Other than TaxAct having minimal and useless customer service, an all around horrible product that you can get most other places for a fraction of the price and continuously send you emails even though you never agreed to recieve any- you cannot delete your account. You cannot cancel your membership. I wanted my PERSONAL information out of their database, out of the hands of their affiliates and after searching with a fine-toothed comb through the website for some way to get out, I emailed the company. Two days later I recieved this email:
Dear TaxACT(R) Customer:
If you wish to discontinue using our services at any time during the tax season, you may simply abandon your online return. If you would like to remove all personal data from your return, simply log back into your return and remove or replace any personal information with fictitious data.
You may also disable your account by signing in to your return at www.taxactonline.com. Then click the link "My TaxACT"; click "Update your Account Information"; click "Disable your Account". On the following screen you will see a link to permanently disable the account.
Thank you for using TaxACT. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hows that for protecting your identity from identity theft? I can't help but think this website and the whole process is a scam and a phishing website. It's too late, I signed up for a low priced e-file and they wanted to charge me over $40 for a state return. Crooks. I got the same thing from a similar website for less than $20 and now these people have all my personal information and never supplied me with a thing.
I have found TaxAct to be a reputable company that provides a good product at a fair price. I am a professional tax preparer who worked for a nationally known Tax Service until the franchise was sold to a family that planned to run the service in a way that did not meet my ethical standards. While with the professional firm, I bought a copy of the Deluxe home version of tax act, and compared tax returns made by the TaxAct software with the results of the national firm's returns used in their training program, and got identical results. For a typical wage earner, or even a contract employee, with access to a home computer connected to the internet, their Deluxe TaxAct software product is a perfect solution, and doing one Federal and one state return should cost less than $40.00 fot the package and e-filing. Since retiring, I use the DEluxe TAXACT home edition to do my own taxes and those of my extended family.
The package is capabile of handling a small unincorporated business, but the user needs to have a good understanding of tax law to prepare the business portion of the return correctly.
Greetings,
Disclosure - I work for TaxACT and I thank you for your comments. You can rest assured that any information you enter is private and completely secure. We don't share any customer data with affiliates or 3rd party offers. Your information is only accessible by you.
Additionally, our online Deluxe product sells for $9.95 with a free federal e-file, adding one online state makes the total just $17.95 (includes a free state e-file as well). If you a using the desktop version, or preparing multiple returns, it is possible to have additional fees.
Thank you,
Leigh
I will never use this type of filing ever. When My refund appeared On the Endeavor card My wife and Me went to the bank to take the money out of the account so that We could close it. We have no reason to have another account and in fact I thought that was ok to do. We proceeded to withdraw half of the money and get the other later in the day because the bank would only give us half at that time. So when We went to get the other. the account had been closed. So I checked on the inner net and it was closed, check over the phone and it was the same. I don't know what to do. From reading some of the complaints I must dig in for a fight, it doesn't seem like this is going to be easy. Know one talks to U and everything is over the phone. I can't make contact on the net. Something is terribly wrong that the IRS will let a company with as many shabby practices as Taxact has operate. It just seems to Me that the IRS would really check companies out before they (IRS) deposit tax payers money into these institution. But what the heck, they are all one in the same.
Bancorp is the bank that handles the endeavor card for Taxact...We TOO HAVE had the biggest nightmare experience from them. They had us "Jumping through hoops" to accomodate them! They held our return of about $4000 for almost a month, then asked us to fax proof of WHO WE WERE to them...Well, the result was...Bancorp would not release our return! We had to contact the IRS to have them issue us a check. We received it 2 months later...Isn't there someone in our government who can shut down businesses like this? Bancorp plays"GOD" with our money and then won't give it to us?

-This is absolutely false! The very day I completed my taxes using this software I started receiving 20-25 e-mail spams a day! It's no coincidence that the e-mails are offers for single men in their 40's like dating web sites, porn sites and Viagra spam offers! They obviously have my personal information when I filed my taxes through their site which makes that gold to 3rd party companies.
These people are [censored]s. The software comes with a cheap price tag, but they make up for it by "[censored]" your personal information out to 3rd party companies.
I used TurboTax last year for my return and as soon as the IRS accepted my return, I recieved my card in the mail. I did not have to wait weeks for it. So for some odd reason I decided to give Taxact a chance this year! What a big mistake! The IRS accepted the return, deposited the money to Bankcorp on the 15th, and still no card. It's been two weeks! And why is there no way on the Taxact website to know if the card has been mailed! Horrible!
I used them and they flagged the address of my tax preparer and I opted to get the Endeavor card as opposed to a check because I have no ID (lost everything to a house fire) and I had 5000 dollars left on my card and NO way to get it... If I would have been able to cash a check, I would have opted to receive one... is there anything that can be done?
