I am complaining because the physician I am seeing is refusing to give me a referral to an endocrinologist. I have hypothyroidism and I desperately need to see a specialist for thyroid management and pain. I am confirmed to have thyroid cyst and the pain seems to worsen and prolong. For several months I have been calling and asking for a referral and yet still she refuses to do so. I called 09/02/2022 and spoke to a receptionist who gave me some information about why I haven’t been given a referral. She quoted that the doctor said she “doesn’t find it necessary”. Mind you she is in her second year of residency and already a typical lousy american doctor. So now doctors don’t give referrals at a patients at request even when it’s absolutely necessary and i’ve already had multiple test done that confirm I need to see a specialist!? Because she doesn’t find it necessary. What bs. Erin gallagher is the name of this physician and she works at north country healthcare in flagstaff, az 86001 4th street.
Desired outcome: I WANT A REFERRAL!!!!! And I’m changing doctors.
I do hope you have resolved this issue and gotten the care and consideration you need. Whenever this happens in the future be sure to ask for a second opinion and you can fire your doctor and ask for a new one. There is no sense in having a doctor get paid through your insurance if they can't do something as simple and harmless as sending a referral whether they believe it's needed or not that will be up to the specialist to decide. Never stop being an advocate for yourself and others.
