Attempted Fraud
I was communicating with a woman from Austin, Texas who was wooing me. After a couple of days I began to "smell a rat." I would like to tell you what I know about the attempted fraud which I have avoided. I am sure I am not the only one who has been duped. Your phone is always bizzy. This is very fresh data, which I hope you can use.

membership
I joined Silver Singles this month and paid for a 3-month membership. I had difficultly logging on and sending messages. I contacted the service for help. Two people have now told me they received notices from the service identifying me as a "potential scammer" and my membership has been terminated. Why? I am not a scammer. I need to speak to someone about this.

I want to cancel my membership, but you are making this virtually impossible! No operable phone number, no option’s that work on your website. I was never asked if I wanted to sign up for auto renewal. Just put there! I do seriously not want to remain a member! Please remove me immediately! If you don’t I will contact my account, and block your charges ! If that doesn’t work, you will hear from my lawyer! I am done dealing with you scam artists!
Desired outcome: Cancellation!!!!

I want my entire funds from the renewal returned.
They took out a renewal when I had turned it off. This is not my first rodeo. On 8/23 subscribed to silver singles. On 9/8/2023, 2 weeks approx before auto renewal I turned it off on the site. The night before Renewal day 9/22/2023 I checked the site to make sure auto renewal was off and it was. On 9/23, the subscription ran on but nothing charged to my account. On 9/24 approx noon when I checked bank account and there was a renewal withdrawal from Silver singles at 11 am it showed the money going back into my account. I'm thinking OK they caught their mistake. I did not go on the site 9/25. On 9/26 I saw the site was 3 days past the renewal date I saw the site was still operating as if I had a subscription. I check my bank and I see they took out the auto renewal fee from my bank account earlier on 9/26. Yheir site showed the money was withdrawn on 9/24, a Sunday electronically. I make my first attempt to call the phone number provided on the site. "It was not in service". I tried to contact via there site CS dept. 1 of the fill in spots was category whic had 3 different categories I put subscription in that box next was description and filled in this complete accounting and I submitted their form. However it did not go thru and a box outlined in red said I needed to enter something in the category box which was still readi their choice of subscription. However the next 3 hours worked out, I tried 4 more attempts having to refill out a description just as I'm doing here. Still the same oops in the red outlined box would appear. Being I use paypal which is linked to my bank. I go to paypal which showed a Sparks network contact us page the same as silver singles had. On that page it showed the transaction in question but on this page the predated to 9/23 even though my paypal showed 9/24 when they took out the withdrawal. I have opened a dispute with paypal but have to wait almost 3 weeks to get a ruling on my dispute
What gets me is they had to manually go in and change the entry date. They did it both on their site page and the sparks network page in paypal Paypal at least shows the accurate date of 9/25 when they made the transaction through my bank. Now you see why I use paypal instead of putting my banking info online. They act as a 3rd party and give assurances by doing they request for funds returned from sparks network/ silver singles. After reading many reviews that sparks network has pissed of many people doing the exact same thing of over riding the No Auto renewal to auto renewal ON and are justified withdrawing from the funding source account. Problem becomes obvious to see with 4 different transaction on 3 different dates. How the hell are they still in business. A phone number to customer service being out of service. Then not recognizing an input on their complaint form. This is an intentional scam site. They know these things don't work, all in an attempt to defraud people who subscribe because they want to pursue what their service provides just to meet a companion. This being a senior dating site makes it worse.. I would like to see the owners get put in jail for ongoing fraud.
This is not just me but everyone they have used ILLEGAL means to perpetuate their attempts to defraud people, when the people want to find companionship. Here is another kicker me using this forum I get asked if my statements are true and not misleading in anyway. But they can operate an Internet business using misleading/ illegal methods to intentionally fraud the people wanting companionship. That is really a joke. Greed is showing up everywhere and it will bring down Internet Commerce.
