I used to watch the Weather Channel all the time. Now that it's becoming an anything but weather channel I don't watch it much at all! Al Roker should have just stayed on the Today Show... so many of the meteorologists I used to love to watch are gone (they were like family) and trying to find an actual weather report is getting more and more difficult! It's either movies or hours of their repeats of Storm Stories, etc. NBC is not geared towards weather and should have just left TWC alone! It really sucks now!

Also, when you view one of the videos that are of interest to you, they trap you so that you have no choice other than shutting down your computer in order to get out of their site!If anyone knows how to get out of the weather channel videos - please post!

I agree with all above comments. I used to watch TWC a lot. Now with all the " entertainment" it's a waste of time. The reason is simple. Since NBC bought TWC, the bean counters have had a field day. They now put on prerecorded programing instead of real time weather reporting. Why? Because it is cheaper to run this type of program over and over again rather than have to keep all those on air people on the payroll. Now Roker is on. HMMM... could it be since he is on NBC their killing 2 birds with one stone? Now they even cut the local forecasts during their "documentary series". All you get is the generic national flash through like you get on a satelite system. Counting them beans. Not having to break away from programming to show The Local On The Eights, just allows more time for commercials during the hour. What's happened to TWC is just another case of a good idea getting [censored]d out for a buck!

I agree with all here, I can not stand to watch it anymore, used to be a favorite cause they did weather, hope it goes broke.. I think someone ought to start a real weather channel again.Storm stories etc.you make me puke a little goes a long way. I only watch major network TV for football and latenight shows thats it.

When I log onto the weather on my internet, the face book icon and tweet icon and mail icon blocks the information for the individual days forecast. I can't read or discern the information that is behind these icons. How can I correct this problem?

Couldn't agree more! Now they have some show about pyro techs on there every evening. Seriously cannot see a true connection between that and weather that affects me on a daily basis. I used to depend on TWC for weather forecasts, especially in the morning. Not anymore. I used to like Stephanie Abrams when she was a real meteorologist standing out in the wind and the rain covering a landfalling hurricane. Now, unfortunately, she is nothing more than Al Roker's silly sidekick. TWC has tried too hard and come on way too strong with trying to keep up with Twitter, FB, etc. I could careless what someone's hashtag is and what they're saying about weather in their backyard clear across the country. It is about 10% weather coverage now and 90% nonsense that I can find on any other channel. Shame on you NBC for doing away with what used to be a very respected group of TV meteorologists that actually talked about thunderstorms, temperatures, fronts, hurricanes, highs, lows, rain, sleet and hail. Maybe these former meteorologists were not "TV Personalities", but that's not the reason I watched them. I watched them for their weather expertise and fancy presentation had nothing to do with it. That's why they call it "The Weather Channel", not the "The Entertainment with an occasional reference to weather Channel". One more huge complaint. The seldom times I do watch now to try and find a forecast for my local area, there is so much garbage on the screen, it's ridiculous! Miss you Dave Schwartz and Cheryl Lemke and all the rest of you.

TWC was trashed even before NBC completely ruined it - apparently some woman or metrosexual took it over about 15 - maybe 20 years ago and quickly took anything weather - based out of the content. ("Stormy Stories, " pah-leeeze!) and they obviously fired anyone with an intact Y chromosome. One wonders exactly to what part of Siberia did they take the likes of Bill Schubert, Don Buser, Will Annen, Dale Dockus, or for that matter...Jeanetta Jones? (Vivian Brown: watch your back! You too could disappear one of these days for being too smart and too "weathery")

TWC's fate is the flagship reason why you couldn't even pay me to sign up for cable TV. I'd be embarassed to be caught with a cable box on my TV. What total junk.

It's too bad John (Smith? - I forget his last name).. the brains behind the whole idea of a Weather Channel... didn't stay with it, or otherwise put legal stuff in place to prevent its complete ruination by the ###ic-mass-media mongers.

Its great to see that im not the only one that seen TWC going down the toilet, and if you have basic cable or above, youre PAYING FOR IT! Why do we have to pay people to watch commericals and "Storm Stories"? When you can see new and UP-RISING "Weather Nation" on Free ANTENNA TV!? I had cable taken out, and only have High Speed Internet, and bought a new digital external TV antenna and you will be amazed how many HD stations you get including Weather Nation which is just lie having TWC all over again from day 1! ALL WEATHER!

