Scam
This is another of those websites that offers a product which, unknown to the buyer, automatically renews each year forever! When you try to cancel, the website is one big run around. Your better off to just cancel your credit card. This organization is offshore (Ireland) and therefore beyond the reach of US officials. Just spread the word after reading this.

For the past 3 weeks I've been fighting a 'spyware' battle with my PC. I've had "Spyware Doctor" installed for at least 6 months. I contacted them and after some early efforts and replies from them I still have the problem. I don't care how many times I scan...and how many times I 'Fix Problem' ...its still there.
At first I was informed by them to run my PC in safe mode...did it...no luck. Then I was told to run the "Malware Tool" and send them the results...did it...no luck. THEN I was told the problem would be solved via "Smart Update"...well I've "Smart Updated" for at least 10 days (3-4 times a day)...NO LUCK...nothing. Problems still exist.
Now their "Tech Group" doesnt' respond to me. BTW...I downloaded their (PC Tools) free version of "ThreatFire"...guess what? It found the problem! For $29.95 it will "Fix Problem"...ain't that sweet?..I think I've heard that before.

After discovering that they were still charging my creditcard for the software package I am not using anymore, I tried to access my account. Because the emailaddress of the account is no longer valid I tried to contact them. To my surprise they do not have any emailaddress to sent a message to without needing your account login.
So I tried to contact them through twitter. No response at all.
It is ridiculous to see that such a company can withhold a customer to access his account and keep silence.
I will reverse any creditcard withdraw from them and let them now through twitter.
I was registering at a company called Merchant Referral Solutions and up popped Spyware doctor. I was interested and clicked on it. I read the blurb and thought to buy it. I started filling out the form and realized the 3 computer price was already ticked off. I deleted the whole thing and closed it. It said today that I had a couple of thousand infections. I could use Spyware doctor to clean them up. I looked into buying it since I have so much already. I could not find a price anywhere. It appears that to find a price I have to click on I accept.
I apologize for the length of my annoyance H. J. Keever
The worst customer service I have experienced in YEARS. I attempted to renew this anti-spyware software WITHOUT the antivirus portion, which would have cost less than the subscription I currently had. It gave me no opportunity to change the price during the renewal process, and I foolishly purchased it and then attempted to correct the purchase. They ignored phone calls, emails, and finally kept me waiting for almost two hours until I got to talk to a customer service person, who after a total of about 20 minutes of keeping me on hold insisted that I start the process again. Any problems with Spyware Doctor? Just CANCEL it -- THAT took about 5 minutes -- then if you want, buy it again down the road.
I was infected with various spyware through the program, my email was affected and could not be accessed. All 3 PC's had to be formated.
I have submitted 8 requests to retrieve my lost code and have received nothing yet!
No problems from my end. I love PC Tools. There is a compliment board at complimentboard.com for new compliments as well.
I would agree 110%.
The PC Tool and the Spuware Doctor web site has absolutely NO technical Support. The program does not load, does not work, and the company does not answer email reqiests. The comapany does not provide any phone number at all.
I RECOMMEND all potential buyer to NOT purchase ANY products from the PC Tools. This comapny is a scam artist !