Desired outcome: Sparks network pay reparations for the time and frustration of customers to get their money.9
unable to log into site
I am a new member. I have a VPN on my phone and computer. Because of this, every time I try to log in I receive a blank page with typing at the top that says
"known VPN user." and I am unable to log in, even if the VPN is turned off. If this cannot be resolved, I would like a full refund. I just signed up a week ago and this has been occurring ever since.
Desired outcome: Fix the problem
SilverSingles Review: A Total Waste of Time and Money - Don't Bother!
I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with SilverSingles. I thought it would be a great way to meet some new people in my age range, but it's been a total waste of money. I mean, my profile is super simple - I just want someone who's 5'9" or taller, within a 50 mile radius, and between the ages of 70 and 79. But apparently that's too much to ask for.
Out of the supposed 200 matches I've gotten in the past two months, less than 5% have even come close to meeting my criteria. Most of them are over 100 miles away, not even in my state! And don't even get me started on the height and age discrepancies. It's like they're not even trying.
And to top it all off, every single match I've gotten in the past month has had "NO PHOTO" attached to it. When I contacted customer service (if you can even call it that), they just gave me the runaround and said it was something on my end. I even paid $200 for an IT person to come out and check my PC and iPad app, and they determined it was SilverSingles' platform that was the problem. But when I told customer service this, they just brushed me off and said it wasn't their issue. So now I'm stuck with matches that don't fit my requirements and don't even have a photo to go off of.
It's like they're just playing a numbers game - send you as many matches as possible and hope that some of them stick. And if you want more, you have to pay for it. It's a total scam.
Their customer service is a joke too. They should change their name to "It's your problem, don't bother us." You can never reach anyone and their answers are always canned and unhelpful. I've never had this problem with Match.com.
Honestly, I'm so fed up that I'm considering getting American Express involved. This feels like fraud or false advertising to me. I give SilverSingles a big fat 0 rating. Don't waste your time or money on this site.
SilverSingles: Not the Best Fit for Urban, Educated, and Liberal Singles
I enrolled at SilverSingles for a month-long membership, hoping to find someone compatible with my beliefs and preferences. After joining, I queried customer service to confirm whether my standards align with their demographic, only to be treated rudely by a disinterested representative who acted bored with my request for information. Nonetheless, I determined to match with someone with similar tastes, setting my preferences in a practical and candid manner. I found myself waiting for someone to respond, but to no avail. For five days, I remained on the site, but no one seems to be suitable for me. None of the people in the matches satisfied my criteria. People sent my way were from far-off places, were conservative and religious, thoroughly divergent from my perspective. I contacted customer service once again, and this time, a much nicer person responded. However, they suggested I should be more liberal with my preferences. I disagreed, as my standards were straightforward and specific. I cancelled my subscription to prevent auto-renewal, and to request a refund, which was promptly denied. The support that suggested the platform was for senior singles didn't always perform as promised. My preferences made it challenging, and I felt robbed of my money and time spent on constructing my profile. With this experience, I felt that it was not a great fit for singles looking for urban, educated, and liberal relationships.
A Disappointing Experience with SilverSingles
I recently tried out SilverSingles (silversingles.com) and unfortunately, I have a lot of complaints about the experience. One of the biggest issues is the lack of customer support available. After signing up and paying for the service, it was impossible to get in touch with a real person to discuss any problems or concerns I had. Even sending an email went unanswered, which was incredibly frustrating and left me feeling like my investment in the site was wasted.
Another issue I encountered were the preferences that users are asked to fill out when searching for matches. While it's helpful in theory to select criteria that are important to you, such as geographic distance, it seems that the site doesn't always take those choices into account. For example, I initially selected a max distance of 100 miles but found that many of the matches I was receiving were actually much further away than that. When I adjusted my preferences to emphasize a shorter distance, I still didn't see any improvement in the accuracy of my matches.
