Ruth's Chris Steak House - Inferior seating for black guest
The server was very attentive and did a great job. The food was well prepared and the presentation was excellent. I had reservations for two on 9/23/2022 for 7:30. I arrived at approximately 7:15, and was promptly checked in. When the hostess arrived to take me and my companion to our seats, this is when things went downhill. We were escorted all the way from the front of the restaurant through the dining room to a small, cramped, hot, and noisy room all the way in the back. Also, this appeared to be the unofficial "Black section ". I have heard that many restaurants have inferior sections where they mainly seat Black Patrons. I was shocked to find that Ruth Chris was one of those restaurants. I declined the seating in the section. I told the hostess that the location in the small hot room was unacceptable.
Desired outcome: I would like this company to apologize to me for this treatment. I would like the company to provide training to their employees on the importance of inclusion and diversity. Finally, I would like a complimentary dinner for two.
Ruth's Chris Steak House - Money stolen at my 21st birthday dinner!
Hi my name is Blake White I dined at this Marina Del Rey location in Los Angeles tonight Friday, September 27 with reservations @6pm for my 21st birthday. My parents were with me at the table where they gave me a birthday card with money in it, and after we dined and waked down the escalator we immediately realized we left it on the table, and immediately ran up the escalator and back into your establishment not even 5 minutes from our departure. When we returned it was missing and the table was already reset. We spoke to the waiter, the person who cleaned the table as well as the manager but they all said they checked the booth, trash and linens yet nothing came up! We had very little help and were told their were no cameras at this location, which seems impossible. I want to know if there are cameras at this establishment? Lastly, what is going to be my resolution because I will absolutely not be dining here ever again after this night. This is unacceptable and completely ruined my 21st birthday.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Ruth's Chris Steak House - Food and service
On Friday, August 30, 2019 we had a large group reservation to celebrate a birthday at 7:30pm. I have frequented this particular location for the past 4 years for their specialty wine dinners. Historically, my experience with the food and the service has been wonderful. Unfortunately this particular evening has altered my opinion of this location and now the corporate office's non-response to my email has affected my view of the company as a whole. Our party was seated almost immediately with about 70% of us present. The waiter, Jonathan, was amazing and began to engage and take orders very quickly. That is important to note because the first bit of food, which were just the salads, did not show up until just after 9:30pm. In addition to the hungry adults, we had 3 small children who were suffering. At some point, the supplemental waiters started bringing french fries out for the kids, but that was truly too little too late. At nearly 10:00pm, the entrees began to appear. The food showed up like "a piece of a meal". I will share what happened with the orders for the four of us at my end of the table. To my immediate right, the lady recognized that the temperature was not right. The waiter too her steak and left her lobster tail. She still had not received her side, so I watched her let her lobster tail get cold as she waited for her entree to return. Her husband also discovered that his temperature was incorrect, along with the absence of the 3 shrimp. His food got carted away as well and he was left with nothing for an extended period of time. Next, the lady to the right of him (in front of me) had a nearly rare steak so that waiter took her entire plate, which included her lobster tail. She, too, was left with nothing. As the plates finally began to return, they were all wrong again, especially the last lady I mentioned. They had the nerve to return the previous lobster tail, which was now re-cooked or overcooked to her. And when it was brought to her attention, the kitchen staff had the nerve to be argumentative about correcting their mistake. All of the aforementioned is relevant to my complaint.
As all of this was happening, I noticed that my filet was overcooked and dry and, even with the upcharge of the truffle crust, was tasteless. Or rather, it was not the quality and deliciousness that I am accustomed to. With all of the back and forth, I tried to just eat mines. Remember, I shared that the food showed up in pieces. By the time I recognized that mines needed correction, the message from the staff was that the kitchen was closed. The people who's previously sent theirs back and received still unacceptable steaks were basically told too bad. Previously, I mentioned that this occasion was celebrating a birthday. Well, I was celebrating my birthday (9/4) too and I am furious that my sole choice of celebrating myself was ruined because of the attitude(s) of the kitchen staff. This was supposed to be a special treat and I spent over $100 for a meal that was not only unenjoyable but left feeling disrespected. There was no true manager on duty to speak with. There was a "key employee", who did listen attentively, but was unempowered to do anything. My understanding is that the kitchen staff was resistent to his attempts to correct everything. Also, I think it was unacceptable that there was no staff present as we were leaving. They elongated the dining and experience and then we were treated as if "get out".
To add insult to this entire debacle is that I emailed Ruth's Chris corporate office and there has been no response.
To date (10/17/19), Corporate has still NOT responded--beyond calling me to apologize for not responding to my initial complaint and saying that the management team of the Marina Del Rey location would be reaching out. Well, similar to the poor management exhibited that evening, the trend continues.
