Rescue Rooter review: Overcharged 1

I had a problem with the upstairs master bathroom toilet which became clogged and was draining slowly. I looked in the yellow pages and found their advertisement. When I placed the call, I told the dispatcher that the only issue was that the master bathroom toilet was draining slowly. I also explained that the master bathroom tub and sink were draining fine. Additionally, I informed the dispatcher that the adjoining hallway bathroom toilet, tub and sink were draining and working fine. And lastly I explained my wife and I would be at work but we did have adult children at home. The dispatcher was polite and assured me this would not be a problem and a service representative would be dispatched to our residence for service. I felt comfortable allowing the service to take place while I was at work based on what the dispatcher told me. Although I understand a firm price cannot be established over the phone without first investigating the issue, I did feel that with only one toilet to unclog could not be that expensive, maybe 45-75 dollars. When I got home my son presented me with a work order receipt for $280.00. The bill indicted Auger Toilet, $141.73, Additional toilet, $46.47, Replace Flapper Ball $18.00, Replace Fluid Master, $45.00 and Truck Operating Fees $29.50.

Being in Customer Service myself I am not going to scream, curse, and threaten or anything of that sort. I am simply going to tell you that all that was asked for was to have one toilet snaked and sincerely feel we were taken advantage of since we could not be home, even after the assurance of the dispatcher and the professional advertisement appearance in the yellow pages. I feel ashamed that there are still businesses operating in Utah that take advantage of people and circumstances that are beyond their control. I know for certain that if this is the way their company operates that I will never require their services again and will make sure that you are not recommended to anyone by me in the future.