To make matters worse, many of the profiles I was matched with had no photos and gave no indication of compatibility based on shared interests or values. It felt like I was being bombarded with random profiles that didn't match my preferences in any way. And to top it off, I encountered several scam artists posing as potential matches. One person claimed to be in love with me after a brief phone call, while another said they were located 144 miles away from me but then revealed they were actually in Kuwait trying to start a business.
Overall, I would caution anyone from using SilverSingles. While the site has potential, it falls short in several key areas such as customer service, accuracy of matches, and security against scams. If you're considering using this service, I recommend doing extensive research and reading reviews from other users to fully understand the risks and limitations. In my opinion, it's better to spend your money elsewhere and find a more trustworthy and effective dating site.
SilverSingles Review: Expensive, Scammers, and Poor User Experience
Having tried several dating sites over the years, I have had varying degrees of success when it comes to finding a partner. However, my experience with SilverSingles has been a little different. Despite using the site for some time, I haven't met anyone yet. This is mainly due to the fact that it's quite difficult to communicate or see profiles without paying a hefty sum. In fact, initially, the site asks for an exorbitant amount of money (like $129 a month), which is quite off-putting. However, when I declined, they eventually offered me membership for 75% off. While it was a reasonable offer, it still didn't feel particularly cheap for what they provide. The costs range from $60 for one month to about $100 for three months, and a yearly package for just shy of $200. Additionally, there is an option for coaching, which is an extra $200 fee.
Of the two people who contacted me, the site claimed that they were scammers after I had already cancelled my membership and gave my telephone number to them before leaving. One never reached out to me personally, and the other seemed like a scammer. I also found that when I sent several smiles to suggested matches, all I got back were rejection letters. One thing that particularly irked me was that one can't tell who likes you on this site. The only section on the app that shows mutual matches rarely worked for me, even in three months of usage.
The site was difficult to navigate, and you couldn't search on your own; you could only respond to the suggested matches, many of which didn't match my preferences. What's more, with their editing, your photos would mostly show facial close-ups. To top it all off, the site frequently froze, which made the whole experience even more frustrating.
In conclusion, I found that the site was quite expensive and more concerned about taking my money than providing a quality experience and service. It's not user-friendly, not conducive to making connections, has scammers on it, and seems to have few true active members. Honestly, it was a waste of my time and money, and I wouldn't recommend it.
SilverSingles Review: Disappointing Matches, Frustrating Subscription, and Time Wasted on Irrelevant Profiles
Six months ago, I joined SilverSingles with the hopes of finding a potential partner to establish a long-term relationship. Unfortunately, my experience using this dating site was less than satisfactory. Despite setting a 50-mile limit, a large percentage of my matches were located in states far beyond my area, including North Carolina, Texas, Nebraska, Illinois, and more. As an 81-year-old living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area, it was absurd to receive matches so far away. This made connecting with potential matches virtually impossible.
Furthermore, the few matches that I did receive weren't very relevant or compatible with my interests, needs, and personality. It was disappointing and frustrating to continually feel like I was wasting my time scrolling through matches that weren't even in my vicinity.
Perhaps the worst part of my experience was attempting to cancel my subscription. Despite being computer literate for over 50 years, I found it nearly impossible to find information on how to cancel my subscription through SilverSingles' website or online searches. I was ultimately forced to contact my credit card company to receive credit for the charges that SilverSingles illegitimately placed on my account. This experience was incredibly frustrating and time consuming, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it.
In summary, I caution anyone considering SilverSingles to be very careful before subscribing to the site. Based on my experience and the experiences of several women I've talked to, I don't feel confident that this site is worth the time, effort, or money invested in it.
Review of SilverSingles: Quality of Matches Could Be Improved, Gender Ratio Favors Women
I recently registered on SilverSingles and took the time to complete the profile questions and upload a few photos. I made sure my profile was specific about the type of relationship I am looking for. To my dismay, I noticed that I was receiving matches from men who had not taken the time to answer any of the questions. It was confusing to me as to why someone would be considered a match when their profile was incomplete. I am seriously looking for a permanent and romantic relationship, yet, I received a match from someone who was just looking for casual fun. I feel that SilverSingles should pay more attention to the quality of the matches they send out.
