We bought a mini labradoodle puppy from Scott and Pam Franklin, the breeders, with the assurance that the dog would arrive by plane in good health. They said they would stand by their puppy.
The poor puppy arrived covered in crap and very sick. We took him to a vet right away and he had intestinal parasites, an ear infection, an eye infection, giardia, a staff infection, and a luxating patella to name just a few issures. We spent a ton of money on medication that we had to give him three times a day. He hadn't been kept clean because we had to bathe the dog over and over again to get the stinch off his fur.
When I contacted Scott and told him what happened, I also gave him details from the vet bill. He said that I paid too much for the vet service. For instance, one of the shots we had to get alone cost $45, and he wrote that he gives them to the dogs himself on the farm for $7. Well we don't live in Mayberry, we live in a city where we use vets. He gaffed us off and made it clear we were on our own with our puppy.
Needless to say, he would not reimburse any portion of the vet bills or offer to stand by his 'healthy pet' guarantee. Even if he had offered, we were not ready to 'give back' the puppy for another one-- it's not a toaster oven, it's a living thing that we had grown attached to. I think they count on that attachment. They are just bad dog breeders.
The thing that bothers me is that in order to fly the dog on the airline, he had to give the airline a certified vet paper stating the dog was free of intestinal parasites. How did they get around that? That's illegal and it's shoddy business.
We love our little labradoodle with all our hearts, but he has been back to the vet almost everymonth. He has severe allergies, a cough that we can't stop, and a host of stomach issues we can't seem to get a handle on.
I would never recommend Scott Franklin or any of his family to anyone looking for a pet. If you buy from them, do yourself a favor and go there in person and look at the facility. And draw up your own legal papers because their guarantee isn't worth beans.

I checked out the website in question. This is a classic puppy mill, advertising SEVEN different breeds just on the homepage alone. I'm sure there are others, there usually are. If you just sit back, even without the knowledge of puppy mills and all the horrible stuff they bring to the table, and think- what sane person has time to properly devote to at least SEVEN different dogs, of different breeds? And this doesn't even include the puppies! It's very simple to keep tons of different dogs when you keep them all in cages. Places like Kansas and Missouri are known puppy mill states, the regulations there are lax and they thrive until somebody shuts them down. I'm sorry you got roped into buying from this particular breeder. I'm not sure exactly what let you to them, what the underlying push was. All I have to say is... be very very careful what breeders you buy from. This breeder was full of red flags that you ignored, simply choosing to look at cute doggy faces, instead. I hope, for your sake, that the worst is over with your puppy. Good luck to you.