SwellFellow: That's exactly what I did. I hooked the PC to the flat panel TV and between that and about 12 off the air channels, I got more than I can watch. Anybody who is paying for cable/satellite is nuts or just plain stupid.

I'm not sure who to address this to, but I have a complaint about a video I just saw while watching the weather.
Matt showed a video of a huge (18') Burmese Python that was caught and killed by a guy, in Florida I think.
I want you to know that we were absolutely appalled that you shared this video where the guys killed this beautiful snake for absolutely no reason, as if that is what should be done every time anyone finds a snake!
This video will encourage people to go ahead and kill other snakes (and other animals) indiscriminately!
I think this video should be pulled, and an apology issued to all those who were subject to its very disturbing content.
We will continue to spread the word about this very disturbing video.

Shannon: I like animals too. I respect them; always have. When we were kids, my dad took us for walks on the nature trails and explained all the natural stuff to us and on the way home, explained to us how the "cavemen" of the late 19th and early 20th centuries polluted the Great Lakes beyond belief. Barges of trashed machinery and metals and chemicals hauled out into the middle of Lake St Clair; cottages in St Clair Shores with sewers that discharged raw sewage into the lake...etc., etc.

But it's very important to take the emotion out of one's reaction to videos - or anything else you see, or you will be an emotional wreck for the rest of your life. See it, say "tsk, tsk" and leave it at that.

Young white people in the US have far more important things to worry about...real things. What has happened to The Weather Channel is, in a way, a classic example of how being intelligent, thinking on your own, and being responsible is...well, simply out of style and something that "old white males" did for the past few hundred years. Why is this so important to "them?" Because they want all of you to (not) think... like the pawns in a sub-Saharan African tribe. Pat some manna on a rock, take a sock in the kisser if you don't like the way the tribe is run, and knuckle under to some slob's desires. (Wow! Come to think of it...does that sound like Washington?)

The original Weather Channel was an idea pertinent to the dawn of "cable-ized" television and in those days was of awesome popularity. A classic example of this country's attitude toward upward mobility and innovation. But someone said, "..hey! Its too smart. Too white...too little emotion here..." .and that's how it got to where it is.

How did I know that public schools were teaching kids emotion and egalitarianism, at the expense of math skills? It's very clear to me now.

Not just the weather channel but ALL network TV stations have drastically trimmed weather information.
This morning I watched 25 seconds of NY weather on ch 11 and 7, then 25 second commercial, (with a countdown to when local weather will show) THEN less than 20 seconds of local weather!
This is a far cry from what it used to be, with local micro climate info, city by city weather condition predictions, wind directions, fog and smog alerts, whereas NOW it's only a 3 day prediction screen, a flash of all bay area weather peak temps, and gone.
This is another example of how Network TV, locally in California channels 2, 4, 5, 7 and 11, are just offering fluff, gossip, and very little real useful information. !

Couldn't agree MORE. The UN-Weather Channel shows everything BUT weather at this point, and it's not getting ANY better.

Now on TOP of the fact that they show nothing but mindless garbage-programming about truckers and the like, AND spend most of their very sparse 'real' weather-reporting time sharing people's random, generic whiny tweets about it being cold or rainy where they live, there's even talk of them DOING AWAY WITH THE LOCAL FORECAST COMPLETELY in 2014.

And since it was the original topic, let me tell you, people were dead-serious about the movies being shown a while back (they were since discontinued, fortunately).

As a matter of fact, as I said in comment to another review, the 'movies' fiasco nearly bit me and my entire family in the butt, hard.

It was probably 2-3 years ago that that was going on, and one night, we had a tornado outbreak in which there was LITERALLY a tornado warning in the next county over, RIGHT across the river, and we were all scared crapless. And just WHAT pertinent weather information did we find when we tuned into the 'Weather' Channel?

Fortunately, the warning was canceled later, and the tornado stopped just short of making it here, apparently, but NO THANKS to TWC's *MASSIVE* lack of service during an emergency.

