United Education Institute [UEI] I highly do not recommend this school!

I attended UEI in 2009 and graduated in the dental assisting program in honors and great grades. I was one of those people who did not want to believe what other people had to say about this school (I wish I did). I thought I was different because I am a very driven person. After graduating in December 2009 about a couple of months later I haven't heard from UEI's Career Services and no call backs from about 20+ different dental offices I had applied to myself with no help what so ever from UEI. I was completely shocked to learn that the career services people from UEI got their "job leads" from craigslist and monster.com! I feel like I was manipulated to join this school by their administration because they know what we are getting ourselves into but its all about the money which is exactly what they are all about! I had written a letter to several people including UEI about my situation not only for my self but for the other people who attended with me as well who still do not have jobs in the dental field 2 years later. I had said in my letter all my frustrations with this school and how they do not do as they say, mostly promising to help you find a job, and that I wanted my loan and my certificates taken away. I had stated a lot of mishaps that happened while I was attending, i.e. books were 4 months into the program late, not properly taught on certain things but still passed the modules and more. About 2-3 months later I received a phone call from UEI compliance in regards to my letter. They said that they could only do so much for each student and there was nothing they could do! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I am paying $14, 000 to get this "career" that you had made such a big deal about when I was signing up! I hear more from my loan carrier then I ever did from UEI! About a month later I received another call from UEI saying how much they wanted to help me, there's no way I can get the loan taken off, there's no evidence to show your books were late blah blah blah. I was very polite on the phone (i am not a rude person) and I had said that why should I get help now when you should have done it in the first place but I accepted the help and she said that I should be getting a call from career services in the next couple of days. NOW, here's the part that gets me. That phone call was about 2+ months ago and I have not received one phone call (f.y.i. I still have the same phone number and address so there's no loss in communication). I have proven my point. I am paying a lot of money for this education and I work in retail to pay for this loan that I have nothing to show for. I am debating whether I should call UEI compliance again, or just getting a lawyer and seeing what I can do about this situation. This is not right! It is a scam! Those who are attending UEI I highly suggest to quit now! Those who have graduated with no job to show for I am truly sorry and i know how you feel. I am writing this to help people who are thinking about joining UEI (I hope this helps) and also if anyone has any advice on how I can better my situation with trying to get this loan taken away please email me at [protected]@gmail.com.

The UEI Class Action has settled for approximately $9 million in settlement monies. (Cordova et al. v. United Education Institute et al., AAA Case No. 73-516-Y-[protected]) In order to be eligible to receive settlement monies, CLASS MEMBERS MUST FILE A VALID CLAIM BY OCTOBER 4, 2016.

You are a member of the class and may be eligible to make a claim if you graduated from UEI’s California campuses on or after October 15, 2008 and enrolled before August 22, 2013, who, within six months of graduation, did not find employment working at least 32 hours per week in a single position, within their field of study.

You can also visit the UEI Settlement website at www.UEI.simpluris.com to read about the settlement and to complete a claim form online. If you have any questions about the class action, please contact us at ueiclassaction@dsmw.com.

Same thing exactly happened to me.. I went for Massage Therapist went thru everything passed all exams for License and all.. that's another 300 bucks out of pocket.. all this in hope of leads or some kind of help with finding a job.. ya they help you prep to look for job or start your own career. .
This thing with job placement that they say they do, gaurnteed ... While student $$ s just growing intrest..
I call them to talk about this issue and I get phone call back wanting me to sign up AGAIN... Had nothing to do with my call in... I received over 300 phone calls trying to enroll me again to take another easy 13000...
And now they are saying I consented their phone calls.. ya for my issue not about enrolling in this worthless program.. after the first 100 calls you would think the point was made.. determined it may be but harassment it is...

i wish i read this a while ago too, i got in without a diploma or G.E.D ( what college lets you in without those?) and there's these 2 idiots in my class, who always goof off and never do what they are supposed to, but yet they are still making straight A's? no way...i make straight A's and half the time i don't really know why, but I'm already stuck paying the school loans so they still get 16, 650 if I'm there or not, i wish i never even went there, if feels like a huge waste of time.

United Education Institute [UEI] money

in our finance paperwork it states that we are to get around 2800 for traveling expences. This differs from person to person on the amount every student getting the fianancle aid is intityled to X amount of money to cover gas, school supplies, computers... Where's my money I have 3 kids and work only part time. I spend $40 a week just in fuel to make it to school. I could really use that cash. Check out your financle papere work its in there. Thinks about it $2800 each student, andf lets say 300 student on campus at a time thats $840, 000 just for those student.

United Education Institute [UEI] placement assistance is non existent

This school promised my daughter placement assistance, and to send her for an externship. The externship she was sent to - they sent three other girls to at the same time! In addition this office didn't even want them there. All they had them do was filing. My daughter became an ambassador at UEI and when she graduated I thought they would assist her in getting employment. I was so wrong! They sent her to an interview that required spanish speaking which she does not have. The second one was 45 miles away! Their career center has emailed her adds off Craigs list and job posting for retail stores! They do not communicate, they do not return calls and they certainly do not care if these students get jobs as long as they have gotten their money! I can't even find a site for them that I can complain to!
She is still unemployed and her loan is coming due. I feel terrible I suggested this school to her! I want to do something about this. They are charging thousands for hundreds of students and they do not even attempt to place them!