In terms of the gender ratio, I noticed that there were more women than men registered on the site. This can make it tough for someone who is looking to connect with someone of the opposite sex. Even when I took the time to write thoughtful messages to some of my suggested matches, I was met with silence. It can be disheartening to put yourself out there and not receive any response. I wrote to three people and didn't receive a single response - not even a "thank you for your message". It definitely made me wonder if there's something wrong with my profile, or if the lack of response is based on the gender ratio.
Overall, while I appreciated the easy-to-use interface and the opportunity to find like-minded individuals, I did find myself frustrated at times with SilverSingles' matching system. I hope that in the future they can refine their system to ensure that better quality matches are being sent to their users.
Review: SilverSingles fails to prioritize user security, leaving me vulnerable and violated
As a human being who values authenticity and confidentiality, my experience with SilverSingles has been far from satisfactory. Unfortunately, my messages with potential matches were hacked, compromising my privacy and security. Despite taking caution in communicating only with men within my area and even sharing my phone number with one of them that I had built rapport with, someone with a phone number from Atlanta managed to intercept our messages and pose as the guy I was regularly talking to. The tone of the messages were suspicious and alarming, so the conversation ended abruptly.
Feeling violated and concerned, I contacted SilverSingles to report the incident and seek some form of remedy. However, I was met with a lack of acknowledgement and assistance from the company. They refused to acknowledge or take responsibility for the security breach that occurred on their site, leaving me vulnerable and exposed as a user. Moreover, they refused to issue a refund, further worsening the situation.
To make matters worse, the gentleman I had connected with on the site informed me that he had tried to warn me about my account being hacked, but I never received his messages as they were also intercepted. He reported that he received several messages telling him that my account was closed every time he attempted to contact me.
It wasn't until a week later that my account reappeared as active, and the gentleman was able to message me again. I only realized then that some of the messages I had previously received were not written by him, but rather by the hacker in question.
To say that I am angry and upset about this experience is an understatement. The safety and security of users should be a top priority for any dating site, and SilverSingles has fallen short of meeting this standard. I no longer feel safe using their site and strongly urge others to think twice before signing up for their services.
Beware: My Terrible Experience with SilverSingles
If you're considering SilverSingles (silversingles.com) as a potential dating platform for finding a romantic partner, you might want to think again. My experience with this site has been nothing short of terrible. I signed up for their premium membership, paying over $167 for a six-month subscription, but all I got in return after less than 24 hours were scammers constantly trying to phish for my personal information. It's infuriating that these people are able to operate so easily on the site, and there doesn't seem to be any real effort from SilverSingles to keep them at bay.
When I tried to get a refund, the company was uncooperative and slow to respond to my requests. However, I'm cautiously optimistic as they downgraded my membership to the "free" status and sent me an email saying they are processing a refund. I haven't received the money yet, but fingers crossed.
Unfortunately, this isn't the only issue with SilverSingles. Their safety measures seem quite weak as they don't perform any screening to prevent scammers from creating accounts and don't even show them as matches on the platform. That means you can expect dozens upon dozens of fake member emails in both your site messages and personal inbox without any warning. It's not only frustrating but also a huge waste of time.
Comparing this platform to other dating services I've used before, free ones included, SilverSingles is by far the worst. To make matters worse, the company is based in Berlin, Germany, which makes the refund process even more challenging. In summary, avoid SilverSingles like the plague, and save yourself the headache and wasted money.
