I purchased "The Beatles in Germany, 1966" and was very dissatisfied with the content and quality. The two hour DVD included very little live concert footage and alot of useless filler, i.e. extraneous crowd scenes from outside the concert that kept being repeated. The video quality resembled VHS recordings and the audio was poor at best and often unintelligible during interviews. Audio during concert songs was often disconnected from the video, i.e George Harrison singing on the video while audio was on an instrumental segment. The description of this DVD sounded great but it was a very poor product. For a cost of $20, this DVD was a total rip off. I emailed Videobeat, explained my disappointment, and asked for a refund. Their reply is below. I'll never buy another DVD from them and warn others to be very wary.
"You clicked “accept official policy” when you checked out. If people have a nice tone and attitude I’m inclined to make exceptions. I’m sorry I only offer exchanges for defective discs."
The "unofficial policy" also stated they would generally make refunds because they only want satisfied customers. Apparently I had a bad "tone and attitude" because I told them exactly what was wrong with the DVD.
I've had great experiences with Video Beat. I had a disc go bad two years after I purchased and they replaced it quickly and at no cost to me. They've always been friendly and helpful, even sending me somewhere else when they didn't have the movie I wanted.
I've always found the video beat to be a wonderful resource with friendly and helpful service. I've been a regular customer since 1998. I noticed that the person who complained spammed every review site on the web with the same word-for-word complaint. It seems they were on a vengeful mission. It's too bad. The video beat is terrific company offering very rare and amazing video footage. I was not asked to post this comment, it's coming from my heart. I highly recommend the video beat.
I think Video Beat is an great service! Several times they have gone the extra mile for me...searching and finding an old Australian teenage TV show...or, once I forgot to input a discount code and HE EMAILED ME to tell me I forgot to take the discount and he applied it to my card! That was pretty wonderful! Also, very fast service and I've found the video quality to be excellent. I'm writing this because the Video Beat told me someone complained on this site and I wanted to make sure my opinion was heard too. I've worked in retail and some customers can be mean, demanding and disrespectful. Based on my experience with Video Beat (going back to 2005) all I can is I've always been treated extremely well and will continue to do business with them.
I recently ordered from Video Beat and am very satisfied. He's a nice guy and very knowledgable. I think the person who registered the complaint might be one of those perpetual complainers. A bit of a nutcase if actually.
From the sound of the person's complaint it seems likely that didn't understand that Video Beat offers rare and hard to find video material. The specific title they are referring to is not available in any other form and is not commercially available. I'm a Beatles collector and I think the video is great. There is color silent home movie footage shot by a fan at a concert -- sounds was added and yes, it doesn't match lip movements but the alternative is a silent film. Video Beat has been a great resource for me for many years.
I purchased two dvds from this site the quality was very poor indeed.I contacted seller concerning my concerns he agreed the quality was poor on these two movies .Didnt offer me to return for a refund told me to pick another movie free from hes site.Which he never sent.I been collecting 1950s and 1960s for many years and due to the era these movies were filmed i do not expect to days standards concerning picture quality but i never had quality this bad before.Seems like i alot of this sites material is from youtube.I would not recommend this site.
I would suggest that you contact VB and ask if they will be on vacation before you buy from them. I purchased from them online, thinking they would give me what I paid for - first class shipping to be delivered in 3 -4 days from date of purchase ( used to work at post office so I know how long priority / 1st class takes) Instead I get an email stating that VB is on vacation and won't be back until 2 weeks later, so your order will sit in their store for at least 2 weeks before it is shipped . VB never posted this on their website. And shouldn't have charged a 1 st class postage fee . Sorry, but VB is a bit shady. VB be up front with customers plz
