Loanfinder UK refund

£29.78 was taken out of my account without authorisation, I had enquired about a loan on 2nd september 2010 but they failed to find me one so I emailed them and they confirmed I wouldn't have to pay any fees. The money was taken out on 6th october.
I emailed them several times over a space of 2 days without a response, but after reading on here to mention about the economic crime unit and "unauthorised and fruadalent use of bank card" I sent another.
I got a response within 3 hours.

"Hi Kate,

Thanks for your email and I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

I'm quite concerned that you say you didn't authorise the transaction that was paid. We received an online application with details matching yours on 02/09/10 at 13.37pm and the fee for the Loanfinder service was set up to be paid on 24/09/10.

I will gladly issue you a full and immediate refund of the fee you paid and can confirm that you should see the money in your bank account within 5 - 10 working days, depending on how long your bank or building society take to process it. I have also cancelled all further payments to us.

If you do believe you have been a victim of fraud I strongly advise you to contact your local Police and bank immediately. We will be more than happy to liaise with them and provide any information required for their investigations, to get your case resolved as quickly and smoothly as possible.

This complaint is being dealt with using our Complaints Handling Procedure, which I have attached for your reference. If I don't receive a response from you within eight weeks of the date of this email I will consider the complaint closed. If you are dissatisfied with my response you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk within six months.

If I can provide you any further details on your application or our service please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Charlotte Schuller
Customer Care Team
Loanfinder"

Thanks for the advice.

I was looking for a loan and ended up on loanfinder uk site. It stated that there was no upfront fee. I decided that i would not go with them and told them this when they kept ringing me. There was no mention of direct debits when i signed up. When i checked my bank i saw that money had been took, from this company.

I have just discovered that Loanfinder uk have set up a direct debit with my bank for £55.78 without my consent. I was promised a loan and that was a joke, this money was all i had left in my account which has now caused great difficulties for me. I would NOT reccomend this cheating company to anyone. Is there anyone who can help me and others to get them to refund the money they have basically stolen. JG

I have just had the same problem, HOWEVER i have never applied for a loan through this company! They have provided me with a 'refund' email hello@loanfinder.co.uk. This IS against the law, they have obviously bought my information from another lender has i currently have a loan, which ends in July this is the only lender i can think of. I am disgusted that these people are able to dip into my hard earned money as and when they please without consent!

Loanfinder UK ilegaly taking money from peoples accounts

Loan finder works by collecting personal information with a view to assisting you to find the best loan or credit card etc, as you progress through the site it confirms there will be No charges for this but in small print after you have entered your personal account information is states that a charge will be applied for there service, even when you cancel your progress through there site, without agreeing to anything they retain your information and charge you regardless, then they share information with there umberella/sister conpanies and charge you again for the finding a good credit card deal which you never asked for.
Charges come out of your and your powerless to stop it, to appeal you have to get the bank on your side and send multiple letters disputing the legality, they never give money back and they should be named and shamed invetigated by the Police and through watchdog.
The names they use are :

Loanfinder.
Post Net Bounmouth,
CGS credit card service.
Payment Guard

Any link to Loanfinders spin off accounts are the same.
BE Warned., they prey on people already having dificulty with money

I went on their site after reading your post and it does not say anywhere that 'you will not be charged'. Have you actually read the site? No 'up-front fees' does not mean 'free'. You also have to agree to get a credit card - it is not automatically given to you. You do get a free credit score for the first 30 days and then it is 8 or 9 quid a month after that, but you can cancel at any time. My wife used these guys when I was stationed in Iraq and she liked the service. In fact, she had to cancel one loan and she said that she got her money back within 7 days without hassle. I just can't figure out what you are on about.

Loanfinder UK TAKING FUNDS FROM MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT SECURING ME AN UNSECURED LOAN AS PROMISED

Hi there,

Sometime during December 2009 I filled out an online application form for what i considered LOANFINDER UK would give my details to an established unsecured loan company. LOANFINDER UK market their services as having no upfront fees, although this is not altogether true.

On 24th December 2009 LOANFINDER UK withdrew £47.87 from my account and still failed to set me up with an unsecured loan. On 15th January 2010 LOANFINDER UK withdrew a further £8.99 from my account but still they failed to produce their marketing promise.

On 28th January 2010 LOANFINDER UK attempted to withdraw the two amounts £29.82 and £47.87, respectively. These latest two Direct Debits have been returned to my account as there were insufficient funds available in my account. My bank, LloydsTSB, has unplanned overdraft fees which vary between £39.00 and £69.00, again respectively.

I really cannot afford to waver these amounts withdrew by LOANFINDER UK as I am a disabled lone parent with my childrens mother passing away at the very young age of 32, of October 2008.

My reasons for attempting to secure an unsecured loan was to consolidate high interest doorstep loans, plus, also to have some home improvements carried out.

I would still not mind if LOANFINDER UK honoured their marketing ploy and were able to secure myself with an unsecured loan. I absolutely cannot afford to lose these amounts that LOANFINDER UK has withdrew from my account, or afford to pay unplanned overdraft fees on the two returned direct debits.

I truly hope that you can be of assistance to myself and my children and either have my fees returned that LOANFINDER UK has withdrew, plus, the funds for my unplanned overdrafts - I would be prepared to waver these fees should they secure me an unsecured loan, as promised. Thanking you.

