Verified by Visa is unreliable, but they can you some damage and put you through a lot of inconvenience. If you finally find the customer service number, it is utterly useless. An agent will simply tell you that they can't help you. In my case, I tried to make an online payment, one which used verified by visa. I input the correct numbers, but they were...

Verified by Visa This is a very bad business practice

Today I went to pay my VZW Bill online and I was prompted for ' Verified by Visa " to enter my password or if you click on the "I don't have one' it makes you sign up. This is NOT something that Verizon should have any control over. You (Verizon) do not get the right to decided how I set up my bank account. I have called Wells Fargo and they have stated that merchants have the option to participate in this program but should NOT be MAKING anyone sign up. Verizon has no right to dictate or have control how MY Bank account is set up. This is a very bad business practice. I understand that it is to promote security online HOWEVER, that is not your call to make!

Thanks. Verified by Visa can cause you tremendous trouble and they offer absolutely NO customer service. They make errors that can disable your card, and they themselves can do nothing to correct things. Avoid if possible. Unfortunately, as you've found out, there's a great deal of bullying going on. And no accountability.

Verified by Visa They can not care less about the inconvenience of the service for the customer

The system is a joke for members of the public who pay online. I religiously record all my passwords, but verified by visa has this ridiculous automatic lock out if you don't use it every 30 days.

This lock out is either a) supposed to encourage you to use your card more regularly (I wont) and b)discourage fraudsters. It may well help in the later, but visa, like so many companies of their ilk, clearly couldn't care less about the inconvenience of the service for the customer. Complete rubbish.

Verified by Visa is more frustrating than most people here realize. I just tried to make an online payment that was stopped by VbV, even though all the numbers were input correctly. The screen informed me that the payment was not processed and that my card is now locked. It tells me to call my bank. I do. It turns out a glitch has developed at VbV with accepting the security codes from all cards issued by my bank. They hope to fix it within a week. The bank tells me that they have not locked my card, and that I should call Visa. Visa tells me that I must call VbV, and they give me the number. VbV tells me, essentially, that they don't do customer service and are not in business to help me. They deal with my bank. Deeply unsatisfactory and angering. I will do everything I can to avoid ever having to use VbV again as long as there is an alternative. I can usually find one. For International payments for very specific things, it's hard to find an alternative though. And BTW, I am now down $75 for a late registration penalty for a conference. Think there's a chance VbV will help me with that?

Verified by Visa I regret having business with them

I had just finished purchasing a plane ticket, or so I thought, when the Verified by Visa enrollment page popped up. I mean, I'd hit the button that completes the transaction at the airline's site, so it should have been a done deal, right? Not so. Once the Verified by Visa enrollment page popped up, I couldn't get out of the screen. I couldn't go back to the airline's page, I couldn't bypass Verified by Visa in any way. And I couldn't, it turns out, complete the credit card transaction. At first, I thought it was spam or something illegal and dangerous. It felt like I was being held hostage by Verified by Visa. Is it legal for a company to enter into what is a near-complete transaction and hijack it like this? The ONLY, and I mean ONLY way I could complete the transaction was to enroll in their program that I have absolutely NO interest in. If they treat potential customers so rudely by hijacking their credit card transactions, my thought is that you're not likely to be treated any better once you're a customer. While I was researching how to get around this screen, how to opt-out, how to just finish my transaction, about 15 minutes passed. . .and since I really needed to book this plane ticket, I ended up just signing up for this stupid program--and here's the best part--so much time had passed that the airline's site was "too busy to take my reservation" (or something such). So not only was I forced to enroll in a program I do not want, I also lost my reservation. Nice work, Verified by Visa.
