The Pep Boys

My wife took our 2001 F150 truck for brake pad replacements while I was out of town. Pep Boys South Lakeland Store convinced her both of the front brake calipers needed to be replaced (bull)! They charged her over $700 for what should have been a simple brake pad replacement! Several months later while our teenage daughter was driving the right front tire came off the truck and the truck was totaled in the resulting wreck! The police officer that investigated and filed the report stated that "Thank God she hadn't gotten on the primary road yet and gotten up to full speed or she probably would not have survived the accident! Inspection revealed that the cotter pin was not put back in the axle to retain the axle-rotor bolt causing the bolt to eventually work its way off the axle allowing the tire and rotor to come off! I have called the manager at the South Lakeland Store four times, the latest this afternoon! He told me after the second and third calls the district manager would be in touch with me! This was back in June-July! I have received no calls, zip, nada! I called the store back this afternoon and talked to the same manager again and advised him he is either a liar or his district manager is derelict and irresponsible! He hung up on me in midsentence! I called customer service after the store manager and was assured it would be elevated to the corporate level! We shall see but thus far Pep Boys have proven to be incompetent, irresponsible, derelict, and compulsive liars!
