D.R. Horton - Poor communication & false information

We have had a horrible experience in the home buying process. We signed a contract in March and still do not have our home. We were given a closing date of 10/26 on Friday 10/1 and it was confirmed with the closing letter on 10/4. I confirmed this information with title, mortgage, and our sales agent. I then received an email on 10/5, that our closing was now in the month of November. No explanations were given from anyone. I called title, Amanda-they had no idea why. I called our agent, Melanie-she didn't even know it had been changed. I then requested a call from the construction manager, Brady...I sent my agent a message around 2:30 stating I hadn't heard from Brady and she said she would follow up with him around 4:30 to remind him. I followed up with Melanie around 4:30 and she reached out to Brady. I was then told by Melanie "I just spoke with him and he apologizes, he got caught up in a late meeting and promises to call you tomorrow." I explained that was unacceptable and deserved a call with some answers as to why things have now been changed.

When we signed our contract in March, we were told there would be a buffer behind our home. Around 6/25, we found out that wasn't the case and we were lied to. We spoke with Carly, the manager of the local office and she provided us with some options. We could choose another lot, lot 130 or lot 133, that she thought were both Jemison's, that were being released that weekend, but those wouldn't likely close until October/November or we could stay with our current lot and they would take off the cost of the blinds and additional $1000 for closing and keep our August/September closing date. We chose that option because of the lot preference and the closing time. At that time, we also changed sales agents because of the horrible experience we had been having with Becky our original agent until that time.

We've been understanding because of COVID and construction delays throughout the entire process. We've watched the community surrounding our home, which was one of the first released in the newer section not be touched, while watching others move into their homes. We've understood that different models require different materials, however we've also watched Jemison homes be built and moved into in the community.

When we finally were getting windows installed on 9/10, Brady let us know they were being installed and that he hoped to be hanging drywall by 9/21. That date came and went. We finally got insulation in our home on 10/4 and we were still assured on 10/4, that the 10/26 closing date would happen.

In the meantime, we have now watched that lot 130 has drywall and continues to move forward, while we still wait without drywall. This lot wasn't even released for sale until the end of June, while we signed a contract in March.

Now, after finally getting to speak with Brady last evening, he's waiting on a revision for the trusses we're being told because he chose a different supplier for our house. Now that gives us concerns of the quality of those trusses and why do they require additional inspections, etc. He doesn't know when he will get the go ahead to proceed with inspections and continue with our home.

All around this has been a horrible experience for something that should be the most exciting time in our lives. This is mine and my husband's first home. We don't have children and this is our major life event other than our wedding. What is supposed to be an exciting, joyful experience has been nothing but frustration due to lack of communication and what appears to be being lied to.

We'd like to know what can be done to change our opinion of DR Horton and the service that they provide. We chose you as a builder because of the homes that are built and by no means do we want our home rushed, but we do deserve the respect of being communicated to and not lied to.

Desired outcome: A firm closing date and compensation for landscaping to be added to rear of home