After waiting two weeks on the endeavor card, I contacted Taxact. They informed me that the card was sent to the wrong address. I have no idea how this could have happened since I gave them the correct one and have paperwork to prove it. They still charged me ten dollars for a replacement card when I never recieved the first one! I ended up waiting longer than I would have if I would have opted for a paper check! I asked Taxact would they be able to replace the money if someone actually recieved the card and used it and I was informed that if this happened there would be nothing they could do! Now as far as loosing the card in a fire, you could call the IRS and inform them of this. I'm almost sure they will check to make sure the card has not been used then issue you a paper check. Don't bother to contact Taxact. They will be of no assistance.
Leigh,
I apprecieate your attention and courtesy and request your assistance
I downloaded the free version of TaxAct and I cannot delete it. Not with MS Vista delete programs or the TaxAct Uninstall program (I get an error message). I have downloaded the free version again and tried to delete it--same problem. Downloaded again--still same program.
I want to delete all traces of TaxAct--including my personal file (which I have altered by entering ficticious info).
Please advise.
Greetings,
Please contact https://www.taxact.com/tsupport/support_request.asp and address your inquiry: Attention Tech Support Supervisor. They can provide instructions to manually remove the program.
Thank you,
Leigh
I used tax act last year very pleased, also used tax act this year very pleased with the service. What I'm not pleased about is the Endeavor Card or the Bancorp people and as a reflection that leads right back to tax act because they are associated with Tax-Act.I have a illness and I have a limited time left on this wonderful earth, but I don't have any insurance to pay for my blood work, my medicine and a few more vital things that I need in life all because the associates Tax-Act uses will not give me my IRS Refund.I was told to leave the Hospital Jan/28/2012 because of my insurance problems.I used Tax-Act to file my taxes this year, and was accepted by the IRS etc...I had my card Expedited so I could buy me some insurance and get my medicine for my illness, it only suppose to take 2-3 business days it's been 2 weeks and no card. When I talk to Endeavor custom service they hang up on me and say it's Bancorp Fault. When I talk to Bancorp they say it's Tax-Act fault.I don't care who's at fault, where's my money I'm dieing and I need my medicine and my blood work by Fri which will be in 2 days.I NEED HELP IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME GET MY MONEY FROM THESE GUYS, GOD WILL BLESS YOU AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOU.A GMAIL I CAN BE REACH AT IS AAWOMBLE@GMAIL.COM.I NEED HELP!
Thank you for your inquiry. The IRS has experienced delays this year with their e-filing system and some refunds have been delayed. To find out whether or not your refund has been loaded on the Endeavor Card you can check "Where's my Refund" on IRS.gov or call the IRS directly to find the status of your refund. In addition, the Endeavor Card generally takes 7 to 10 business days to mail. If your card has been overnighted that is sent via FedEx and will be trackable by getting the tracking number from Bancorp at [protected]. If you have further questions, please contact support@taxact.com to ensure your request is received.
Thank you,
Leigh

i used tax act last year because it was cheaper than turbotax. The only way I could really use it though was to use turbo tax first and then transfer that information over to taxact manually. The reason for this is because Taxact is a clumsy program and not very user friendly. Their guided program is very disorganized and wonky. If you're not sure what credits/ deductions you qualify for then you are likely to miss out on claiming them if you use tax act. With tax act you'll have to fish around for things to claim and unless you have used turbotax and *know* what information should be there, you'll be left wondering if it was done right. Not at all the kind of peace of mind I want after sending in my tax return! Spend the extra $30 and use turbotax.
ive used taxact the last few years and have had no problems at all.i had my returns deposited in my checking with in 2 weeks!
I have used taxact for the last 3 years and this year taxact forgets to send republic bank my direct deposit info. So now the irs has sent my refund and republic has to send it back to the irs. Taxact isn't even responding to my emails nor have they fixed the problem. When I call them taxact support isn't help at all will never use them again or ever recommend them to anyone! Taxact is very unprofessional! Please do not use TAXACT!
My husband an I used Tax Act every year for the last 6 or 7 years. However, this year it appears to be a problem with the site. it's not totalling, and it's asking me the same questions 2 times. Please advise if there is a problem. Thanks TRG
I just deleted my account on taxact but before I do that my return was accepted by the irs. So is that means that I need to file my return again?
If you use this website...PRINT your return.I have not been able to access last years return despite paying an archive fee and giving all that credit card information. The fee is 13.95 FOR EACH year you want to access. What a ripoff.Also...good luck deleting an incomplete return. It is STUCK there, too!
I began the free file tax return only to have it tell me when I was nearly finished that I did not qualify. Then it wanted to charge me twice as much as I had paid for another family members return. I'll file on paper before I give them another penny. That's the last time I use TaxAct. Ever.
I have used Taxact for several years. I had to reset my pc & NOW I am unable to access my Taxact account. I have tried several methods to access my account but every attempt was unsuccessful. . If I DO NOT receive an answer from u soon I will be forced to use a different online tax preparer.
I began using the free tax filing service online and when I completed it they started proffering me numerous offers that obviously were for the rich.
Then, to my surprise, they said they would not file for me unless I paid them.
I was using the "free" product.
