice.

Not many people figure this out because: 1. Most people do not keep their bills for more than 1 months. 2. Even if they keep the bills, people would be too busy to go and check the details of the list of their calls to find out any repitition!

When I called their costumer service and complained the lady was not surprised at all. Either they have done this on purpose or have had previous costumers who noticed and complained but NECC did not bother to fix the issue. I convinced them to connect me with a supervisor and in the heat of the discussion, the supervisor said “It had happened since last August (August of 2009)” and I said “So you knew about this for one year and you did not take any action?!” She changed the subject immediately.

i agree with this, i knew someone who used to work for necc telecom and she said that necc also is pulse telecom and also blue tone and they all have different scams on the bills to rip people off. for instance, necc overcharges, u will always have to check the bills for accuracy. pulse telcom does the same thing. also carrier charge is a charge they make, it's a service fee. when they say there is no service fee, it's a lie.

teh customer service is very very horrible. they can yell and cuss at you. also the management is horrible. i used to have service with them and when i wanted to speak with supervisor, she first refused to come to the phone. then the rep said supervisor will call back when available. her name was antonoi or antonia or something. and she started to yell on the phone to me as if i dont know what i am doing and asking for. i asked her, isn't the customer have a right to complain. she said if you want to make a complain send us email. she didnt even sympatize with me on the issue. it's as if it's her father's company. i was overcharged on teh bill for the past year and she was refuing to give me refund stating that she cant give my money back for over two billing months. because i didnt complain on time. i didnt see the problem on time because i trusted the company. then she hung up the phone on me when i asked to speak with someone on higher desk.

i refused to pay, and they kept calling me and calling me and harrasiong me tellinhg me that they will send me to collection. then all the calls stopped and i never receved a bill from them.

i was also chanrged for ridiculus late fee charges.

so it's all a scam. they keep asking u to pay but if they are wrong, do nt pay and they wont send u to collection because they cant send yo uto collection when it's their fault. they are bastart company.

it is so true what you said here, I had the same bad experience with NECC. I just can't understand that this fraudulent company is even allowed to operate in Canada.

Yes. The name Antonia reminds me of a very bad experience I had when I called NECC Telecom on a mistake that NECC caused.
Anyway Upon receipt of my February 2012 bill I noticed by surprise a charge called "Bill Processing charge". A charge that wasn't there for a good 5 years as a customer of NECC. I also figured that this charge started to show on my monthly bill since September 2011. Their agreement says that they are supposed to notify the customer before charging a new fee. Not charge it first then hope the customer doesn't notice it later. So I called and learnt from NECC customer rep that if I wanted this charge to stop being charged that I should enroll in a E-bill program. So I did. That means no mail of paper bill. I never knew of this so I requested also to refund the charges since September 2011 with the tax. They refused and when I asked to speak to the supervisor the rep said that she was busy. I insisted to talk to the supervisor. Then I get a man called Ridwan acting like a supervisor when the rep had said that the supervisor was a woman. Ridwan decided to jsut refund me the February charge. Then when I got no where with Ridwan I asked to speak with the manager as NECC betrayed my trust and slipped this charge without informing me of my options in advance regarding the charge. Ridwan acted like he's the end of the line for this case. So I attempted to find other contact info for the ownership of NECC all contacts even on the agreement "where it says if you want to complain it gives you a number and an email that takes you back to Ridwan. So if you are not happy with Ridwan there is noone to complain to.

I informed Ridwan that his choices were to refund me the charge since september 2011 or save the 10$ + tax and no more referral to NECC from my end. I also said that I will open my eyes for other long distance companies. He chose to save the 10$+tax. What a cheap company with poor business ethics. Then I noticed that there are numerous complaints on NECC Telecom all across North America with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

So beware if you do business with them. They will trick you when you least expect it.

I currently have Bluetone for my long-distance calling (www.btone.ca) and I will be cancelling it soon. I really hate Bluetone. So many little fees (which adds up!) that I wasn't aware of when I joined over the phone, because they didn't tell me ("Transporter Surcharge", "COF Fee", etc.). The late fee for this is quite ridiculous in my opinion -- $5, even if your bill was 1 cent. They try to find every little ways to get money out of its customers. Here's the Bluetone "Terms of Service - Customer Service Agreement": https://btone.ca/Documents/BTCA/CSA.pdf.

I'm so angry at Bluetone right now. I was at Call Select before Bluetone, and they were actually way better. I did online billing with these two companies. I was with Call Select for over 1.5 year, and I was only charged for the long-distance calling (with the same country calling rate as Bluetone) and taxes. With Bluetone, I was charged for the long-distance calling (with the same country calling rate as Call Select), taxes, along with COF Fee (this one is tricky; make sure you read the Terms of Service) and Transporter Surcharge. 30% of my Bluetone bill is made up of their additional fees.

My advice to everyone: DO NOT GO WITH BLUETONE.

Thanks.

I am with Blue Tone Telecom since 3 years ago and I never had any issues. I don't even know their CS phone number. If you pay your bills in time everything is fine.

I am with BlueTone for almost 2 years now and I don't seem to have any problems with them, their bills and charges are accurate, the customer service is always willing to help, the only thing I would ask them to change is the waiting time. Sometimes it goes up to 10 min and it can get a little annoying but other than that, I'm pretty happy with their quality of service and the rates! I have yet to find a company that doesn't charge any late fees if a payment is not made on time, or that doesn't have any taxes...those companies that don’t show them on the bill, have the taxes included on the rates and BlueTone gives that option as well, which I have and I would recommend that to anyone!

I am with BlueTone since 2010, never had a problem, my wife and children call the most, I only use the service over the weekend. Never had a problem, my wife calls usually from her cell and I call from work phone using their calling card service. Good connections, no complains from me. That's all I can ask from a telecom company: good rates, good quality connections. Give them to me and I'm your customer!

NECC raised my rates without telling me. When I called them, I was told that I should have looked on their website. How often should I waste my time to get on their website? I expected them to inform me somehow about the high rates before they applied them to my bill. My rates were higher than what they advertise. I only have the calling card plan with them. When I signed up I was told that there are no hidden fees. That is not true! Be aware, check your statement! There are companies that offer same plan at 1/3 of NECC's rates. Can't believe they are in business.

This company is a complete scam. I closed my account with them and they continued to send bills. They said the final bill was not paid in time so there was a late fee. Stupidly, I sent them the late fee (through my bank bill payment). They did not cash that bank check in time so they could send me another late bill. The bank showed the payment was sent to them two weeks before they cashed it so they could charge me again. Stay away from these crooks.

NECC has been sending me bills of 6-10$ during the months I did not use the service at all.