I do NOT like the new format at all. When you now give "Local" weather there is NOTHING local about it at all. When you do "Central" there is NO mention of Texas at all let alone San Antonio. GO BACK to the old format at least then we get our LOCAL on the 8's. NOT back East or out West.

I'll tell you what I'm getting so pissed off by their videos, that I'm thinking of hcking their site, hows that for combining emotion and math skills ;) maybe if enough of us went after them they'd give us what WE want.

Very hard to contact them. Very sad coverage of local weather; it is almost never more than a minute, once in a while 1:12. They do the "immediate" forecast then next thing you see is "the week ahead." And get some different music besides that stupid sounding piano plunking theme song they have been using for the last 3-4 months. I have NOT YET HEARD ONE FAVORABLE COMMENT about the abandonment of the green land background in favor of the white background where you can hardly identify the counties. The new maps (local radar) look like a 3rd grader did them for an extra-credit project.

I agree with all of the above comments. I have been an avid Weather Channel watcher since 1985, but no more! I cannot stand the latest up grades to the local radar. They now have a white background and introduced it just about the time it started snowing around here. They also have this little ignorant snippet at the beginning of the local weather that may say something like "dogs like this forecast, we're just saying" or we sent this forecast to your golf clubs or some other pathetic little quote. This little snippet now replaces the local climate info I used to get with the average high and low, the high and low from the previous day, when the sun sets and rises and the moon phases. Don't even get me started on Al Roker and that dismal dumb blonde Ms Abrams. They can both stay in NY and do the today show, but please not any more weather.
Sure is not what I started watching in the 80s, it is as if they do not want to do weather, just toot their own horns and now name winter storms. Today it is Janus, and very little info for my area, PATHETIC at best

Get rid of TWC. There is no longer local on the eights and Roker and Abrams make me sick
. Seems to me if all cable companies dropped them, they would have no advertising dollars and would drop from the face of the earth. That is just fine with me. Maybe another channel would try to be the new Weather Channel, and not forgot the core mission, which is to provide weather!

The new format with Sam Champion is a joke. If I want a morning entertainment program with the latest movies, etc. I would tune in to CBS, NBC or Abc. Mike Bettes is slowly being shoved out by all these new people who have no experience in this field. When Stephanie and Mike were the morning program
you received the weather information along with good natured banter between the two. Now these other fools have come in a ruined the programming. Leave it to NBC and all the other greedy corporations to ruin yet another good thing. No wonder Direct TV dropped this station, no one cares because, like me, they have turned it off.

The bar of qualifications for most of the weather "Personalities" is that they are able to talk without allowing a millisecond of dead air time. Talk out of every opening in their person reguardless of it making sense or even being relevant to the topic. It ia almost like watching the Jewlry selling network JTV out of Inbred, Tennessee. Even more embarrasing is the latest trend of "Crowd broadcasting" where the whole Fam Damily of Good Morning Cheerleaders gets to holding hands after Over Dosing on Kaffenated Koolaid and "getting you out in front" of the weather 'Cuz "It's 'mazing out thur". It is neither wanted nor needed for the weather to be brung to me with a failed attempt at entertainment and current trendy topic tie-ins. Who wants ebola and Miley Cyrus weather forcasts. And for the sake of all that is reverent and Pat Sajak, STOP trying to forcast the end of days with the over sell of your in house documentaries.

ok now where I live it does local on the 8's but in every other state than where I am at. I get no information at all. it goes completely around the state I live in. why do I even have the weather channel. it is a lousy set up. need to fix it where is shows only the state you live in. say if you live in Alabama that should only show Alabama not everything but Alabama. I live in Kentucky, it shows tenessee, it shows Virginia, it shows everything but Kentucky. need to take the weather channel off the air. that is the worse station to ever have

I agree with everyone above. The weather channel got names for the snow storms. The camera crew is always aming the women butts. They put on more news then weather. I have complained about all the stupid stuff and they never listen. I am very sad that they don't listen to the people watch them. I would like to the weather channel dropped from cable and bring someone on who knows the weather. Not people who don't what ther are doing.

Weather Channel Programming to non 24hr weather information channel

Ever since NBC company had purchased the weather channel the weather channel had changed their 24 hour weather programming to non-related forecasting weather programming. The weather channel does not provide or complies with the contract or agreement that it is a 24 hour true weather channel. It seems to get even worse now.

