I called them about a small leak in my packaged heat pump. I talked with
Mary on 3 different occasions to get their pricing. She quoted $100 for the service call and $100 per hr. but that price changed when the tech came and gave me the bill. Chris (tech) came on the scheduled day but was a little late. He explained to me how their pricing works. $100 for the service call which includes the first 20 minutes. Then $100 per hr. thereafter, not including any diagnostic tests. So, I agreed to have him look at the problem. I already had the outside unit opened to help limit the costs. I pointed out to Chris where I felt the leak might be so he sprayed a solution in the area and we found the leak. The whole process took about 15 to 20 minutes. Then, Chris had to call his boss Tom (owner) to discuss how to fix but Tom said that the whole coil needed to be replaced. So, Chris went back to his truck to write out the bill and call his boss for pricing on the coil replacement and this is where the pricing changed. The bill was $250 minus a $50 coupon that I had for a total cost was $200. The Ultimate tech charged me $150 for the service call and $100 for him to spray a solution in the leak area. There was no other service work done, period. They also charge $100 per lb. for r410a. Much more than other HVAC contractors. I thank GOD that I didn't have him put any R410a in my unit as my bill would have been many hundreds of dollars more. BE CAREFUL when thinking about using this contractor $.
