I thought I had contacted Safe Auto to pay my car insurance. Before the Safe Auto rep was put on the line, I was told that I was a “special” customer and qualified for a $100 voucher for only $1.95. Normally, I would not give my information to someone over the phone, especially to a company I don’t know or recognized. Since I though
I figured that this must be a perk or incentive for Safe Auto customers and thought nothing of it. I told the rep that I wanted to be transferred, the only thing I wanted was to pay on my car insurance. He reassured me that I will get to SA so I continued thinking that I was going to be transferred. I wasn’t.
I never received the email with the cancellation information promised by the rep.
I went to all them back immediately to cancel but the customer service department was closed. I then tried to call back the call center thinking that surely if they can take orders they can cancel as well. No. I was given another number after I was told that I was given the wrong number.
By this time, I know that I was scammed. I bank with Wells Fargo (excellent) so I am not too worried about any funds they may try to take from my account but I am posting this story everywhere.
I did call the main number back and told them that if they want to save themselves a lot of grief, they might want to consider cancelling my two orders. I also informed them that I am aware that they are running a scam. I will be checking my account very carefully- if anything beyond the two 1.95 payments are taken, I will press charges and be extremely vocal about their little scam business.
This company also uses several "business names" and they don't disclose which company you have contacted- another stalling tactic
Here is all of the contact information that I have collected.
1.855.808.9397 / customer service/ no company name given
1.888.808.6528/ customer service number/ "wrong number given"
1.877.230.4476/ magazine offer/ no company name disclosed on voice message
Variations / name
Savings Advantage Club/ thesavingsadvantageclub.com
Simple Savings Club or Discount Savings
American Savings Discount

The same just happened to me... when I asked them for the name of the company, she stated that she could only give the name to customers, since I insisted, she hang up on me. I had to cancel my credit card just to be safe! I had already gave them the number, but no the security code. This is definitely a SCAM.

Thank you for posting! I accidently reached this company (called themselves Discount Savings Advantage only when pressed for company name). I had dialed 888 instead of 866. They said the number I was trying to reach was no longer a working number that's why I reached them. I said "No, I misdialed." The rep said "After you claim your reward we'll get you to the business you were trying to reach." When I said No, I don't feel comfortable giving my credit card info to a company I don't know." the rep hung up on me!

When I asked for the company phone number (figuring if they turned out to be legit I'd call back for the $100 reward) the number given to me was: 1.888.808.6528

I was also given this 100$ reward voucher but it ended up turning out very well for me. I was able to purchase 100$ worth of items through walmart and the only charge taken from my account turned out to be the 1.95$ that the Saving Advantage club offered. overall my experience was great, and I would reccomend it.

It's a discount "card" club, but they can't tell you which retailers are part of the actual club or the percentage off (-$$) you would get at each retailer once enrolled into the club. So, the pitchmen are selling the $100 gift card for the right to enroll you in the club for the upfront fee of $1.95--they have no idea what the club is, but expect you to agree to commit 39.95 per month. I think you'd be safe in accepting/paying the initial fee of $1.95 and then collecting the info from company including the $100 gift card. Look at the program and see if it works. If it doesn't make sense contact the CC company you used to pay the 1.95 fee. If you then contact your CC company and mention possible fraud scam and being "unable" to cancel the club membership of 39.95 per month that should put an end to the $39.95 fee. Or you could see that the program works for you and the $39.95 club fee pays for itself each month. I suspect if you spend $300-$400 per month or more in eating out, this could work. But again, I don't know the specifics, which is the problem.

Yesterday I thought I had dialed ACS to pay off my student loan, just passed the bar exam 🤓. Must have transposed a number, recording said press 1 if I was over 65 to receive a free Life Alert system or press 2 to receive a free gift card. I wasn't given the option to press another number to speak with an ACS representative so I pressed 2. A male came on, said while I was waiting for a representative as a valued customer they wanted to send me a $100.00 gift voucher as a way of introducing me to a new savings program, still thought I had called ACS. Said I wasn't interested in a savings program, wanted the amount due to pay off my student loan. He persisted, all they needed was some info to send the $100.00 voucher, processing fee $1.99, no further obligation. They would email program info for review in case I wanted to changed my mind. Never mentioned I would need to cancel anything. Haven't received email, cancelled my credit card and waiting for voucher to arrive in mail. LOL. Maybe I should have gone to med school..

I just fell for this too, I was trying to reach Dell.com and they supposedly offered me this unbelievable deal, I think the key here is unbelievable, it is sounds too good to be true, most likely it is. I had almost done this a month ago, when I tried to contact Capitol One Credit card, and was offered a Bahama Cruise for 65.00 of which I declined because it seemed too good to be true, but then I reconsidered and tried to contact them, but was not able to get thru, I think this too was a scam, but have no idea how they are able to respond to the Dell.com, or Capitol One.com. phone numbers?

I just got off the phone with this so called company I was calling to activate my netspend card and i knew that this was a scam especially when I wasn't offered no other option other than accepting the gift card I dialed the number that came with the card so i figured that the number was legit but once I started talking to the woman rand told her I just want to be transferred to the number of the company she kept asking for my address so while I was on the phone with her i asked her what was the company name and simultaneously went to Google on my other phone and looked up the name of the company she kept asking for my address so I told her that i don't give my info to companies I don't recognize so I gave her a fake address city and zip code I knew something was fishy I also gave her a a card I knew didn't work anymore, so after she repeated the false info she was given She said thanks and was about to hang up without giving the number of the company or trying to transfer me me Needless to say the number of the company she gave me was a toll-free information number I had to remind her that she didn't give me the number I just want to say thanks to everyone on this page for the insight thanks for once the scammers got scammed

Did anyone ever get their location from the attempted charge on your credit card? They have been calling me and I want to sue them.

Caller ID was [protected].

When I called back I got a robotic message saying I had a $100 voucher to receive, with a processing fee of $1.99, “…so please have your credit card ready”. When I pressed 1 to get someone with a pulse, I got representative from Discounted Savings Advantage.

I was born on a Thursday, but not last Thursday. Nice try, Sparky!

Me too I was suspicious from the get go because I heard a lot of people talking behind him it sounded like a hot room. That's the first thing that made me suspicious. 2. He didn't want to give me the name of his company. I pressed him for it and he said it was discount and saving advantage. 2. I told him I don't want the membership because I can't afford to buy anything. He kept on pushing me telling me that it's an introductory offer for customers for 2 weeks for $1.95 and I could cancel it all the while telling you about the money. It also sounded too good to be true. He kept emphasizing the money and he was too pushy so I hung up. Thank god!

The number [protected]‬ called me as a robocall telemarketer from "Eric at Discover card" claiming I qualified for a refi because of the pandemic. I don't have a Discover card and I'm on the federal do not call list. When I called the number back it connected to these scammers listed on this page with the same scam about the $100 voucher for only $1.95. She said the company way Discounts and Savings Advantage with the website discountsandsavingsadvantage.com. There is no domain registered by that name. Same scammers still in operation as of 12/2022. I reported the call to the FTC and posted it on 800notes.com (good site to log scams and telemarketers).
