Wendy’s - Rude service by managers

My dad and I went to the Wendy's in Rockford, IL on July 2, 2023 around 11 AM.

This is store #5303, 6390 E State St.

First issue... There was nobody at the register to take our order. There were several people in the back milling about. We asked if they could take our order and they said no because the manager's fingerprint was needed to use the register. He went to the back to tell the manager. No one came and waited for at least another 2 minutes. We asked another person and they went to the back again and finally, a manager came up.

(My husband and I used to own a fast-food restaurant and we ALWAYS told our employees that someone MUST be at the register at all times. We didn't want to lose out on a sale.)

We probably waited for at least a total of 7-8 minutes before someone came to the register. Her name was Jasmine.

Second issue... we ordered a combo of the 10 piece nuggets. After it was rung up, we looked at the receipt and saw $9.69 plus tax. Both my dad and I looked at the menu and it said $5.29 very clearly under the combo prices. No price was listed under the sandwich price. We brought this to the attention of the manager. She said that someone was working on updating the prices and hadn't gotten to that yet. We said, but you charged us $9.69 and she said that is the price in the register. I said I understand that, but that is not the price on the menu board. She said but we have to charge what is in the register. My dad and I both explained that you have to honor the price that is advertised on your menu board. We don't know the price in your register. We are going by what you are advertising to the customer. She was very rude with her attitude and called up another manager. (not even sure if she was an actual manager).

While he was talking to us I noticed that she was bad-mouthing us to the other employees (very inappropriate behavior). Then she told someone to bring a ladder to the front.

The other manager said the same thing to us about the prices and was also rude. He grabbed the receipt and my dad's credit card. He gave us a refund in cash (not sure why he didn't use the credit card for the refund). We didn't notice until later that he shorted us.47. He also didn't talk to us about what he was doing. When he gave us the cash, I thought he was going to ring it up again for the price on the menu because no one took away our cup on the tray. I asked if he was going to ring it up for the $5.29 price and he said. I can't do that. If you want to pay the right price then you can have the meal. We walked out.

Not sure if they truly did change the price on the sign or not.

For both of the 'managers' to be so rude to us was very disappointing. There must be a way to override a price in the registers to update a price for whatever kind of reason. Or they could have nicely said, I'm so sorry that the menu board shows that. So and so is working on fixing the prices and they didn't get to that board yet. We do have to honor what the price is in the register. Would you like a complimentary frosty for the trouble? ANYTHING would have been better than the attitude that we received.

That Wendy's location lost our business on that day.

Desired outcome: The refund receipt they gave us was dated 7/2/23 11:20 AM with number 20009 underneath it. My email is [protected]@gmail.com if you have further questions.
