Macy's - Employee unprofessional interaction

I visited your Macy's store in Newark Delaware at the Christina Mall on July 3, 2023, to shop for makeup, specifically in the beauty section. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience due to the unprofessional attitude of one of your employees named Shantel.

While I was browsing through the cosmetics, Shantel approached me and offered assistance, to which I politely declined. I proceeded to swatch different lipsticks on my arm and applied a small amount on my jawline. Shantel then approached me and made a comment that left me feeling small and humiliated. She said, "When you're done, can I please have those? That's why I asked you if you needed assistance. We provide customers with sample applicators to use because what you're doing is unsanitary." Not only was her comment uncalled for, but it also made me feel judged and uncomfortable in your store. I believe that Shantell's approach and communication were highly unprofessional and lacked empathy. While I understand the importance of maintaining hygiene standards, her comment could have been delivered in a much kinder and more considerate manner. Instead, her words were condescending and made me feel stupid as if I was unaware of basic hygiene practices.

There were no signs displayed in the beauty section stating that customers must use sample applicators when testing makeup. It would have been helpful if your store had made this information visible to customers to avoid any misunderstandings or embarrassing situations.

I hope that you take my complaint seriously and take the necessary steps to rectify this situation.  I trust that you will handle this matter promptly and professionally.
