TaxBrain Scam

When I say "WE" I mean we as in over 4, 000 and possibly up to 90, 000 people who filed our taxes using TaxBrain . For those of us who were in the first batch of returns (and now we're finding out possibly the second as well) that were transmitted to the IRS, we are in a horrible situation.

Long story short, TaxBrain used the wrong bank routing number on the returns. For everyone that had their filing fees taken out of their refund, the refund was supposed to go to SBBT/META to be deposited into our bank accounts. Unfortunately, TaxBrain used the routing number for Republic Bank and we're all sitting around with no answers. Our refunds were sent to Republic Bank last week, the 27th. TaxBrain made no attempt to notify us of this situation. As a matter of fact, when they realized the mistake, they tried to resubmit our returns to the IRS with the corrected routing number but of course they were rejected.

TaxBrain is giving us the runaround. We can't get a straight answer from ANYONE. TaxBrain, the IRS, Republic Bank, the Treasury, SBBT/META. The IRS agents are all completely dumbfounded when any of us call and try to explain the situation. We've been told we would receive a paper check anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks. We have no idea if or when we will receive this money.

What's even more alarming that is our Social Security Numbers, addresses, names and refund amounts were released to a third party that we did not authorize to have that information. Not only are we missing money, but our privacy has been compromised.

We've started a Yahoo group Taxbrainvictims2010 http://finance. groups.yahoo. com/group/ Taxbrainvictims2 010/ and have made a lot of progress in contacting the media and bringing this situation to light. Members have been able to stir some media interest and several stations have interviewed victims and posted stories.

We are getting NO cooperation from TaxBrain or the IRS. Not one soul can tell us where our money is or when we will receive it. We can make 10 different calls to the IRS and receive 10 different answers.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I don't particularly NEED my refund like so many do. I don't however, appreciate knowing that my personal information was sent to the wrong bank or that I have a significant amount of money floating around in financial outer space.

If there's any way you could shed some light on this or possibly even help us bring our case a little closer to the top, we would certainly appreciate it. The sheer number of people that this has impacted should be alarming without the compromise of our identity or the missing funds.

I filed my taxes on 1/16/10 with taxbrain after being a customer for 5 years. My money was supposed to go to there bank and then to mine in 8 to 14 days. that never happened and when I called taxbrain the told me it was SBBT faught because they did nothing wrong. The incompetent jerks put the wrong routing number on my form when routing to there bank to collect there fee's and routed to a bank they have no realationship with. Why can't they have that money transfered to and account in that bank set up for Taxbrain and send me my money. My mortgage co was waiting for that money.I needed to make the last two payments on my vehicle or they gonna send the tow truck after it. The IRS needs to fine TAXBAIN BIG time for this serious blunder which could change the lives of at least 4000 people. Taxbrain should be on the phone with the bank in kentucky trying to work out something yesterday. If I loose my house over this, I will see taxbrain in court for breach of there contract.

I've used Taxbrain for 4 years and have highly recommended them to many people but this years experience has changed all that.
I'm one of the thousands whose money was sent to the wrong bank. I check with the IRS customer svce rep who said my refund had been deposited on 26th of January but no one could tell me why I hadnt recieve it as of Feb 1st. If taxbrain had admitted the mistake earlier I think I would've been able to forgive & move on but they waited over a week with no info at all and then sent out emails to make it look like as if the IRS was at fault. Imagine all these disgruntle taxpayers calling the IRS. I'm sadly disappointed because I was waiting funds to help pay for vendors for my wedding in June. I will never use their services again!

I absolutely am ticked off with taxbrain . They misplaced my money along with 4000 other peoples money. Absolutely unacceptable. Let me break it down and tell ya'll exactly what happened so i hope i can encourage you to NOT use taxbrain. All tax returns filed with taxbrain from January 15-17 who wanted there refund returned to them via direct deposit were misplaced. I did NOT have a RAL, thank god because then the bank would be breathing down my neck right about now. My and 4000 other taxbrain customers money was direct deposited into Republic Bank instead of Metabank formerly known as Santa Barbara Bank and Trust. So now as a result of them loosing my money, Republic bank sent my money back to the IRS, and because of their security purposes, I have no choice but to have a paper check mailed to me. The biggest crock I have heard in a while. I am encouraging everyone who does taxes not to use them. Never know, next time money might get misplaced to Iran or Korea and then we might not even get a damn refund...to all my fellows who are in the same spot as me...I feel your pain. I agree lets do CNN and keep em honest !
