Not working from the start
On 11/08/2014 I purchased a Magic Chef Wine and Beverage Center. We did not start using it until 12/24/2014. Soon after we plugged it in we noticed that the lower zone was not keeping temperature that we set it on. it kept getting warmer. I called Magic Chef and they set me up with a claim#. I was contacted by local refrigeration co. Which came to my home and they determined that the units control board was faulty. They ordered a new control board the put it in last week it worked for 4 days and my unit is doing the same thing that I complained for. The unit is a POS, I contact the co again today and that customer service rep was very rude. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she stated he was not available and would I like his voice mail. I left a message but I do not expect a return call from him. Now I have a battle in my hands instead of enjoying my not working over priced unit. I recommend that you stay clear away form any Magic Chef products specially Wine and Beverage Center (POS)
Product failure Wine Cooler
Purchased wine cooler model MCWC50DBT from Home Depot a little over a year ago.
It was out of warranty by one month. I called Home Depot (Jerks) and they could care less. I then called Magic Chef and was since it was out of warranty they would only cover the compressor. At my expense I had to have it removed and sent to them. I contacted a service man and the charge was more than the junk cost. The serviceman asked me where was the product made. I told him it was from China. Then he politely told me that was my problem. Needless to say I do not shop at Home Depot due to their attitude. I went shopping for another cooler and was determined to fine on made in the old USA. Guess what I don't have a wine cooler because all appliances are made in China. Boy! are we dumb or what! But, don't blame the Chinese it's the USA Corporations that are so damn greedy and looking for the cheapest product to screw the American consumer. They know if it's made in China you will be back in the marked within 6 months to a year for the same item.
Hey! do you remember when Wal-Mart came out and said they would only sell items made in America. Boy was that a crock. Every thing they sell now is made in China.
Moral of story, go to Lowe's or Ace Hardware. Oh! by the way Best Buy is the same.
See ya!

Bad service
I have purchased four (4) magic chef refrigerators since December 2007 from Home Depot. I have had problems with all 4 of them. This is a high rate of failure for any appliance and I think this model is a lemon. 1) One was broken as soon as I bought it and returned to Home Depot and I got it replaced in October 2007. 2) A second one broke which I received...

My Magic Chef Electric Range, model # CER3735ACZ is just over 1 year old and the control panel has stopped working. After doing much research on the Internet and finding out that this is a very common occurrence for this company, I have opted to not bother fixing it since there are so many report that the problem will re-occur in 2 years. This is a very expensive part to replace (about $250-$300 with service call) so if one had to replace it twice in 5 years, that would almost cost as much as the range cost in the first place. I was never very impressed with the range in the first place so I am not upset about that. What's upsetting is that this company is getting away with ripping people off like this. Making such a cheap product and not letting people know that it only lasts for 1 year. I paid $675 plus $60 for S&H for this range and I am totally disgusted with it. I am not well off so I had to seriously think about dropping this now or spending another $600 to extend the life of this piece of crap for another possible 5 years. As far as I'm concerned, anything that craps out after 1 year and then requires almost 1/2 the original cost to repair, with the possibility of extending its life for another 2 years, is not worth the effort. This must be how a compulsive gambler feels. Should I or shouldn't I? I have opted to cut my losses and change brands. I am still debating whether to take this to the Consumer Hotline segment of my local New Channel to expose this line of products.
Majic Chef Wine cooler
Received a Magic Chef wine cooler for a gift last year. All of the sudden it does not stay cold. Called Home Depot in Chandler, AZ and they referred me to Magic Chef. I do not have the receipt nor do the ones that purchased the cooler. Was told by Home Depot they could not help. Magic Chef said it is probably the compressor. ( Seems from your list of complaints that others have had problems with the same product. Perhaps they should have recalled the appliance.) A service call from an independent co. would be at $60 just to look in the compressor plus additional charge for probably a new compressor. Since this was not fault of mine, I feel Magic Chef should replace the appliance. Thank you

This MCCF5W (5 cu. ft) freezer was purchased from Home Depot a little over 4 years ago, and now has a bad thermostat. I was told by Magic Chef that this is a discontinued model, and that a replacement part will take 4 months to get. I hope all my frozen food lasts that long. Avoid this Chinese crap.
