Possible Identity Theft Scam
I also place a job wanted ad on Craigslist in the Nashville, TN area. Today I received the same request as the San Francisco resident for me to fill out an online application. I was suspicious when I clicked on the link and it took me to a fairly blank page. Most companies I have applied online with have a legitimate site with info on the company. This had nothing. I did a search and found the other complaint. It was enough to stop me. THANKS.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Identity Theft Scam
I placed an employment ad on www. craigslist.org and I got a response from a company called Delveco. The respondant from Delveco wanted me to complete an online application using their website which included personal information I believe could be used to aid them in stealing my identity. Being a former Law Enforcement Officer who previously investigated crimes of Identity Theft in California; this solitation appearred to be an fraudulant attempt to obtain my personal information.
Using Google, I attempted to search this company via the web and I was unable to locate any background information on Delveco which lead me to believe this was an Identity Theft Scam.
Below I've cut & pasted the response from Delveco that was sent to my email address in response to my employement ad.

We came across your resume and think you would be a great asset to our company.
Our opportunity, starting off at $17 an hour, is located in portland.
I'd like to make an appointment for a phone interview tomorrow.
In light of the issues facing our industry we are taking a selective approach to approval.
Prior to your phone interview we ask you to finish the following:
1.) Tell us a little bit more about yourself, any additional background information that you feel we should know. Please be sure to include your telephone number.
2.) The best time for us to schedule the interview. Morning (9-11am) or Evening (2-5pm)
3.) We REQUIRE all applicants to have a credit report on hand prior to the scheudled interview.
Important: Your credit score is not relevant, it is only used to verify your background details.
The report allows us to verify your legal US citizenship and employment history. It also provides us with a confirmation of your address. DO NOT email us the info, we will ask you to fax it over during the phone interview.

You should write a FULL review of your experience with this consulting firm in detail so others can learn from it.
Basically there are lot of new fradulent consulting companies posting fake jobs all over the job boards to scam unsuspecting desperate job seekers. These firms are registered thru a PO Box with a internet phone number while the real crooks operating from So. India from places like Bangalore, Madras, Culcutta, etc. These are former IT consultants that used to work here and went back to india after their visas expired. so they run these scams now.
Things to watchout for:
- They will post fake jobs in locations other then their home areas. Never trust anyone
calling you for a job in NY while they are registered in atlanta etc..
- Be very cautious if they speak with a heavy indian accent and do not answer the calls.
- Always check up on the website and the recruiter to see if its not a PO Box operated
business.
- Do not send a resume to anyone that does have their full name, address, and ph number
on the job posting.
- Never send your resume with personal info unless you can verify the legitimacy of the
Co.
- Most of the time your resume will never reach the hiring managers because the jobs do
not exist, however it will be used to obtain duplicate id's to conduct fraud
I have also received the same message after posting a painting ad on craigslist. The only research I have done was looking up delveco at yellowpages.com. It lead me to this site. The company claims they are located near me in Minneapolis, MN, but they didn't even come up on a website used by most businesses in my local area.
I just got the same email - Diff was I was being offered 19$