SilverSingles Review: Poor User Experience & Customer Service, Beware of Hidden Pricing
SilverSingles has a lot of work to do when it comes to user experience and customer service. Their website does not include any information regarding pricing until after creating an account, which can be frustrating and misleading for potential users. Additionally, trying to delete an account proved to be excessively difficult. The password reset system did not work, and telephone support ended up becoming a nightmare. A female representative contacted the reviewer, but refused to give her name or the name of the company. She then proceeded to ask a series of personal questions before inexplicably hanging up on the user. When the user received a second phone call, the same woman asked for her phone number without even offering to help delete the account. She then stated that deleting the account was impossible, despite the user's explicit request to do so. This blatant disregard for customer satisfaction is completely unacceptable. It is recommended that potential users look elsewhere for a reputable dating site with more user-friendly policies and helpful customer support.
Disappointing Experience on SilverSingles: Fake Accounts, Poor Matching Algorithm, Difficulty Canceling Membership
I recently joined SilverSingles for a second time, hoping to meet someone special. However, I have been disappointed with my experience thus far. I've received a number of "matches" and "smiles" from seemingly fake accounts with little to no information on their profile - some with just a single blurry photo. I strongly suspect some of these pictures are from stock photography sites. Despite the lack of details, SilverSingles gives them a high compatibility score with me.
I also had a difficult time canceling my membership - I had to hold on the phone for 45 minutes.
To make matters worse, some of the profiles initiating conversations with me seem to only have nefarious intentions. They often immediately try to move the conversation to a private email and start asking for personal information. Not only that, but their IP address reveals they're located far from me, sometimes even cross-country.
It's frustrating that SilverSingles also seems to frequently miss the mark on matching you with someone close by. For example, I came across a profile of a woman named Beth who was supposedly located just a few miles away from me. A quick reverse image search, however, revealed that her photos are easily found on the internet and belong to a UK-based fashionista/presenter.
All in all, my experience with SilverSingles has been lackluster at best. I am disappointed with the number of fake profiles and the difficulty in canceling my membership. I hope that they can improve their matching algorithm and work to eliminate these fake accounts in the future.
My Disappointing Experience with SilverSingles: Poor Matches, Ghosting, Customer Service Woes
Upon signing up for SilverSingles, I was quite excited to embark on my online dating journey. However, as time passed, I began to feel more and more disappointed with my experience. Despite selecting my preferences for matches, none of the suggested profiles seemed to align with my interests or desires.
Frustratingly, even the few people who reached out to me only engaged in conversation for a mere two days before ghosting me. Additionally, most profiles did not have photos, and many members failed to respond to requests for photos.
When I decided to cancel my membership, I found it impossible to do so online. After some searching, I finally found a customer service number and spoke with a man named Daniel who claimed their server was down and he could not access my account. He instructed me to purchase a Silversingles card from my nearest grocery store or convenience store to receive the authorization code for my refund. This was incredibly bizarre and even more frustrating as there is no such card in existence. When I informed Daniel of this fact, he became irritable and suggested I should have called him earlier so he could have told me which card to purchase.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the SilverSingles experience. The lack of quality matches, communication among members, and customer service left much to be desired. Despite my frustrations, I hope others have a better experience and find love through other dating platforms.
Disappointing Experience with SilverSingles: Beware of Hidden Charges and Ineffective Preferences
The experience with SilverSingles, unfortunately, did not meet the expectations of this reviewer. Firstly, it is advertised that users pay on a monthly basis, but it came to light that those who accidentally join the platform can be charged for a full year. Additionally, there is an automatic renewal policy in effect, which may come as a surprise to some users. One possible cause for accidentally joining the platform can be attributed to the PayPal process. Although PayPal usually doesn't charge anything until authorized, this was not the case with SilverSingles. After completing a significant amount of personal profile information, the user realizes they can no longer go back and only have the ability to go through - resulting in being charged for a full year instead of the advertised monthly payment.
Further struggles with the platform include the apparent inability to specify preferences effectively, as the settings revert to defaults that do not suit the user's interests. For instance, despite selecting preferences such as a minimum height requirement, the site keeps defaulting to 5'6". There was no option to specify the aversion to any physical trait. This made it challenging to find a suitable match and resulted in many uninteresting matches hassle.
