I imagine after my experience, that maybe a lot of people lie because they treated me like a liar with absolutely no idea how terrible this week had been for me and my family. Here's our story:

On April 13th our 4 year old son had a fever of 101. From my knowledge, if it's below 104, you treat it at home. Which is what we did. We alternated Tylenol and Ibuprofen every 3 hours. We kept him home from school. On April 14th, he seemed well and had no fever. We sent him to school. On April 15th right through April 21st (today) he's progressively gotten worse. A fever every morning, lethargy, cough, congestion, runny nose. My husband and daughter followed and started having the same symptoms on April 17th. I only had a sore throat until the 18th. That's when the fever, headache, coughing, etc happened. It was so bad, we all stayed home from work/ school. My husband's parents brought us otc medication because my husband and I didn't feel safe to drive- nor did we have the energy. We were so sick we thought we had Covid. We tested on April 20th. Results came back negative. I decided to go to urgent care today (April 21st) so I have documentation to give at work.

I was going go to Nextcare Urgent care on Kino. But as I was reserving my spot, I saw I could do telehealth. I opted for this instead as I'm still fatigued and would rather not drive. The doctor, although her demeanor was friendly didn't believe me and tried to dismiss it as allergies. I thought I was going crazy. After the phonecall, I asked my husband if we just imagined the last week? Of course not. He told me to go in person, which I did, aong with our daughter. We've been so worried about her. We got her an Owlet- a device to monitor her breathing as she sleeps. My husband and son stayed home. We figured we'd all take the same medication and treatment plan that they give me. Our daughter is a baby, so hers would be different. Going in was the same experience. I had an NP with a friendly demeanor too, but he didn't believe me. He also thought it might be allergies. I asked for a doctor's note. He didn't give me one. I left. Called my husband upset, turned around and went back to ask again, that's when they gave me one and asked what day I'd like it for.

My problem here is the invalidation, first of all. I just had one of the roughest weeks in a very long time and I'm being made to feel like it didn't even happen. My second problem is the friendly overtones while I'm being essentially called a liar. This is what's referred to today as gaslighting. Third, why ask me when I want to return to work? As my provider if you don't believe I'm sick, run more tests or refer me to someone that can run more tests. Urgent care is meant to be there when you're sick but can't walk into your doctor's office on the same day. My doc appointment is two weeks out, I will be recovered by then. What is the point of urgent care if you think people are lying to get out of work?

I have the option to work from home, I don't need to be in person, I'm not trying to get out of my job. I am also still in my 3 month period meaning I have no sick time. I'm taking these sick days unpaid. Everyday I've called in sick. I've lost about $200. My urgent care visit today. Cost me $150 for my daughter and I. In total, by not being at work 3 days this week and the useless urgent care visit cost me $750. Our monthly bills cost us at least $3000 before groceries and gas. What is the benefit in me lying just to get out of work unpaid?

I am sick. I am not a liar.

My integrity is my core foundation. I'm am hurt and insulted with the way I was treated. I feel like I cannot seek medical care when I need to for fear of being dismissed. Those fears were realised today.

Desired outcome: I would like a refund for the wasted Telehealth. I paid twice for the same service and didn't even get a diagnosis. I would also like a response and apology.
