Respected Sir,
Sub : Course Misrepresentation by Bedfordshire University, Luton

I am writing this in connection with the request for refund on the course I have enrolled for on 24-09-2008 .

I have applied for post graduate degree in MA Media Culture and Technology from Coimbatore, India and have paid a total fee of £4350 towards the full course fee of £8700. Optional required was Multimedia but this was changed to Publishing Culture and Technology in the induction class and students had raised objections on this but to no avail .

I applied for MA Media Culture and Technology with optional Multimedia as per details in the Prospectus through Bedfordshire University Representative and Agent in Chennai, India sometime during September 2008 . I requested for a course related to the film industry and having multimedia and animation . The Prospectus mentioned Film Studio, 10 Digital video suites, Multimedia computer suites, Studios for Animation and Design work and this are all related to the film industry i.e. Multimedia .

At the University in the induction class the Faculty gave option only for Print media and this was not what I applied for . So the initial breach of contract is actually on their part .

I have lost plenty of money and 1 year of my career, 1 year of Visa lost and all my hard work, efforts and British High Commission interviews, all these have been wasted . Add to this the incidental expenses like to and fro plane ticket charges, room rent, food expenses, etc . Who will compensate me for all these .

I took educational loan from a Bank to pursue my education in UK .

My parents trusted this University and its Agent to take care of my educational requirements after paying advance fees and it’s the duty of the University to have taken care of me . Under the pretext of discussions I was made to wait for 5 months with nothing happening . Both me and my parents suffered mental breakdown and severe tension related problems .

At the International Students Centre where I went for guidance I faced a very disgusting situation which gave me the general impression that other than my money which the University was interested in I would get no help from any source . I have no faith in this University nor any of its guidance centres .

My father tried to call up the Agent and University representative for redressal but it was always false assurances and quite often they conveniently avoided answering any calls . They knew they were at fault then how can they answer our queries or redress our grievances .

I paid the money for a particular course and came to know that there was no such course on joining the University . This is the most shocking fact .

I am presently being pressurized by illegal litigation mails which have no meaning and I am terribly disappointed to say that I am ashamed to say that Bedfordshire University is having only a business interest in making money by terrorizing innocent international students like me rather than imparting educational needs and I request that as an international student from India I would like this matter to be investigated and in conclusion to issue me a Students Completion Procedure .

Hello Miss/Mrs Surya,
I am from Pakistan and a student of bahria university Islamabad campus, I have also applying at university of bedfordshire for a computer science course, ( transferring my credit hours after my 6th semester),
Your story is truly tragic & I am sorry for what happened to you,
But I just wanted to ask one thing, Did you researched about that university before applying, e.g ask any of there students of bedford or from some other mean,
And did you directly paid the university or the agent did the process.
And also ( in your case) was the agent responsible for the whole admission process,

I am jsut asking this because I am applying after a research of 1 month on this university, My admission is accepted there though. But after reading this I think I should do more research regarding international student admission.

I am sorry if anything seemed or sounded inappropriate in my comment, I didn't meant to.
