Mod By Lawyers failed modification

We have been denied by our Mortgage Co. for a modification, that mod by lawyers was handling. We went to their office on 6/22/10, spoke with the person thats handling our account. He refered us over to the Attorney Mr Stewart. They said we did not supply all our information to them once we got a temporary modification, therfor we are not entititled to a refund. We did mail all information into their officel. We never heard from them after are temporary modification was approved. Now they are blaming us for not contacting them. So no Refund Mr. Stewart said to do what ever we have to do.

I paid $4000 to have them help us with a home remodification. They made it sound so good that we actually paid for it. As it turns out we were declined twice for the remodification and i'm still $4, ooo in the hole. This seems like fraud to me. I need help.

I have been denied 6 times, so today I asked for a refund after they again asked for all the paperwork to "refile." I repeated that I wanted my refund about 10 times. This guy actually gave me the silent treatment numerous times. I told him that I will explain what I want in person since he can't understand over the phone. I don't know if this was due to the language barrier, even though his supposed name is Brian Anderson... Yeah right. And we once had a Rex Reed. Give me a break, use your real names already. I will continue to ask them for my money even though my husband says I should give up. Please anyone else who is having problems with them, continue to ask for a refund. Maybe one of us can get a refund at some point.

It's been over 1 year and the only possitive thing I was able to do to get back at Mod By Lawyers, was to file a formal complaint with the BBB and get them a (F) rating . Lesson learned... READ, READ, READ contract before signing and DO NOT PAY UPFRONT MONIES.. Scammed $3500

Mod By Lawyers Loan Modification Rip Off

This company charged $5, 000 with statements of assurance that they would be able to negotiate a loan modification with my lender. They also stated that an attorney was needed to negotiate with the bank because lenders were not negotiating with borrowers, and only attorneys could complete a deal and create a new contract with the lender. Mod By Lawyers never called me to give me updates. I always had to call and check on the status of my file. I was ALWAYS told that they were talking to the lender but my file had not been assigned to a negotiator for the lender. This same or similar conversation went on for more than eight months. I have since asked for a refund by phone, but received no return calls. I made an appointment to meet with a representing attorney BRIAN TIMOTHY STUART (California Bar #207118). At our meeting date, Atty. Stuart showed me verbage in the the contract that I signed with his company that basically said if I did not let them know in writing that I wanted to sever my relationship with them, I would not be entiltled to a refund. However, there is also verbage in the contract that states if they do not provide me with services stated in the contract, I would be entilted to a 50% refund. Atty. Stuart agreed to discuss the matter with the company's owner, Atty. MAJID SAFAIE, and get back to me after their conversation and decision. I have yet to hear from Atty. Stuart.

Mod By Lawyers Failed service. No refund

This company has failed to perform a home loan modification for me. They also refuse to give me a refund.

I hired this company to peform a home loan modification for me over 10 months ago. I paid them $7000. They said they would use their lawyers to "negotiate" a loan modification for me. They said I would be "jumping for joy" by the time they were done, which would be in about 3 months.
Boy was I swindled. It's been over 10 months and still no loan modification.
Turns out "Mod by Lawyers" has little to do with lawyers. After speaking with some of their agents they told me "we are to busy to use lawyers on every case". This has left me very confused since the reason I hired this company was to have a lawyer negotiate a loan modification for me. What they actualy do is used hired hands to collect your papers then they just push them off to the bank. Thats it. No lawyers, no negotiating involved.
I could've done that myself. And I actually have done that myself with better results.
Also their customer service is HORRIBLE. They rarely called to give me status. I had to call them to ask what was going on with my case. Most of the time it was difficult to find the person who was on my case and once found they would ask for documents that I had already submitted to them. When I asked why they were so difficult to work with, they said " we are just
to busy to keep track". Ironically, it has been easier to work with the bank directly than it has been working with "Mod By Lawyers".
Sincerely, this has been the worst rip-off in my life.

Ye s, I posted the original message and I am real. I worked with Zee Rabadi, James and Sal. I even consulted a lawyer to get my money($7000) back from these con artists. Unfortunately, it turns out they got me because when you sign with them you are paying for services and no guarantee of a reasonable loan mod. So essentially, all they need to do is claim that they made a phone call to your lender and arranged a loan mod. and that is it. You can't do anything legal to them, besides fight them in court, which I can't afford.
******This company does nothing special to secure you a Loan Mod. that you can't do for yourself with a phone call to your lender***********
I will repeat.
******This company does nothing special to secure you a Loan Mod. that you can't do for yourself with a phone call to your lender***********

Trust me, I spent 8 months playing the round around with them and I ended up doing the loan mod. myself with the lender directly which turned out to be easier and was a success.

We paid them 4800.00 and they did nothing. Ultimately, my husband and I saved our home. When we learned that our home was not only in foreclosure, but had a sale date.. – THEY FAILED TO NOTIFY US. Paperwork for a loan modification had allegedly been submitted - once through Mod by Lawyers and when we realized they weren't doing anything, we started working with NACA. (By the way, prior to working with NACA we sent Mod by Lawyers a Demand Letter and they did not respond to it).

Fortunately for us, our mortgage company failed to respond to ANY paperwork. We notified (in writing) the President of our mortgage company and from that point on, worked only with our mortgage company who cancelled the sale and foreclosure.

I know I am only going through the motions right now by calling and requesting a refund but that is where I am right now. Someone was supposed to call me back yesterday by 5:00 p.m. and they didn't. I called them at about 5:30 p.m. and left a message on a voice mail for someone to call me today (7/28/10)-- they didn't. I called again today, the person I need to speak to is not in the office.

We still plan on taking them to Small Claims Court as well as filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Attorney General, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). For those of you thinking you cannot afford to sue them, the cost is from $30-$75 depending on your claim amount... that is nothing compared to what we paid these people. Please don't let them get away with this.

I am having the same results. I would LOVE to sue these idiots. I think they take your money then send your file to a company out of the country. They never return calls. Tell you not to worry, and say your file is "in review." I sent them documentation three times and each time they cannot find it. I have had six different agents in six months. They change agents and don't notify the client. They say they will call you and will not call. If you call and ask for your agent they are "on a break." oceangeo

We used there services as well we paid them over 3000 $ and it was over 8 months and they did nothing we eventually called the bank and learned that Mod By Lawyers did nothing they were waiting on paper work So I send them every thing they needed and finish the process my self. Over all my payment only got lowered by only a little over 50 bucks. This company is a rip off! I'm going to demand my money back will see how it goes. May we can all get together and Sue this company for our money back and all the stress we went through.

I heard ModbyLawyers and The Firm got raided by the FBI March 4. A friend of mine who worked there said the Feds took all the computers. Their website and 800 phone #s are down. I feel sorry for the poor homeowners who are hanging in limbo not knowing the bank is going to foreclose on their home.