I ran Spyware Doctor for a year with no problem...then it came time to renew. So I clicked the renew button. The first thing it did was messed up the whole operating system. Gave us the blue screen of death. Operating system had to be reinstalled. So not suspecting Spyware Doctor as the culprit since it was good a year ago..I reattempt to renew. Well, after they took my 39.99 it won't accept license. So after numerous calls to support which are as good as nothing. I decide to try to purchase it outright instead of hitting renew (keep in mind I already spent 39.99) Bought it again...still would not work...so I call them as they say they have a 60 day return policy. So, they claim that they don't see the purchase of the 2nd one. So of course...credit card company is called and told if PC tools try to charge..deny it! So I go after them for the original 39.99 refund as per their buy safe guarantee, and lo and behold...they fall off the planet. NO REFUND, NO CONTACT! So I file a dispute with credit card who is now trying to go after PC Tools for my 39.99. It's a shame...last year the program worked and this year...its a scam...BEWARE!
Also, forgot to ad that when I attempt to contact them via the "Help" tab, I get: You are not a member! Say What? I sure was a member long enough for their company to take my friggin money...
While I'm no Computer Techy, I have to agree, I've had nothing but trouble with my New computer, since scanning with Spyware Doctor. I bought this "new" laptop due to the "somebody shot me" slowness of my desktop which was covered by Spyware Doctor. It has my computer running at 100% usage, pages flip where they want to, windows pop up that I wasn't even attempting to open & it just crashes, time after time...ALSO, THE SCAN IS NOW TAKING LITERALLY DAYS TO COMPLETE and in case you were wondering...I've defragged and deleted old, unused, temp files, emails etc. What am I supposed to do to correct this? I can't afford another security system at this time. This is rediculous (sp) I'm fed up, it has halted my use of Mozilla, so now I have to change over to Explorer again...wish I was a Techy, I'd have their "A" in a sling...legally speaking of course. Thanks for reading...I'm so frustrated, getting no work done and spending all day doing it.
I had a virus on my pc laptop (1 of 3 laptops i use). Nothing could clean it, so after reading some reviews by "reputable" PCmag, CNET, etc. about Spyware Doctor, I decided to try it .. it was "Free". After downloading and running scan it found some virus but would not delete until I purchase "registered" versions (scam #1) I did pay the money. Got three licenses. Downloaded and cleaned my machine pretty good. However shortly I got a virus again, i booted my other laptop (that was not infected...) and low and behold it was infected with same virus even though i had not used it nor turned it on since installing and running initial virus scan. I was going to use this laptop to surf the net for a remedy for the one i use running Spyware doctor. So now my backup clone laptop is infected also, so I fire up my third laptop and its got same virus. ( i use these for work, engineering programming, not games, videos, ringones, porn, bit-torrent or other likely activities that would cause infection). So I got three laptops each with newly installed Spyware Doctor Antivirus. Each had initial scan and found some infections and removed them, checked out clean afterwards. Two of the three laptops went back into computer cases for 1-2 weeks. Working laptop became infected...again. The two that were NOT used when powered on had the same viruses / highjack rouge softwares on them. Noticed this same "coincidence" on three more occasions. I spend more time fooling around with the Spyware Doctor Antivirus than I get done working!~~! When it is running it hogs so much ram that nothing else can run, it slows my PC down to being almost unusable ... until I exit out of the program, then it runs normal (fast).. shortly before becoming "infected" again - without any connection to the interenet! It is my conclusion that this software is incorporating "job security" function in it's software by generating these viruses!.. I'm gonna fix these then uninstall this crap of my machines! I've had nothing but trouble on / and / off for the past three months since installation. If finds them alright but not after letting a few more through the back door. I hope someone can prove this and burn them a new one in court!
I had install it on few machine in my life. All of them become unstable and some file were delete and make me oblige to fe-format my cumputer.
D'ont install this software.
i persanally believe thatspyware doctor has spyware built into the program i downloaded the trial version it said i had tons of spyware on my computer. i had a different paid program said i didnt have any spyware on it .W.T.F IF I WERE YOU I WOULDNT EVEN INSTALL THIS PROGRAM .I UNINSTALLED THIS SPYWARE DOCTOR AND IT STILL DOES FRIVOLOUS SCANS
Yes they also automatically charged my account and are refusing to credit me. I purchased it last July 2008 but after a few months I had enough of how slow it made my computer. Went to staples and purchased another program. In Nov. 2008 I dropped my computer while moving did not repair it and never used the computer again. I just received my bill from American Express today and saw the charge July 3, 2009. I called today and they told me because I didn't cancel with 30 days of the charge they can not refund me. I explained that I only became aware of the charge today.
They refused to work with me so I called American Express and have them looking into it...
Do not do business with this company you will regret it..
