I've enjoyed Planter's Peanuts for over 30 years. In my opinion, they were the standard of quality against which other peanuts were judged. Over the past two years, I've noticed wide variations in the amount of salt on the peanuts. Normal peanuts (ie: not lightly salted) sometimes have very little salt or sometimes too much to eat. It seems that quality control has declined.
A worse problem occurred recently. I bought a 16 oz can of Planter's cocktail peanuts. They tasted fine at first. Then I noticed a bitter taste in my mouth. I looked in the can and saw oil on the nuts and on the walls of the can, something I normally don't see. I assume the nuts were rancid.
I know peanuts often have small amounts of aflotoxin, a highly potent carcinogen. I was worried that the rancid peanuts might have had high amounts of aflotoxin.
Needless to say, I won't be buying Planters peanuts again.

Very disappointed in a recent purchase of Planters Mixed Nuts which are more expensive than other brands. The nuts were to have pecans, cashews, almonds, brazil nuts, and pistachios. The container only had almonds and cashews with two pistachios, one pecan, and one Brazil nut. I dumped it out to see after shaking it for the other nuts. I would like a refund or a proper replacement. What has happened to Planters after Hormel bought them?
Very disappointed in a recent purchase i bought cocktail peanuts, peanuts hard as rocks will not buy again code number 0120-w2
Why don't you people take into consideration us poor people that do not like almonds and make cans of mixed nuts with no almonds and more Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, pistachios, and walnuts. I always end up throwing away about half a can of nuts cause they are almonds. Try to do something about it. Judith Eastman 1707 McMillan ave #9 Bay Minette, AL 36507
