British Petroleum - terrible employees

Check this out. Go to the gas station for a pack of Marlo's Boxed and $5 dollars of gas to top off before, I took off for work this morning at 6:45 and ran up on a line outside the window of the gas station. There's an impatient woman in front of the line waiting on her change. As she's waiting on her change she's muttering under her breath and needless to say she's ready to go. The woman behind the counter, Haitian-American I assume, based on her accent is taking a bit long to hand the woman her $4.00 change. As I am approaching the front of the line, a young man to my right is soliciting the woman for $.25 to which she quickly stuffs her change in the purse and walks away saying that she hasn't it to spare. As she hustles away, I ask the woman behind the counter for what I came there for. She couldn't understand what I was asking for (of course I said Malboro Box Lights-not Marlo's like me and my friends call them) and even as she charged my card it came back declined. I told her that the machine is mistaken because I know what is in my account. For me to try again, she opened the front door that had been locked, possibly due to the loiterer outside, and recharged me-declined.

By then, Im pushing it to make it to the 826 by my deadline and told the woman to cancel everything, I'm running home to check my online banking and then call the bank to discover the mystery behind these declines. I push my empty chevy back home, checked banking-money is there...called bank-mystery solved. The silly fool was charging my account $100.00 dollars, instead of 10.00 and that debit card was just charged my light bill so the limit was $80.00. So I drive back to the store-- and politely told her, "Ma'am, you were charging me $100.00 dollars, not $10.00."
"Did you see a receipt? I no charge you $100.00 dollars."
"No Ma'am I didn't say you charge me, I said you tried to charge me $100.00"
"F--k you, ###"
I was in shock. The woman cursed me out after attempting to correct her mistakes and my only goal had been to come back and make my purchases because I was already late for work as it was. I F-in lost it and I let that heifer have it.
Needless to say, I want to call BP, are their workers so underpaid that even threats of loosing their jobs in this economy doesn't phase them at all. That, you know what, all but laughed at me behind that glass. But not before she ate some final parting words from this bad mamma jamma.

BP NEEDS TO GET ON POINT AND HIRE PEOPLE WITH MANNERS AND RESPECT, THERE ARE ALOT OF GAS STATIONS IN AMERICA, ESPECIALLY W. DIXIE HWY. NO ONE NEEDS TO PUT UP WITH THIS. THE GAS IS NOT EVEN THAT CHEAP. IF IT IS A FRANCHISE, IT NEEDS TO MONITOR THEM A LITTLE MORE CLOSELY TO SEE WHO OWNS THEM AND WHO WORKS IN THEM.

By the way, the top off is what I came there for, by the time I left the tank was empty there was no available pumps at the time, so my friend was in the car, waiting for me to come out. So the car was about empty because the car is older and late model chevys burn a lot of gas, it was a snatch and grab stop, it was supposed to take 2 minutes, tops. Like I said thanks for your compassionate advise as if it was so cool for her to talk to people like that and dont complain when it happens to you.

Kp23, Do not be mistaken. That BP is one of the cheapest and furthermore, right up the street. There are others but I was heading west and that is usually the fastest way. What I choose to buy in a store is not the concern, especially a legal product that is now contributing to children's health care, so I de-stress and everyone wins. The concern is that she actually cursed me out and while I will speak with my feet, I choose to also use my access to the net and my right to speak to the customer service center of BP---as soon as I locate the number. What you see as easy I see as myself in the same position. I have always had jobs serving people and have done so with utmost respect. And yes, payday is on Friday and when I am spending some of my last until then, I don't think i should be cursed out. I was so polite to her, I come there almost evryday and that why she let me in. So her attitude was unwarranted and I choose to use all my options. But thanks for the advice any way.

BP must employ rude employees all over the country! Near my workplace in Lincolnshire is a convenient BP station (there are also 2 other gas stations just slightly less convenient). It seems that 8x's out of 10 - there is something wrong with their pumps or their debit machines or their attitude.

Today was just another example: employee was outside smoking when i arrived. I pulled to a pump and went to swipe my card and finally noticed the screen already had an error displayed on its screen to the affect "pump failure".

OK, so i back up and go to another pump as the smoking and ONLY employee watches me. I go to swipe my card and NOTHING comes on the screen.

Now the employee is done with her smoke and saunters by - so when i ask her "Are all the pumps broken?" i get "Some are some arent - you can keep trying or come in and pay". Since she was done with her break - i guess i could have gone in and payed or kept trying every pump till i found one that wasnt broken per her suggestion.

Since i am a bit tired of this issue at this station i remarked as i got back into my car "or I can go to one of these other stations"... to which she started some kind of long rampling, harrassing reply "its not my fault, its not OUR fault (meaning bp i guess) that the pumps are broken" as she moved closer to my car - i rolled up the window and locked the door, so i missed the rest of her lecture on "Customer etiquette" .

I guess i just suck as a BP customer and i should look for another company to be a customer of since I apparently do not live up to THEIR expectations of me.

BTW - this BP station is on the corner of 22 and milwaukee avenue in Lincolnshire, IL.

Let's see, your going to top off an empty tank with $5.00 of gas. Either you have a toy car or the gas is alot less then you expressed. If you quit smoking you may actually be able to afford more than $5.00 of gas, then you wouldn't have to go to the gas station as often. If she did make a mistake why would you even go back there, my guess is just to be confrontational. Learn to speak with your feet and just don't go back. Now isn't that easy?