Kindest and warmest of regards,

Ste Blaney

This compay called Loanfinder has somehow got my card details and billed my card 29.78 on 12/05/2010. They have done this with NO PERMISSION from me!

At first i thought it could be a mistake and i accepted a finders fee or something like that by mistake and thought i would have to pasy for my mistake. I have now found out not only have they done this to others but they tried to make a direct debit from my account today (28/05/2010) again of 29.78! I cant believe they have the audassity! I have reported it to the bank and the fraud team and am now going to press charges, but what happens to my money?

OK i get back the direct debit but now have to fight for the card payment as well?

It is shocking that companies are able to get hold of your details so easily and use them, i thought there was supposed to be security against this happening?

What else can i do, i am now out of pocket over 58 pound and cant see what erlse i can do to recover the money.

This company took a fee of 29.99 from my account without authorization. The company had stated that after they find a suitable loan for me and I am in receipt of the funds they would take a fee. I have not got a loan or any paperwork from them and they did not have my permisson to take this mona from my account. I would like it refunded or I will take legal action. These companies are a con and function by means ofraud they should be stopped as the people they take money from are already in bad financial situations so instead of helping they make matters worse!

I have an 18 year old daughter who suffers from autistic spectrum disorter and she is unable to fill out forms because of her poor understanding, reading and spelling abilities. She happen to hell me that her online banking was showing she was overdrawn by £14+ and she didn't understand why. At first I thought she had somehow used her debit card which had enabled her to become overdrawn in someway.

After looking at her account it was actually bank charges which had made her overdrawn so I asked her to show me any bank letters she may have received. She is not very good at reading and just files her bank statements and letter so she showed me 2 bank letters she had received because she had not enough funds in her account to pay 2 direct debits for Loanfinder uk and Credit Xtra.

I was absolutely horrified and questioned her at length asking if she had attempted to get any loans and she didn't even know what I was talking about. She may be 18yrs old now but she cannot even spell her own address never mind filling in an online form!

I spent ages trying to get through to her bank who put an instant stop on any more direct debits but advised us to go into our local branch and open a new bank account, which we did. But the bank cancelled her debit card and are re-issueing her with a new one with a new pin number but could not give us an appointment for a couple of weeks time to get her a new bank account. They did however give us the telephone number of the company which happens to cover both the direct debit attempts from her account. They did reimburse her overdraft charges as well.

I phoned the company but it was an automated service and could not get through to anybody and so found an online email address and did eventually get through to somebody who did phone me. He told me that somebody had filled an online form in for a loan and that the charges made to the account where for there services for searching for a loan - they were actually very helpful when I explained about my daughter's special needs. He said they would not pursue her account for any more charges.

We still are proceeding with changing my daughters bank account which I'm fuming about the length of time this is taking and am still unsure whether somebody has filled some kind of online form and given her bank details because how else could they have got them because it only takes somebody to look at the details on her debit card to use these details to do something like this. There should be some system that stops company's having access to bank accounts through direct debits without the bank owners consent!

Hi,

My name's Candice and I work for Loanfinder. I was really sorry to stumble across your post. My job at Loanfinder is to make the experience of using Loanfinder as perfect as it can possibly be, so I'm sure you can understand how upset I am to hear that you're not satisfied with the service you've received.

Loanfinder is really simple:For using our service, you pay a fee directly to us on a date that you choose. We do the work to match you with the best lender for you before you pay, that way if you're not happy with the lender that we've found, you can just login, cancel your account and you never have to pay us. If you forget that you've set a payment and accidentally pay the service fee when you didn't mean to, simply contact me and I'll give you a refund of your fee without any fuss.

Please contact me directly on candice.gallab@rgroup.co.uk so that I can find out who you are and investigate your case properly.

Regards,

Candice

Loanfinder UK are they a scam too

I recently was phoned by loanfinder uk as they claim my details had been passed to them and said they could find me a loan as i have no credit history in the uk and am trying to build it. I told them i am wary of brokers as i have been scammed by loans4sure and didnt want to pay an upfront fee..they were very nice and said they wouldnt take the fee unless they found me a loan..i haven't heard from them in two weeks and they took out their £29.50 admin fee and i've still no loan now am trying to recover that money.

are they a scam? please tell me ive not been burned again for being trusting this company is different surely there is a loan company out there that arent scammers...

I don't think they are a scam at all. It seems that all the people on this board didn't really know what they were signing up for. I paid the fee and managed to find a loan through the website within 2 days. The way the website works is great, and I had recommendations made to me very quickly by someone called tara.

I think if loanfinder were taking money without peoples permission then they would have been shut down a very long time ago! I have no idea what their customer services department is like because I did everything via the website. I much prefer it that way...call centres drive me insane :S

I had applied for a loan with loan finder, told them the companies that had turned me down for a loan but they still put me through to them, I've constantly received calls from numerous loan companies INCLUDING FLM (I have NO guarantor owning their own home pointless waste of time) and without my consent Loan finder have taken £45 from my bank account, I tried to contact them but kept being put on hold for ages on end so I can expect my phone bill to be alarmingly high, I didn't even receive a call from them confirming if it was ok to do so! now i'm even more short of money for christmas! it's infuriating and reading the experience on this website I would agree with this company being a complete fraud, I shall be speaking with my bank in terms of a charge back to claim my money back.
