My son was in need of some mental health help. Sept. 21, 2023 I called S.T.D. to report that I needed an absence from work. My son did 2 evaluations on the 21st & ended up going to psych care cuz he wanted to commit suicide. went back to work on Sept. 22nd even though I thought I was approved, because I was told that by Sedgwick representative. I extended with Sedgwick until Sept.27th since I wouldn’t know my son’s situation for a few days at least. I was suspended from my job on Sept. 22nd & told they would let me know when I could return. It wasn’t Oct. 20, 2023 that I received a letter from Sedgwick, the letter dated Oct.18 that their finding was: the certification they received doesn’t support my absence as qualifying for FMLA. I faxed his in patient Dr. twice her side of the paperwork which she never signed or sent back. I received a phone message from my job prior to that stating I couldn’t return to work until the Sedgwick ordeal was resolved. I then received a letter from my employer Oct. 20 stating since I didn’t provide the paperwork from Sedgwick so I was terminated. Fast forward to me trying to collect unemployment & they said I quit my job & didn’t qualify. Around $3,000 that should’ve been mine until I could find other unemployment but because of Sedgwick’s original denial ? my job ended up getting terminated, I was denied unemployment & am currently still looking for work. Claim number: 4A2309NNVJT0001GI. I now have to interview with employers that I quit a job which I didn’t.
Desired outcome: Make this right with my employer. I deserve to have my unemployment & my name cleared with my old job. I’ve never been done this way by Sedgwick.
