MagicJack - magicjack idiot complaints

I have read a number of the complaints about the MagicJack and and I am in awe of the idiots that could not get them to work. I bought 1 MagicJack a year ago and installed it im my home (Charter Cable not DSL) and it worked immediately. I have subsequently purchased three more and I am using them at my business. All working great. I have one telephone line into my business for the Fax and the DSL (Cost about $89.00/Month). The other three I use to conduct my business. I eliminated three Verizon lines at a cost of about $149 per month. Some people just like to hear themselves complain. I have "chatted" with all three levels of their tech support on-line and they are ok. So shut up already.

MagicJack worked fine at beginning(about one year ago): start up quick and the audio were good if not great. Then recently it become worse and worse: it takes forever to start up and the audio is terrible. Unbearable even to me not to mention my wife.

So MagicJack=MagicJoke?

MagicJack works the first couple of months; after that, you best get other phone service if you want to be heard by the party that you're calling.
By the way, my response to the person who says the magijack works with Charter, it does NOT; I have Charter and have the same problem as most do ...
As far as customer service goes, I was able to get a 'live chat" customer care rep; however, she was no help at all; I would asked a particular question/complaint and she would give me an answer which had nothing to do with my question/complaint!

Truly,

one more taken my magicjack

I was a lead PC/AV tech with Best Buy before Geek Squad existed.
I was with them for 8 years.
I left with the title of National Operation Manager, Retail Operations.
I started a company in 2004.

I have no affiliation with whoever makes Magic Jack. I just really like their product.
Everybody needs ways to save money in this economy, and this product does that.

PEACE,

clemay's a troll. His biz name is hysterically fabricated and the description are the first two skills listed in the first sample resume that pops up when you google tech support. Why else would he be surfing complaint boards in the middle of the night. I mean how awesome does he think it is?

If you wanna crawl back out from your bridge, I would love to trade credentials. Please, do reply, I love exposing you guys. I live for it.

In response to e1i7e_7w33t:

I own a company call Tech Support Co. specializing in PC Building/Repair and Electronics Support/Installation.

I don't fall under the category of someone with a "low tech IQ", and I think the Magic Jack is great.

Your suggestion that any VOIP software and a modem jack will do the same thing is preposterous.

Even Vonage, another very popular VOIP service, costs $25 a MONTH for unlimited calls within the U.S.

It performs exactly as presented, at a very low cost.

I hate to be that guy, but the problem is anyone who purchased this bought snake oil, as it is completely superfluous. All you need is VOIP software and a modem jack on your pc. The issues described on this page are consistent with cheap, poorly designed hardware, not settings or ISP troubles. I believe that their marketing was intentionally misleading, as it is apparent that they demographically targeted those with a low tech IQ, i.e. their patronizing explanation of what the device did, the assertion that the internet is "the worlds largest telephone network", and the promise of no software to install and maintain. If nothing else, I think them shutting down their customer service is the first step in a plan take the money and run, after filing for bankruptcy protection of course. I would recommend to everyone who sees this to write your local media and file a complaint with your states' Attorney General, as exploitation of technophobes must violate at least one law.

My twitter name is e1i7e_7w33t. If anyone who like to organize something, I'm sure I can reach out to my network and unleash the wrath of the interwebs on these clowns, as it may be possible for a group of people to analyze the hardware and software against their marketing claims and perhaps prove intentional fraud beyond a doubt.

I just hate seeing people targeted for no other reason than a lack of technical knowledge.

Is the cord going from the back of the Magic Jack to your phone over 6 feet long?
If so, it can't be. I had similar issues, until I installed a shorter cord.

My magic jack works, but it sounds like crap and the person on the other line can't hear me. I haven't bothered to call customer service yet.

I totally disagree with this person. I have chatted with all levels of customer service and not one will hear my problem and address it. All they want to do is change my computer settings, re-install MJ, and other "fixes" that have never fixed the problem. I get these loud annoying beeps all during my conversations on this phone device. Has anyone else experienced this?
