This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I was promised a vacation package to Florida with an outstanding deal on 3-7 magazines. The order was placed in June 2007 and I have not received anything from the company as of October 15, 2007. I attempted to cancel the order but the female representative stated that I cannot cancel the order and I am locked in a 5 year contract. The company has my credit card information, which all of my credit cards were canceled per my request. A formal complaint is being filed with the Minnesota Attorney General's Office and my complaint will be submitted to all major news agencies within Minnesota, including but not limited to, television news, newspaper news, radio broadcasting and the internet. A civil lawsuit is pending.

I went to an interview in Moultrie, GA with the company Southern Magazine Promotions. During the interview, I was asked to read a message that I would be repeating to every potential customer that I would be calling if hired as a phone solicitor. First off, the ad that I answered did not mention that the job opening was for phone solicitor. Secondly, the script I was to recite to people over the phone I could tell was a direct lie. I was to indicate excitingly to each person I would call that they had won a sweepstakes, and would be receiving a prize. How could EVERY person be a winner of the same sweepstakes? My honest openion is that it's an outright unjust lie they ask their employees to tell to each person they call. I honestly think the company should be shut down completely, as well as prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I refuse to work for them in that manner.

Oh yes... The work atmosphere inside where the phone solicitors were working had loud absurd sexual music playing when I entered the building for the initial application. Also when I went back for the interview I heard some of the solicitors laughing and making jokes about the reactions of the people they had solicited on the phone. Unless the laws have changed recently, phone soliciting IS illegal unless the person has mailed in a request for information, so how does Southern Magazine Promotions get away with such. If a class action lawsuit is started against such phone soliciting companies, I am all for it.

SOURTHERN MAGAZINE PROMOTIONS****IS FRAUD****

Some lady named: CARY/CARRIE/CARRY *i am not for sure how she spelled it, but she called me saying to me that i was selected to be one of the finalist for a drawling, all i had a to is ver. my credit card number and then i would go on into the next drawling, then she asked me if, i would like a magazine i said no i do not want any magazines or my card to be used for any other purchase, i told her if anything shows up on my bill i will dispute it and i did put a hold on my card that day cause something just did not seem right to me after the phone call was over... she used a phone number which is based out of *GA* i tryed to call her back and talk to her but all it was a message i was getting saying hi you have reached my desk this is carry leave a message.. her number is #[protected], which she never answered but this is how it all started

you people are crazy duh...if you talk to a sales rep over the phone and they tell you about the promotion you have all the power to say "im not intrested "or "i dont read magazines "or simply hang up.its not that hard...if you get on the phone the supervisors there job is to establish a monthly billing for a package that you ordered and yes'd the sales rep to.well...obviously if they ask for your credit card number right there should tell you YES...YOUR GETTING BILLED FOR SOMETHING. so just take a minute to think and stop being so dumb

Okay folks, I work for Southern Magazine Promotions and I'll clear all this up for you right now. We are an accredited company who sponsors a sweepstakes. What we are offering is a promotion that includes a legitimate package consitsting of 3 free monthy magazines for 60 months, along with a voucher for a free 3 day, 2 night vacation to your choice of over 88 participating resorts throughout the USA = IF YOU TAKE OUR ONE WEEKLY PUBLICATION at the discounted rate. So yes, this is something that will cost you something.

But no, we are not pushing this on anyone. We are not scamming anyone. We are not lieing to anyone. We explain everything very clearly. Being in the sweepstakes is NOT contingent on participating in the promotion. The promotion is merely our way of supporting our sponsorship. And it is a legitimate promotion. You DO receive the magazines, you DO receive the vacation voucher, and you CAN cancel your subscription by calling the customer service number.

NO we do not steal your credit card information magically over the phone. You actually have to agree to the promotion and want to receive it, then GIVE us your credit card number in order to obtain it. There is no voodoo going on here. And I agree with the last person's post. If you are not interested, simply let us know. We only would like to offer our promotion to people who are interested. Thank you. And remember ** Be nice to telemarketers, they are people too **

I myself agree with the last couple post. U must give your credit card to the ''solictors'' (which is there job in these hard ecomonmical times) just like anyone else people have to work to feed their families. The only thing you simple do is just tell them your not interested instead of giving your card. I did order from them also and it did take a liltte longer than they told me it would but i did take my vacacation and the man told me that the promotion is sponsored by the publishers and that is why the one magazine is important to go along with to take that vacation that is asked for my help with so it if i was to go and buy these magazines it woulk cost way way more than just for the shipping and processing and then the plus is that I do get to take that vacation, so in short it is worth it to me . I just don't understand how anyone could give out their card without knowing what their getting it reminds me of a family member of mine who thought everything (thinks) everything in life is free. Its not, but sometimes, someone, cuts you a break.

I got sucked into the free vacatoin thing too but i took actions to get all of my money back this is what i did:

1st. I filed a police report (they more then likely can't do anything but you can use the info for your bank)

2nd. I went to my bank and had them fill out papers for fraud, they did an investigation and i also gave them a copy of the police report.

3rd. I ended up gettin all my money back in less then a week

So see there are ways to cancell you subscription and still get all your money back. These people need to be stopped. All of their fast talking and promises are crap. So that is what i did hope it helps you all.
