Box Left on Street after Delivery
Last week, my husband purchased a dishwasher at Gerhard's Appliances in Glenside, PA. This morning two men delivered it to my home. What I didn't know, until my neighbor across the street called me, was that they left the box on the sidewalk up the street from me. I immediately called Gerhards to report this and to find out if this is their usual practice. They told me the men would come back and get it. My husband said if they didn't come back soon, they could come get the dishwasher. Is this what's called customer service?
Worst service
I purchased five appliances w/service plan from Gerhards Appliances in Doylestown, PA and they are the worst at following up; returning phone calls, lied about parts being ordered to get me off the phone, basically said its not their problem I bought a $3, 000 refrigerator from them, waiting over a week for a response. The service department is run by Bob the *** and his tech team of losers and liers. Do I really need to go on? Never, ever, will I buy from them again! Unless of course I want false promises, incompetence, below grade products and poor service.
They are the worst of the worst
Kitchenaid refrig repair. Listened well on first visit, pleasant serviceman. Returned, did a nice job replacing a part after speaking to the mfg as I requested. No complaint so far. But, the next day the fix failed. I placed 3 calls in three days, none of which were returned. On one call I spoke to the service manager that had all the concern of a rock. He never followed up as he had promised to do. The 3 women that answer the phones were curt, and unhelpful.
I spoke to the owner/GM, Linda. She informed me that they did me a favor by servicing a Kitchenaid they had not sold me...I had bought a dishwasher from them. She said had they known this was a pre existing condition, they would never had serviced it, just like healthcare! All they needed to do was ask. Nice store policy? Makes one want to run right in! Had no conern about the customer experience when I complained. She was neither gracious nor caring, but was short, cold, disconnected, and condescending. She offered a refund on the part at the end of the conversation, despite my stating I was not interested in a refund
I will never buy from Gerhard's or seek service from them. They are the worst of the worst.

I was just casually shopping near a Gerhards retail store and stopped in and found a goos dishwasher sale. I purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher and the salesman asked if I wanted black, white, or stainless. I told him black and we went to a clerk in the back who prepared all paperwork. Installation was scheduled for a tuesday between 11:00AM and 2:00PM. After staying home from work all day, I called the store at 4:00PM and was told the installer was still on his 1st call of that day and would reschedule for the next day. They showed up on time and removed my old dishwasher and brought in the new...WRONG COLOR! They couldn't get the black one until two days later. Mwanwhile, they left the old dishwasher in my driveway and then I found water all over my floor. They failed to plug the drain in my disposal so all water was just running out. I called Gerhards and they told me I would be the 1st install the next day. At 9:00AM the installer called and said he was on his way to New Hope and would be there in the afternoon...stay tuned!
P.S. The color mix up was all on the salesman...we agreed on black and the prepared the paperwork as white.
Bought a Whirlpool dishwasher in fall of '06 (among other appliances during my home renovation) and the motor has gone bad 3 times in just over 3 years. Gerhards will not go to bat for us with Whirlpool, instead telling us to contact them ourselves. So I called Whirlpool and after a lengthy discussion they gave me $50 off the $160 part. It arrived today so I called the store to have it installed and the first time they can do it is 5 days from now. Needless to say, I am not happy and will think long and hard about dealing with Gerhard's or Whirlpool again.