United Education Institute [UEI] lack of integrity & lies

My son attends this school in the Medical Assistance Program and I am appalled at the number of times his instructor has told him lies. It would seem that neither instructor has any integrity what so ever. First they are told they have no class then he is contacted and told he just needs to come in for a couple of hours. Once he gets there then he is told he has to stay and cannot leave. I realize students may say they are ill and don't go to class but my son puts forth every effort to go. So if he is sick and has his doctor tells him to get bedrest I believe that's what should happen. When he told his teacher what the doctor said he was told he needed to come in anyway. And since he is very young he dragged himself in only to exacerbate the problem. The instructor shows no real concern for the students. They make promises and never follow through with them. I so babdly want to call the school but he doesn't want me too. I just wish they would acquire some integrity from some where. They seem to know their job they just lack the ability to tell the truth. UEI is you care about your schools reputation please encourage your instructor to display some integrity and don't lie to their students. Is it your practice to hire these LIARS to work at your school and represent you school.

I WAS WARNED LAST YEAR...BUT TRIED TO TRUST WHAT MY TEACHER TOLD ME. THEY NEVER CARED ABOUT WHETHER I'D GET A JOB BUT THEY CERTAINLY CARED THAT I PAY ON MY LOAN...GO FIGURE! I LOVED MY TEACHER BUT FOR THE REST OF THOSE UNEMPLOYED TEACHERS NOW THEY'LL SEE HOW IT FEELS TO NOT BE ABLE TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES.

It's sad but true. It was only a matter of time before the deception would catch up with the school. It's really disappointing for anyone who owes money for the education they received from the school.

United Education Institute [UEI] misleading consumers

Embarrassed to say but, I am a consumer at UEI College. I have made my complaints known to the school. They have sent their chain of command, twice now, to meet with me to defend the actions of their employees rather than listen to the consumer, me, the student, as to what obligations they have not met as part of my tuition paid through student loans to this school. I was given the "You should-have, could-have, " canceled within 7 days spiel. If I had engaged Career Services for career placement within the first 7 days and experienced what I had, there would be a cancellation inevitably.

Have any of you who have complained sought an attorney, are interested in retaining an attorney for a class-action law suit, written to the accreditation organization endorsing them, or have written to Congress (if you didn't know, Obama wants to take away federal funding to these schools for a reason) to pursue exposure or halt the unethical practices of these types of institutions and seek a refund you believe you are entitled to?

It's January 2011! Don't just be pissed-off that you were duped...be proactive and do something about it. Get your money back. Discredit these fools for their unethical practices so that it stops! AND most importantly, keep your research going, seek the education to get into the field that you intended before this school got in the way, don't give up your dream. Maybe through court you will win the case against this school and they will have to pay for that education, or at best, pay you for damages for all that time wasted. Wouldn't that be nice? Seeking it out...you should do the same.

United Education Institute [UEI] uei

So I decided to attend UEI because my admissions counselor was so nice to me and I really felt that the rest of the employees would be the same. But of course I was wrong. I know that every school has policies and procedures but not everyones situation is the same. So i just assumed that someone in the school would understand my situation and that there procedures and ploicies could be bent a little for a single parent trying to get an education. All of my tuition would be paid off by a grant and the career center so I decided to apply for student loans to pay for my living expenses. I expressed this to every person that I spoke to before I signed the final papers to get into the school. But at my last visit with financial aid I was told that my student loans wouldnt be disburssed to me untill my tuition is at a zero balance. Meaning that because grants are released into two disbursments they would be using all of the student loan money to pay off my tuition before I could get anything to pay for my living expenses. In other words UEI cant wait to get there money from the grants they will take your student loans to get theres first even though they know your school tuition is completely taken care of, they cant wait to get there disbursment of grant theyll take your student loan money to paythemselves off first. I tried talking to the director to see if anyone could help me around this because I am a single parent of two. Of course there answer was no. So I guess now I will have to live in my car because UEI wont make an exception for me.

I am a felon and they told me that felons could enroll and would be guaranteed a job. It is now 2015 going on 2016 and, NO JOB. If you are going to make a complaint on how stupid things are, you might want to spell correctly. In addition, if you had an education you wouldn't need to attend a school like UEI and typing in all CAPS make you look like an idiot. Did you ever consider that a school like UEI might not be modality and/or program for yourself? You started in June and you had to take a break within the six months you were there. You were on an approved leave of absence and you still went to school. Did you notify anybody that youwere starting up your courses? If you were not in the system and you were on a leave of absence, you were probably not even charged for the course that you attended. Read the school catalog and make sure what is the procedures and protocol within the university. All accredited universities are under strict guidelines with the Department of Education. I'm suprised that you have survived Darwinism.

What a scam! Don’t waste your money! UEI completely mislead my wife into signing up for a course as medical assistant. United Education Institute [UEI] inferior education

I am an experienced and highly skilled massage therapist and have been supporting myself as such since 2002. I have literally massaged thousands of bodies and have been trained under several well-known individuals in the field. I enrolled in United Education Institute in order to work towards a 1000 hours of education in order to acquire an HHP status and open up my own wellness center. Since I already have knowledge and experience in the field of bodywork, an instructor cannot just say anything or lack qualifications. I know the difference, unlike a young and trusting student trying to improve their lives and learn something new. Incorrect information, sloppy techniques, lazy focus and lack of imagination, ridiculous cirriculum, and ill-equipped instructors constitute the over-all experience at UEI. Instructors who could not handle that I entered the doors of UEI with more knowledge than they, sought to discredit me and embarrass me. I learned nothing and want my money back.

I attended UEI in Chula Vista CA in 2009. They promised a lot of help and I was given no help. I was left with a ton of debt and no career.
