They confiscated my alcohol (decorative bottles from Amalfi) a 600gm sealed Jar of pistachio cream and 2x sealed jars of cherry jam that you can only get from a village outside of Rome. I had them in my carry on because I didn’t want them to break. At Rome airport I had asked if it was ok to store in my carry on and they said yes providing I’m not changing aircraft's ie getting onto a domestic flight in Perth or somewhere else. I was on QF6 from Rome to Sydney stopping at Perth for 90 mins. When we landed in Perth Qantas made an announcement saying we must leave all duty free in our overhead compartments but everything else must come off the aircraft because they need to clean the plane. So I left the plane with my carry on but left duty free behind. Once in the airport terminal they made us go through x-ray and here they confiscated my belongings. There was no reason to be x-rayed when we were only stopping for a refuel. We did not exit or go through immigration so there was no need for it as we were already check and approved in Rome and had just flown 15hrs in the same aircraft we were reboarding. I was getting on the same plane, I don’t see the logic in their actions.

It happened to a few of us from the flight. However, what was really upsetting is the security guards told us if we get someone from Qantas to agree to take them on the plane for us then they will hand the goods to the Qantas staff. Qantas staff showed up and said they would do it because they don’t understand the reason for the x-ray when we got off the plane and were getting back on. They haven’t ever seen this happen before and with the traveling I have done, it’s never happened before when you get off the plane for refueling (stopover). Anyway, after Qantas staff said they will do it for us the security guards changed their minds and would not allow it. I don’t see the logic behind their actions. These were items I carried for weeks and then I was forced to surrender them so they can enjoy them for themselves. I know this because they showed no empathy or compassion towards us. I have been so upset over this where I have literally lost sleep and stressed over it.

Desired outcome: Compensating as this was worth about $75euro . They stop this practice of stealing and, I get an apology
