Our company purchased a Therma-Tru Smooth-Star door with 2 sidelites. We installed the door January 31, 2012. Our installler noticed marks in the paint. He tried to wipe the door with a towel and plain water to remove the marks. The marks only got worse. In addition to the marks in the paint the glass in the side lights was two different colors. We contacted Seal-Rite and requested they replace the door. Seal-Rite sent a rep out to look at the door, take pictures and file a report.
Seal-Rite agreed to replace the glass and pay to have the door re-painted or to take the door back. Seal-Rite has refused to replace the door with a new door stating they feel a new door would not satisfy our customer. We have stopped selling Therma-Tru products.
Seal-Rite Corp and our customer are moving to a final resolution to this problem. It looks like Seal-Rite will provide our customer with a new door that she can have painted after we install it. We have been working with both Therma-Tru and Seal-Rite to resolve this issue. Because we are a small family run business we can not afford to have problems with any products we sell to our customers. We hope that Therma-Tru can correct this problem we experienced with the paint finish on Smooth Star door line.
