Economy Rent a Car

On August 11th, we arrived at the LiHue, Ha. airport and were informed at the information desk to go to the Shuttle pick up place to catch the shuttle to go to the ECONOMY RENTAL CAR place to pick up our rental car. We called the Economy Rental car number we had been given, to no avail. Number didn't work...got another number by dialing 411...called and it rang and rang, no one picked up...left a message, nothing. Talked to some Shuttle drivers from other rental places and they said that Economy has no marked van or shuttle and comes by periodically on no schedule in a grey van. We waited over 2 hours...finally made another call to a national Economy reservation number...got New York and they said they didn't have anything to do with LiHue, Ha. rentals.

Finally, we took a shuttle to Enterprise and rented a car for the same price or a little less...people were wonderful and said that this has happened before.

I got to our resort, immediately called Priceline and they said they could do nothing about it, but I could call Economy Rental cars, and they gave me a number. You guessed it, no one answered and left a message. Never a call back or nothing, so when I got back home I received my credit card charge from Economy Rental Cars or J & J car rentals in Hawaii for $89 dollar NO SHOW fee. I protested, the credit card company credited my account, then 2 months later back on my card because J & J rentals said I didn't show to pick up the car. DUH! THEY DIDN'T SHOW! They owe me a NO SHOW FEE for not showing up. You can't contact them either...craziest thing I have ever seen. DON'T BOTHER WITH ECONOMY RENTAL CARS, ESPECIALLY IN HAWAII. READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS THEY HAVE AGAINST THEM. A BUNCH OF CROOKS! LEARNED A BIG LESSON!
