I worked for 2 months to get my dad prepared to move from Wa. state to IL since he's getting up in years and living alone.
I researched and ended up with PODs as the company for storing / moving his belongings.
First off, the container arrived 4 hours late, outside the scheduled "window" of time, and not to mention the fact that there was an "adjustment" to the window that I was never notified about.
After the container arrived, my movers showed up and got the work done in a couple hours.
The pickup was for 11am, window of 11-2pm, and they showed up at 4pm. We were on our plan by then, but the neighbor was keeping an eye on it so it didn't get vandalized or anything.
Now the travel for 10 days to IL - arrival supposed to be today, and I'm trying to coordinate a same day drop off / pick up since the belongings are going into storage.
First attempt to coordinate this resulted in the facility not being open.
Second attempt was successful, for the 29th of this month, but then my movers here had to reschedule to the 1st.
I called PODs (currently on hold as I type this) and now being told that the manager of the facility where the container is at (Romeoville / Bolingbrook) never agreed to the same day drop and pick, and wanted to know who agreed to it. Since they don't provide any names, and no notes were in the system for my file, I am now fighting to get my father's belongings to the storage unit a few miles from their facility.
Now being told they will drop it off and pick it up the next day, but the storage area we need to unload at will not allow overnight for the container.
If the container stays at the PODS facility, I incur a $300 charge - sounds like a scam and money grab 100% to me! Forcing the results and charging for it...
The lack of compassion for their paying customers is appalling. No real effort to find a solution, a compromise, or anything. Do they realize that the paying customers keep them in business and that's how they pay their bills and eat? It's very disheartening and sad - notes as to what NOT to do when I start my business...
