Perth Airport Security review: Complaint

On the 11th May at 6:20 my flight landed in Perth international Airport from Doha. I was travelling from Nigeria with my husband. My husband and I went down to the baggage claim to pick up our bags and as we picked up our bags walking towards the queue, a security walked up to us and ask for our passes (IPC) which we provided. Joining the queue and walking towards security we showed our IPC to the security and he asked us to go down at the end of room. While we were there, the securities did a thorough search, through our bags and phones which lasted for about 3 hours. Now, my problem is that I feel targeted every-time I travel back to Australia I’m always the one being pull out from everyone for a thorough search. I am using the word “ I’m “ because my husband always say to me that he never go through all that whenever he travels alone. I understand it’s their job to do so, however I feel embarrassed and attacked every time this happen. Every time I travel I always have think about the 3 hours I’ll be spending in that airport with the securities after a long flight. The same thing happened last year when I travelled back from Istanbul, Turkey in October. I went there for surgery and I was in so much pain returning back. The securities held me there for 3 hours even after providing everything they asked for, I even provided notes from my doctor. My wounds took longer to heal because of sitting in one position for too long when I should be laying down resting as my doctor instructed. I ask the security, why am I always being pulled out, because I don’t think this is random. If there is anything I believe I have the right to know. They couldn’t give me any valid reasons. I feel offended somehow, I wouldn’t want to call it racism because I believe Australia is better than that. However, it is embarrassing and time wasting for me to always be the last soul to leave the airport. I hope I get a better answer to why I’m being checked thoroughly like that because is it getting out of control. I don’t want to always have a stressful thought when travelling, knowing that I will be at the airport with securities for 3 hours returning back.