I am making a request that ATT change the contract to another service such as Weather Nation and or another weather service that will provide only 24 hour weather coverage.

Otherwise I will force myself to purchase an internet service box ROKU/Internet to provide continuous weather from other services.

I can't tell you how many times I complained about this. I am sick of seeing all these stupid dumb shows when important weather comes up that I need to look at I have to always go to another 24 hour source.

I am very dissapointed at the weather channel and ATT for continuing to provide this channel which IS NOT A 24HR WEATHER CHANNEL SERVICE ANYMORE OR HAS BEEN SINCE THE NBC TAKEOVER in 2008. The nerve that the weather channel blasted earlier this year at Direct TV to bring back the weather channel.. Well for me I have control. its off my channel list forever!

Like all cable networks The Weather Channel has fallen down the pits of dumbsville USA. Having old broken down, inferior, NBC take hold of The Weather Channel was the nail to the coffin. You can get all the necessary weather coverage off the internet. Who needs to listen to some cheesy windbag blabber on and on about the latest forecast. It's all old school globitty-guk. I get all the weather info that I need from the NOAA site. I don't need some painted up halfwit dramatizing the latest weather conditions. And then there's The Weather Channels off weather topic shows that they run. The insanity of The Weather Channel airing Discovery Network's hillbilly themed "reality" rubbish, and the pathetic crap about ghosts and hauntings on a channel that's supposed to be about the weather! Also, I'm so sick of The Weather Channel's pro "global warming" agenda. That's good ol' lefty NBC putting the usual spin on things. Enough is enough! I'm on the verge of dumping my cable service since there isn't an iota of worthiness to any of the programming offered. The internet is crippling network and cable TV each day. Good riddance!

We are very dissatisfied with the weather channel here in North Carolina. We do not get to see Local on the Eights" when bad weather is coming because of extra programming which we do not enjoy. The weather channel is for "Weather"! The Weather Channel should be discontinued. We did not vote for it to continue on Dish Network, but received a Weather Channel Baseball Cap anyway which we threw in the trash! Another local weather station should be on where the weather channel is now instead! Weather Channel is of no use when we really need it around here.

2 main reasons for complaining,
#1 : no weather out look or forecasts in evenings unless Chicago or Memphis might get hit or the east coast in under a rain storm drizzle event or worse. come on, you can't forecast the weather for the central United States. how about forecasting the weather all the time instead of when you want to. never know when? You have to be running those super computers all the time to stay upon things. why don't you share that knowledge instead of waiting for morning to come about.?
#2 when you zoom in and stay zoomed in how would anyone know what state you are looking at? I mean does it cost extra to leave a tag in a corner or two to say what part of the country I'm looking at? come on, your maps are totally ridicules. and the new white maps are stupid. not sure again why, does that cost extra too. maybe you need to spend money on people labeling and forecasting the weather more often.

My 4th grader was asked to watch the Weather Channel for homework and ask me questions about Hurricane Matthew. Imagine my surprise when I turned it on and there was a movie trailer playing with inappropriate content about a murder, with sexual scenes being shown. I could not change the channel fast enough, but it was too late--she saw it anyway. When did TWC stop being a 'G' rated channel? I know you rely on advertising, but please consider the fact that children watch your channel when you pick and choose what to advertise. Can you help us to preserve their innocence please?! Me and several others have quit watching the weather channel--accu weather has better and more up to date reports. The weather channel has become a reality show. They are all concerned of who can look the best and who can interrupt the other to get more attention. No more weather channel.

Why would I get your station , when you never mention North Port Fl on your weather reports, you talk about Englewood and Venice Fl , and we are right next to them, but we must not be important enough for your station

The WC stopped broadcasting while a severe tornado outbreak was ongoing in the South. This is inexcusable. They inserted a feature program that had nothing to do with current weather. Lots of people in rural areas depend on the Weather Channel for warnings.

Your app and your forecast are terrible. Says no rain and even your radar says no rain yet it’s raining. It’s terrible. I’m trying to use your forecast to get the things I need done plan and yet you get it wrong all the time.
