ON 11/30/22 I drove through the Lincoln Tunnel and the EZ pass reader did not scan my EZ pass. The Port Authority NY NJ sent me a violation notice. The toll is $14.50. I responded within the 30-day period with my EZ pass number to pay the toll. The Port Authority still sent this to collection and now say they want $138.00. This is the fourth time this has happened and each time I have to send in my EZ pass number. Port authority says "Just pay the fine." It's in collection and they will do nothing. $138.00 fine for a $14.50 toll because their equipment can't correctly read my EZ pass transponder. I had a valid EZ pass account when I went through this toll. I sent them this information in timely manner.
There was no reason for them to send this to collection.
Desired outcome: Charge my EZ pass account $14.50 for the toll and stop collection.
