I want to share my deeply disappointing experience with Sunshine Siberians and its owner, Micah Thompson, to warn others about her unethical practices. Unfortunately, she is not to be trusted and is deceptive in how she represents her cats.

When we first spoke with Micah, she said all the right things, presenting herself as a responsible breeder and a good Christian woman. However, once we received our cat, we quickly realized that we had been misled.

Micah told us that our cat was one year old and highly socialized, but after bringing her home and taking her to the vet, we discovered she was actually two years old, had very little immunizations, and was underweight. The cat was terrified, not at all the well-adjusted companion we had been promised.

One of the most alarming aspects of our experience was the way Micah handled the drop-off. She insisted on bathing the cat upon arrival, which seemed strange at the time. We later learned that the cat had been confined in a crate for over 24 hours and had urinated on herself. Within the first 48 hours in our home, she was so scared that she defecated on herself, a clear sign of extreme distress.

It took nearly two weeks before she even felt safe enough to come out of hiding. On top of that, despite being told she was litter-trained, we had to teach her how to use the litter box and slowly rebuild her trust. This is not the behavior of a well-socialized cat raised by a responsible breeder.

After further research, we discovered that Micah does not actually breed and raise her cats — instead, she imports them from Russia and traffics them around Texas and New Mexico. This is not ethical breeding; it is a disturbing business model that prioritizes profit over animal welfare.

I am heartbroken that I didn’t do more research before trusting Micah Thompson. I strongly urge anyone considering Sunshine Siberians to stay far away. Do your research and choose a breeder who truly cares about their animals’ well-being.