The overall experience suggests that one should avoid SilverSingles if they want a more personalized and predictable online dating experience.
Disappointing Experience with SilverSingles: Inaccurate Profile, Lack of Quality Matches, and Frustrating Customer Service
As someone who has tried several dating sites, I was excited to give SilverSingles a try. However, my experience was far from enjoyable. In fact, it was quite frustrating. After setting up my account, which included an extensive personality test, I quickly realized that the results were wildly inaccurate. I was described as "extremely laid back" and someone who is frequently late, even though I am anything but. As I tried to upload a full-body photo of myself, I found that it was inexplicably cropped into a head shot.
My frustration continued as I attempted to narrow my matches by specifying my desired parameters for distance, age, and other preferences. Despite my efforts, the site consistently overrode my settings. When I tried to edit or revise my profile or change my pictures, I was forced to endure a lengthy "review" process that often delayed any updates for several hours.
But perhaps the most disappointing aspect of my SilverSingles experience was the complete lack of quality matches. I received only three messages in total, all of which were merely "smiles" or flirts. And the men who were sending these messages were not exactly my type; in fact, many of them looked downright shabby and unkempt. As a working professional with a graduate degree, I expected more from a site that claims to cater to serious daters.
Unfortunately, when I attempted to contact customer service to express my concerns, I was met with a frustratingly slow response time. After just two days of using SilverSingles, I decided to cancel my subscription and move on to other dating sites that were more user-friendly and effective.
Silversingles.com Review: Scammers, Unfair Advantage for Free Users, and Poor Customer Service
After trying out Silversingles.com for a period of nine long months, I must say that I was left feeling disappointed by the overall experience. First and foremost, there was a significant issue with the number of scammers flooding the platform. It was disheartening to find that a lot of these scammers were able to send "smiles" for free, and even post pictures with their email and phone contact details splattered across their faces. While the company acknowledged that this was an issue, they maintained that it was just an unfortunate part of the business - a rather unsatisfactory response.
Moreover, what I found even more unjust was that as a paying member, I had to contend with the incessant presence of these scammers while free users were given the liberty to interact with ease. I believe that legitimate members should have the option to prevent free users from accessing their profile, or at least, have a sample database that doesn't allow interactions.
Another frustrating aspect of this platform was the fact that profiles weren't approved before they were posted, leaving it up to the paid members to sort through and report fake and scam profiles. To make matters worse, the reporting feature was only available when a user received a message from the scammer. For "smiles," it was impossible to report such profiles, resulting in an unfair advantage for scammers.
When I took the initiative to send emails that I received from fake profiles to customer service for their review, the sheer volume of these emails ultimately annoyed their customer service representatives. This resulted in a message from them that my account would be canceled, which was surprising and disheartening considering I had nine months left on my membership.
Lastly, I was disappointed that I was not given the monthly subscription that I had signed up for, but instead was billed for six months. Overall, I would advise finding another dating app than Silversingles.com, as the level of customer satisfaction is not up to par with what one would expect.
Disappointing Experience on SilverSingles: Proceed with Caution
I initially joined SilverSingles (silversingles.com) with high hopes after hearing that it catered to mature seniors seeking meaningful connections. Unfortunately, my experience has left me feeling nothing but disappointed and annoyed. Despite keeping an open mind and dedicating several months to this site, I now warn others to proceed with caution.
My first red flag came when a man tried to lure me off-site by claiming his non-member friend saw my profile and lived near me. He provided the friend's email address and encouraged me to reach out. This was a clear violation of the platform's rules, and I was quick to report it. However, my frustration only grew when another user presented himself as a highly-educated and compatible match, suggesting we arrange a weekend meet-up. He even referenced a creepy term from the 'Urban Dictionary' - a clear warning sign. Despite multiple complaints, this individual is still active on the site.
While the name 'Silver Singles' may seem endearing, my experience has been anything but. I highly advise others to think twice before joining this platform, as the risks and disappointments outweigh any potential benefits.
